holy EFF lollapalooza!
Lollapalooza 2008 headliners confirmed
Lollapalooza’s Austin, Texas-based promoters C3 Presents are not scheduled to make their official announcement of the acts performing at this year’s weekend-long music festival in Grant Park until Monday, but the Sun-Times has confirmed through industry sources all of the major artists.
Art-rock giants Radiohead and Nine Inch Nails, the reunited Rage Against the Machine, Jack White’s side project the Raconteurs and hometown heroes Wilco and Kanye West will headline the main stages on Aug. 1-3.
The Raconteurs, Wilco and West will each be making their second appearance at the reinvented destination festival. Other repeaters among the more than 100 acts on this year’s bill are Gnarls Barkley, the Black Keys, Broken Social Scene, G. Love & Special Sauce, Blues Traveler and Mates of State.
Quite a few of the other acts — including many of the most promising — have earlier performed at Chicago’s two independently produced music festivals, Pitchfork and Intonation. These include Bloc Party, Cat Power, Stephen Malkmus, Girl Talk, Kid Sister, Office, the Cool Kids, Battles, the Go! Team, Jamie Lidell and Grizzly Bear. Advance three-day passes are now on sale for a limited time for $190 (after which the price increases to $205) at www.lollapalooza.com.
For the full list of Lollapalooza acts, stay tuned to this blog!
You see. You see what happened there. I just crapped my pants.
I am so itching to buy a ticket for palooza. If it wasn't for the fact i have the other festie and my gf is not to fond of Chicago (she is fron IL) I would do this in a heartbeat.

My friends and I have made the decision to go to Lolla... looks like I'll be eating ramen noodles this summer to pay for festival tickets!
Any advice on semi-cheap places to stay???
I'm going too, and I've been researching alot of different options. There's a couple hostels that are fairly close(not walking distance), but they seem to be filling up fast. I think we're gonna try and get a hotel out near the O'hare airport. It's a good train/metro ride away from Grant Park, but it's cheap. Gotta make some sacrafices if you want a cheap place, it seems.

The O'Hare airport area is what we've been looking at , too. I don't mind the distance as long as it's cheap And if we have to check out of the hotel Sunday morning, gotta have a place to store our luggage until our flight leaves that night....

if you just get a hotel on that main road, its really really easy (and cheap) to grab a bus. so hotels can be miles and miles away...
I'd like some advice on cheap and safe hotels near the festival. I'll be traveling alone and am too dang old for the hostel crowd (44). I've never been to Chicago and plan on driving up. But, I intend on leaving my car at the hotel. Any help would be appreciated. I was going to be a volunteer, but you have to be a Chicago resident, bummer.
There is a hostel right by Grant Park. I dont know its name but its the cheapest place to stay other than a friend's floor. Based, on the lineup I think I'm going to be charging for my floor. Oh, and if you have a car there are plenty of places to park along the L so you dont have to pay outrageous downtown rates if you dont mind a 20 minute trip to get it.
Crap...just saw that you were too old for the hostel crowd. Well there are a couple of options. If you dont plan on doing any after shows I'd suggest getting a hotel in the south suburbs and taking the metra into the city everyday. Its cheap, parking will be at the hotel, and you can catch the metra within a few blocks of the fest.
there will be additions but most of them will be at the kids stage. So there will be a large number and it will all be that. Expect a little more good stuff but not a ton.
I found this on Pitchfork.......it has Lolla as a part of the New Pornographers/Okkervil River tour even though New Pornographers aren't on the lineup yet..........
