dude if they announced their lineup, it would be festie overload, hopefully they do pre fest tix and i can get em cheap!!!
and on the UFO, most of us really noticed it bc les pointed it out (of course, unless you know him)
As for 08;
Sound tribe has to be there, In fact I'll put five of whatever party goods you like that they will be. bisco umph Phil/ratdog WSP and i'm also going to add PRIMUS, yes, thats right! they are slowly adding dates
p.s. I'm listening to that Claypool set from Echo last year. verrrry nice.
When I went to Echo in 07' it was just my roomate and I. this year its looking it will be upwards of 12-15 ppl
That Claypool set was just fantastic. IMO is was better than both his AllGood07 set and his Langerado08 set.
I haven't heard the langerado set but I was there for the all good one and the echo one and, echo's was a hell of a lot better.. I actually came out kinda disappointed out of his all good set. But that's alright he made it up at echo
He really couldn't rip it up at AllGood with the pinky the way it was. Also, the light wasn't right. IMO the prime time for a Claypool show is just after the sun has passed the horizon. The sun was still up during Claypool's set if I remember correctly.
Yesterday on the Bisco PT board, numerous people stated that he wasn't holding Echo this year. They said he was going to Europe this year to learn more about running large festivals and was going to bring it back in 2009. I hope this is not true.

^^^ Yep.
So, we are trying to talk my mom into letting my little brother go with us to Echo this year. He's 17 now. He'll be 18 on Halloween. So far, she's been more receptive than we expected, but she still won't commit. Any suggestions on how best to persuade her?

One thing real quick: How do towns like Atlanta not have festivals that solely showcase their city and surrounding area's talent? I mean, Atlanta could do big things for itself having a festival with R.E.M., WSP, The Allmans, Outkast, Ludacris, Grace Potter, Arrested Development, Little Richard, The B-52s, Drive-By Truckers, Neutral Milk Hotel, The Indigo Girls, The Black Crowes, Cat Power, Of Montreal, John Mayer, Bruce Hampton, Corey Smith, Gnarls Barkley/Danger Mouse/Goodie Mob.....and I'm sure you indie/hip-hop/hippie kids with better memories could make an even more extensive list. But doesn't that sound like a good idea?
Atlanta had Music Midtown for years. It was a good festival that brought in tons of national acts and always showcased the local popular local acts. Eventually, the festival ran its course, people lost interest, the promoters grew weary of the hassle, and eventually it ended. Too bad, but probably necessary. Take a decade off and then come back with another festival for another 10 years.

I just wanted to throw in my two cents on Music Midtown. It was a fun festival with cheap ticket price originally, around $40 or so for the whole weekend. They used to have plenty of local talent, especially hip-hop. I think that I saw Outkast and Goodie Mob the first time at Music Midtown. Those were great shows. But then Music Midtown went on a hiatus, and when they came back there was a different philosophy. They increased tickets to about $80 but they really pushed it up a notch for talent. The last year they had the Pixies, White Stripes, Interpol, Slick Rick, Devo, Public Enemy, and bunch of other great bands. However, the steeper price tag pushed out some of the casual music fans, and then the rains pushed them out even further. I think the last few years that Music Midtown was going on, it got some serious rain, which must have really hurt ticket sales. Hence the death of Music Midtown.
However, for a couple years after Music Midtown there would be some sort of free or cheap summer concert series set up in Centennial park. There would be bands such as Cypress Hill, Cake, They Might Be Giants, Blues Traveler. Now they don't even have that. It would be nice if they would bring back one of those concert series. I feel cheated that Birmingham has the Flaming Lips coming to their music festival, Memphis has the Roots/Santana, Lexington has Tortiose/Method Man, and Atlanta -the largest city in the south can't maintain a decent festival or concert series.
With Vegoose and Echo looking like a no go for this year, I hope that Voodoo brings the heat. I like the headliners already.
^ I agree with this. I went to the last Music Midtown and the rain kept most folks away. The lineup was great and I had a blast despite being soaked. I will seriously consider Echo this year if it comes.
I wish we would get some news. I'm thinking pretty seriously about ACL, but don't want to buy the ticket, then have Echo blow it away and not be able to go. Guess I could always sell the ACL ticket if that happens...

i think whatever we get from echo we (if it is happening) we will be happy. i mean just look at the lineup last year. and the fact that its a camping fest in october, makes it more ;D for me than ACL.
I agree. But I really like ACL's lineup. A bunch of my must-see's that I won't be seeing elsewhere are going to be there. And now that Gogol Bordello backed out of Rothbury, I MUST see them at another fest. Plus hippienaustin lives there If Echo's lineup came out today and had 5 sick ass bands, I'd hands down go. How about I just put off making a decision? I've gotten really good at that this year.
So I bought myh ACL ticket. Echo's not totally off the map yet, but it's going to take a sick lineup to get me to do both. Ooh, I better check my vacation time...
