If early birds are only a tad bit more expensive I think I can swing that most definetly. I also second the motion that The Mars Volta should be at Echo 2008. I just hope that won't be their only Atlanta show. They need to reschedule their cancelled show earlier this month.
All I ask is that we don't have some bogus headliner like The Killers again.

add me to that list, i just now found this thread.
Last year was super sweet.
Not long walks (for me atleast, we were sooo close to the venue, right by where dub played thursday. !!!
As it being cold, just make sure you bring lots of layers. I was good n' ready but the phriends i made there, from Jacksonville were completly un prepared.
As for speculations;
STS9, Claypool, Widespread Panic (making a clean sweep of festies)

The Echo Project website has a countdown of 174 days left. That projects to Oct. 11th on a Saturday. Does this mean Echo Project will be Saturday-Sunday-Monday like Sasquatch?
I missed last year, because I was without a license for 6 months... I have a few general questions;
1. How many people, approx, at this fest?
2. Camping, no camping? If so, how is it set up?
3. How long is music going on? From when in the morning to when at night?
4. Security?
5. Price of ticket, and estimate of how much money to bring?
Hmm...well...let's give this a try...
1) officials said approx 10-12K....MY estimates says MAYBE 9K MAX!! ...No way they broke 10,000 peeps there at any one time....which made ME very very HAPPY! ;D Now this year may be a diff story...but we hopes not...unless they don't get to have it because of $$$ issues...
2) CAMPING!! DEF CAMPING! You don't want to have to comute from the ATL...its a greening fest to save the Hooch! And last year there were six...yep that's right ...count them SIX RVs in the RV section...LMAO!! THIS is a CAMPING FESTIE!!! ;D ;D ;D Hardcore!
3) Music till the WEEEEE hours...till at LEAST 4 am most morns except for Sunday maybe.....I know BISCO played till 4 and so did moe....
4)Security? there was security? where? I think I remember an elderly gentlemen apologetically opening the back hatch of my suv and gently moving my sleeping bag to the side before putting a big white check mark on my window.... Oh yeah and going into the performance arena every night they ALWAYS hassled Chaz over the glowsticks Never TOOK them mind you...but ALWAYS with the hassling....you know THE MAN....
5) I don't remember exactly how much tix were....maybe just under $200....maybe just over $150....LOL! I'm soooo bad about crap like that....I'm thinking $160ish but I bought mine like 2 days bfore the festie so mine would have been like THE MOST expensive you could get....as for money to spend....well....it's your typical camping festie...you can bring all your food or just buy food there....the food was above average quality but not a lot of variety and the prices weren't bad....about like Roo.....and of course they had all the vendors .....so whatever your normal budget runs...
*i like coconuts, you can break them open they smell like ladies lyin in the sun** *Hell I don't even know where I am** *for now I must sit here and ponder the yonder: The herbivores did well cause their food didn't never run** *We listen, if it feels good We shake** *You made a big impression for a girl of your size, Now I can't get by without you and your big brown eyes.**

I'll be there. Looking forward to it actually. I was seriously bummed because I found out about it last year and discovered that it was during our homecoming, and I had to dance at the football game. I'd take the FLips over that any day! Can't wait for the lineup.

Hello inforoo, I went the the first ever Echo project. It was a great location, bands, and vibes. They only problem is did the man make eniugh money to do it agian. Alot of people in the area said the music was to loud and they dont want it back. So I think the question should be WILL THEY EVEN HAVE IT AGIAN. I will be suprized to find something saying this will be a yearly event. I dont want to be negitive, I will go in 2 seconds if they do it.
i know the dude who sells the blinkies from the cart with the led ufo thing hooked to giant balloons and he signed a 7 year deal to be the blinkie vendor at echo. and he said that its a 7 year deal on the site to have echo project there. obviously that dosent mean that the community cant deny them but with the 2008 dates coming soon thing id say it looks like it will happen.... i sure hope so! i will probably see him at the ledges this weekend ill ask if hes heard any news.
Yeah, I recall reading that the land owners had gotten the zoning rights to hold events there for 7-9 years. Since the family has deeply lined pockets, I bet they will continue to have the Echo Project for many years to come (unless every year in the near future is as much of a bust as it was last year).
By not promoting the shit out of it, the small crowd had a very good time and reccommended it to everyone who would listen (I know I did!).
This is called an initial investment. It will almost undoubtedly get a little more crowded each year.
And furthermore, because it is in October, there are no regional festivals to compete with (besides VooDoo, but that dosen't really count as a hippie fest).
Here's to hoping that it doesn't get quite as big as Bonnaroo!
"All in all, the creative act is not performed by the artist alone.. the spectator brings the work in contact with the external world by deciphering and interpreting its inner qualifications and thus adds his contribution to the creative act." -- Marcel Duchamp
but i'm pretty sure, if you went , your going back. and pleanty of good word spread throughout the year
Exactly. This is why we have a thread discussing who's going, six months in advance, without dates or a line-up. Aside from freezing my ass off, this was probably my favorite festie last year.

Well I just got a e-mail back from Rivertown Entertainment and they are saying it is a go! Also the Tickets are $120.00 then their go into a 3 teir system like Bonnaroo. I think tickets will go on sale July 31, this is what it was last year.
like everyone said, just on word of mouth it should be much bigger this year. and maybe a slight adjustment on the kind of headliners they have. im betting on a soundtribe latenight.
i would say thursday was a bust. i doubt there was 1000 people there. but i hope its that way again this year. i loved it. it was one of the greatest nights of my life. in fact my friends and i all call it getting all echo projecty when we get extra trippy, rowdy, and rage all night.
warmer weather would be a nice thing though. these down south fests are killing me. between echo project and langerado im gonna start bringing my arctic gear with me when i head down south.
