Sorry if there's already a thread. There isn't one stickied.
Anyone going? Any specific artists that you'd like to see at Zilker Park this year? Memories of past festivals?
QOTSA, Arcade Fire, and My Morning Jacket were the standouts for me last year. I nearly past out or vomited at the Queens show. There was too much (not enough?) hard rocking for how hot it was that day.
This year I'm hoping for Radiohead to headline. That's probably a pipe-dream, though.
Half the fun of these things is trying to come up with a plausible line-up. Given the current touring habits and what not, here's how I see it playing out:
- The Raconteurs (they are doing the big fest circuit and have a new album coming out this year, plus The White Stripes show got infamously canceled last year) - My Morning Jacket - REM - Modest Mouse - Robert Plant & Alison Krauss - Willie Nelson - Allman Bros. Band

i would LOVE LOVE LOVE to see modest mouse
the thing that sucks with ACL is the time restrictions. i was SO glad when Muse got moved to a headliner last year, otherwise they would have been doing their show in daylight...i can't even imagine.
I just booked my hotel, flight, and purchaed my tickets in one swoop yesterday. ;D I have been wating to go visit Austin and the only way I could get my GF to go to a festival is if we were in a hotel with showers. I am looking forward to going

i dont think Radiohead is a pipe dream.... hopefully they will have another kick ass lineup like last year
see, i was kinda disappointed with last year
i thought 05 and 06 were way better
05 had allman brothers, gov't mule, black crowes, wilco, the black keys, WSP, Arcade Fire...
06 had ben harper, massive attack, string cheese incident, tom petty, willie nelson, the flaming lips, the raconteurs, galactic, g love, john mayer, ghostland...
i dunno...07 was kind of boring for me, although i thought common, muse, and damien rice were excellent
that show in 05 was amazing, mainly because of the physical beatdown they took because of the heat, but their 07 show was ridiculous, all of security was telling people they needed to calm down (they were actually telling people "do u want someone to die tonight?) because people were talking about breaking the barriers.
in houston its only 70 degrees, in the summer its not so great, but at ACL they had this mister tents, and my friend and i figured out a system, basically when it gets really hot stand there until u feel better, then stand there until ur soaked, by the time the sun starts going down, ur already dry again all the while pretty comfortable too edit: they need these ALL OVER ROO

lets put it this way...anytime someone complains about heat at Roo, i laugh hysterically. TN in the middle of june is AMAZING compared to central texas in september. sunday in 05, the temps reached 107.
that's extreme, of course, but be prepared for it to be hotter than Roo(the humidity will add to this).
yeah, there must have been another show during their set. i'd seen them in 05, so i had to choose. sounds awesome though
Yeah, it was Muse. I saw Arcade Fire and was completely blown away! It was amazing. I was actually just thinking about that show today. I heard Muse's show was great too. I'm planning on snagging a ticket when I get paid (hopefully!)

Last Year's Acl introduced me to the great Ghostland Observatory. They played for 45 minutes before Dylan( who was horrible ) on another stage and blew me away. They will be great at Roo. Other highlights were Saturday with Railroad Earth, Artic Monkeys ( awsome ), and that crazy ass Arcade Fire show( what was up with that opening video of the woman preaching).....who I want this year are: Radiohead/ Beasties/ Willie/ Ghostland/ Railroad/Raconteurs/ Robert Randolf, and whoever else......

we would get along!! ;D
and dylan was SOOOOO disappointing. we went to see him after wilco, and holy crap. i had to look around at people just to make sure i wasn't the only one hearing this. i seriously thought someone had come on stage to make fun of him...it was crazy.
one of my friends who was with me, though, said that he thought he was really wasted. and he'd played a show the night before...i just don't think he can handle that much playing anymore.
I only caught like a song or two of Dylan and I was at the very, very back. I was rushing out to the Ghostland Observatory after show. Dylan is playing thurs friday and saturday in dallas this weekend, and I wish I was going to one of the shows! I still think I have to see one of his shows sometime in my life, even if he doesn't sound too great anymore
thats how dylan sounds.....his set was what i expected it to be, good i mean the set list was pretty damn good he opened with everyone must get stoned for goodness sakes!
*i like coconuts, you can break them open they smell like ladies lyin in the sun** *Hell I don't even know where I am** *for now I must sit here and ponder the yonder: The herbivores did well cause their food didn't never run** *We listen, if it feels good We shake** *You made a big impression for a girl of your size, Now I can't get by without you and your big brown eyes.**

ACL last year was definitely fun, buy I wasted alot of time walking around not watching bands. This year I am planning on going, I will just have to wait for the lineup and money to return. As far as the Muse vs. Arcade Fire time slot, i saw Arcade Fire at Coachella and they were really good, but Muse blew them away from a rocking perspective. That was definitely a top 5 show in my life, and ive seen a lot of bands. Arcade fire rocks out which is different from rocking, but it was really hard to pick which one to go to, but i have no regrets. Also Andrew Bird is one of my favorite artists ever and he rocked, and Bjork was phenomenal. I took some really good footage up close from those sets, so if your interested check them out.
Thank you so much for posting all of that. I'm especially loving the bjork stuff. Her show was excellent, excellent. I didn't know very much about her and all of my friends wanted to go to the killers (boo) so I went to her show by myself and I'm damn glad i did. I fell in love with her after that show! She is just what you said, phenomenal. Thank you for bringing back some great memories! Karma when I can.

I feel sorry for anyone who went to see the Killers. Bjork tore it up. One regret of mine was not recording Declare Independence, Jesus Christ that was awesome. I went a little overboard recording last year, but its now there for your viewing pleasure, scroll through my videos on youtube, theres good stuff all over the place.

I didnt record the fire but I recorded this.
And I got Declare Independence at Coachella but I wasnt good with my camera yet.
And Bjork at Coachella was the most cramped crowd I have ever been in, people were fainting and getting crowd surfed out all the place. Bjork at ACl was magical compared to it.
