These are great. Thanks so much for posting. I've been looking for a video of bjork saying the stuff about her speakers for a long time! So glad to see it! I was in the front right below those speakers and a girl next to me passed out. Crazy
Last Year's Acl introduced me to the great Ghostland Observatory. They played for 45 minutes before Dylan( who was horrible ) on another stage and blew me away. They will be great at Roo. Other highlights were Saturday with Railroad Earth, Artic Monkeys ( awsome ), and that crazy ass Arcade Fire show( what was up with that opening video of the woman preaching).....who I want this year are: Radiohead/ Beasties/ Willie/ Ghostland/ Railroad/Raconteurs/ Robert Randolf, and whoever else......
Dylan is never horrible. He's just really old. My Morning Jacket was the better show, though.

Dylan is never horrible.
yes...yes he is. but he is a living legend, so just getting to see him is cool. but when he came out for acl, the only reason i knew what song he was singing was because i knew the music. you couldn't make out a single word. age is catching up with him.
willie nelson is older than dylan and he still sounds good. dylan does not sound good.
*i like coconuts, you can break them open they smell like ladies lyin in the sun** *Hell I don't even know where I am** *for now I must sit here and ponder the yonder: The herbivores did well cause their food didn't never run** *We listen, if it feels good We shake** *You made a big impression for a girl of your size, Now I can't get by without you and your big brown eyes.**

His band was exceptional. I'm not sure what you were expecting. He's old and his voice is shot, but I still had a good time at the show.

you're right...his band was exceptional...his voice, however, was not. i know he's old, and his voice has never been GREAT, but i was expecting to be able to understand the lyrics.

I will ride the disappointment train also. I got up close on the left and couldnt see anything. Dylan and his band were out of view at the back of the stage. i had to walk around to see what was going on, and I could barely understand anything. His band did sound good, but i would have rather watched ghostland.
I knew what to expect with dylan. Seen him before. He is a legend, but I would prefer to see someone else. If possible. I managed to work my way up to the very front for my morning jacket. Which was amazing. Then worked my way out of the crowd before dylan. Arcade fire was sooo hard to get close. I can't stand artic monkeys so I started at the end of their set. I ended up pretty close and you could feel every bone in every person standing next to you ( more like ON you than next to you though). But I some how still managed to get my smoking "tools" out of my pocket. Just couldn't drop anything. That show was awesome.
Funny story -- I had an access wristband the day Dylan played. He was apparently being very particular about not allowing anyone backstage and they really cleared the area out after MMJ. Apparently, just before Dylan's set, Charles Attal and two of his buddies strolled up the steps to the catwalk with a bottle of champagne...and were asked to leave!
I talked to my C3 contact, who happens to be a family member, on the phone this morning. She told me that the following bands were 99% confirmed. Take it with a grain of salt...
Allman Brothers REM Jack Johnson My Morning Jacket Death Cab for Cutie Wilco Drive By Truckers Rodrigo y Gabriela Rogue Wave Band of Horses Rilo Kiley The Avett Brothers Vampire Weekend Okkervil River Matt Costa Ghostland Observatory
Now I'm not going to hate on that list too much because all of those are fairly solid acts, but I am extremely, extremely underwhelmed. That's about as vanilla boring as it gets. I was getting close to buying a three day pass. Now I'm holding off...

i've already bought my 3day pass, but i'm with you on the bands so far. what is it with festies and them underwhelming us this year?

*shrugs*
who knows anymore. its cool that i'll be seeing the allman brothers for what will be my third time come ACL. i wish they would have a repeat of friday's main stage schedule in 05. gov't mule, allman bros, lucinda williams, and the black crowes. doesn't get much better than that...AAAAAAND the crowes have a new album out...
and my morning jacket and wilco again seems odd? i mean i guess they would upgrade both of them to maybe headlining (hopefully not against eachother like last year)
Rilo Kiley strikes me as a bit off though. They've played Austin twice since ACL 07, and when they finish their tour this spring/summer, Jenny Lewis is supposed to be finishing her solo album.

I went to Wilco last year cuz my friends wanted to. Boring, missing My Morning Jacket was probably my biggest regret of ACL last year. That and showing up late for Andrew Bird.
