"We're no longer called Sonic Death Monkey. We're on the verge of becoming Kathleen Turner Overdrive, but just for tonight, we are Barry Jive and his Uptown Five. "
Yep, it's going to cost me around 575.00 in gas round trip. Andover Minnesota to Manchester, TN - 986 miles at 12 miles per gallon in my H2. That includes towing a pop up too. Last year I think gas was about a buck cheaper a gallon? Either way this sucks huge AZZ!

??? did I read that wrong or did you just call high gas prices gay?
I noticed that too. Using "Gay" that way may have been cool in junior high, but not in 2008 and not on Inforoo, or anywhere else where intelligent life exists.
"I want you to notice When I'm not around You're so fücking special I wish I was special But I'm a creep I'm a weirdo What the hell am I doing here? I don't belong here" -Radiohead

I didn't know that people used certain words to seem popular. I always thought it was just habit.
Isn't there a thread somewhere that talks about gas prices?
Cool as in acceptable, not as in to seem popular. And yeah, I know this thread is about gas prices, but bigotry needs to be challenged, otherwise it continues unopposed, like Nazism a few decades ago and fascism a few decades ago and ... more recently.
*i like coconuts, you can break them open they smell like ladies lyin in the sun** *Hell I don't even know where I am** *for now I must sit here and ponder the yonder: The herbivores did well cause their food didn't never run** *We listen, if it feels good We shake** *You made a big impression for a girl of your size, Now I can't get by without you and your big brown eyes.**
And anyone offended by any use of "gay" needs to stop being so sensitive. Words are words and nothing more. If someone is offended, its their own fault for being so sensitive over something as silly as words, especially on the internet. Theres definitely a lot worse out there to be offended over.

Do the math on this....Our RV has a 55 gallon tank, and gets about 10 mpg. Bonnaroo, and back, is about 1800 miles....but "F" it, it's only once a year. BTW, I also agree you can say "gay" without meaning homosexual....I'm 37, and I still use it like I'm in 8th grade..."You rode the ferris wheel w/your wife, and paid the guy to stop it on the top? Dude, you are gay."...
The gas issue is one that is starting be be a downer for me. My brother is coming up in a gas guzzling van pulling a trailmannor camper. Getting worried the gas might hinder other funds!
As my Inebriated buddy walks out of the Porto, he yells out, "Dude...I love this place...bonnaroo thinks about everything...they even put beer holders next to the toilet!"
Had to break it to him that that was the urnal. Good times good times!
^^^^me too - I filled up this morning (I already had almost 1/4 of a tank) and it cost me $53.50 - I figure - it took about a tank and a 1/2 to get to and from memphis last weekend - so that was about $75.
So loaded down - 6-7 hours to Manchester and 6-7 hours back - looking at $200 in gas - damn
High gas prices make me glad that I bought a hybrid. Everyone thought I was crazy, but who's laughing now?
As for the 'gay' comment: lighten up. Who pissed in your Cheerios this morning? Comparing someone who calls gas prices gay to a Nazi is a little extreme.

No kidding about the gay comment. It's not like he was bashing homosexuals.
But yes - gas prices are an bitch. Ohh, I better watch what I say though - don't want to be accused of being a nazi woman hater by the PC police.

But yes - gas prices are an Ann Coulter. Ohh, I better watch what I say though - don't want to be accused of being a nazi woman hater by the PC police asshole by other people on the board that may be sensative to this kind of thing.

there - fixed that for you
Nah - I think I had it right the first time - but thanks anyway.

See thats where you're wrong. Its fine if you want to say what you want to say but dont expect to not be challenged when you use terminology that is widely considered to be offensive and inappropriate. Passive acceptance is the same thing as bashing.
Does that mean I'm perfect and I never say anything offensive? Of course not. I slip but I dont whine about it if I'm challenged by someone.
When you see the people you love have to hide who they are and who they love because people make remarks like this you'll want to do what you can to make a change. And I'm not saying that anyone hates gay people, I'm saying that I'm going to stand up and defend my family and friends.

It's a term that homosexuals have adopted to describe themselves. So please explain to me how the word itself is offensive or inappropriate.
I'm with chico. Throwing words around without considering their meaning is not only stupid, it is dangerous and as best I can tell not at all matching the Bonnaroo vibe.
Gas here is $3.68 with diesel at $4.31. Didn't people drive diesel for a while because it was less expensive?

Because in no way shape or form was it used to describe a person's sexuality. You are correct that Gay/Homosexual are similar non-offensive terms on their own. But if you look at context it was not used in this manner. Gay was used as a synonym for sh!tty and the two are not exquivalent.

It's offensive in the context that you use it. To use a term, that is a generally accepted term for a group of people, to put somthing else down is insulting and offensive

It's a term that homosexuals have adopted to describe themselves, so using it to emphasize how sh!tty a situation is is extremely offensive and inappropriate.
And Chico, what you said was very nicely put! Karma when I can.
