This is 100% personal speculation, but I could see the Black Keys as one of the headliners. The Keys recently announced a Toronto show for August 4th -- right in the middle of Osheaga weekend. This Toronto date is surrounded by no other dates three months before it, and some European shows a week later. Would the Keys really JUST stop in Toronto for ONE show, when they could make a quick jaunt to Montreal the same weekend and get a HUGE-ASS festival paycheque?
It's far from a lock, but it's certainly a clue that could be pointing us to one of our Osheaga headliners.
Okay, so it looks like I wasn't the only one thinking this way, haha. It's all over Twitter. I'll upgrade my post from idle speculation to logical estimation.
Black Keys, Wilco and MMJ are the names that seem to be floating around, although some are claiming MMJ wouldn't headline. Not the same amount of info out there about the fest as others though.
The Black Keys self-confirmed themselves last night as a headliner during the encore of their sold-out show at the the Bell Centre. This kind of surprising seeing as it will be their 3rd time here in a year.
Also Young the Giant confirmed that they would be there at their show a few weeks back.
Osheaga just posted that they will be releasing the line-up next week.
Wow other than the Black Keys and Young the Giant, Amadou & Mariam, Florence + the Machine, Justice, M83 and the Shins have now also been confirmed for Osheaga 2012!
This is starting to look pretty good.
Both Wilco and the Foo Fighters have been ruled out by the promoter.

Solid line-up! Filled mostly with people I have already seen a couple times, currently have tickets to see this summer, or don't care to see at all.
At least Montreal is building a nice yearly fest in Canada for me to consider for years ahead. I know that I will be forced to skip Roo at some point and this will make that day harder to swallow.
Has anyone been before? I'm trying to plan travel arrangements and just wondering how scheduling and such is done. I saw that it ends at 11, but basically what I'm getting at is, is it 3 full days? I think I'm stuck in a roo mindset of, not a huge deal to miss day 1 and can leave early sunday(not that I do, I just think its "do-able"). Thanks!
The festival runs form 1-11pm each day on the site and then they have late night sets at various venues around the city. Some are free/very cheap and some are not. Also on the Sunday or Saturday night, not sure which this year, they have the MEG Boat. This is a party boat that leaves from the festival site at the end of the day and goes around the island of Montreal until 3am. It usually has some pretty high profile DJ's performing.

Hey Maki you seem like someone in the know. I'm pretty much 100% that I'm going to this with a couple of friends. Any idea where I should look for accommodation?? The International Hostel is booked up, and from what I remember some of the hostels in Montreal are pretty sketch. I'm coming from Ontario and have NO idea where to start looking, proximity wise. Any advice on what part of Montreal to stay in???
Edit: PM also sent. But if anyone else is in the know, please enlighten
Now if you'll excuse me, I'm going to go on an overnight drunk, and in 10 days I'm going to set out to find the shark that ate my friend and destroy it. Anyone who wants to tag along is more than welcome.
any idea when post-festival shows at the city venues start to get announced? do you purchase tickets to those through the osheaga festival site as well?
also, anyone ever been to molson amphitheatre - cool place to see a show? is it all seated (aside from the lawn)? is the lawn okay?
Cinnamon, the nice thing about Montreal is you can get just about anywhere via the Metro system so you can cut your costs a bit by not stay right downtown. Try Solin Hall, it's a loft style McGill University Residence just south west of downtown. Before I moved to the city it's where my friends and I used to stay. It's located right on 2 metro lines and is a 10 minute walk to downtown. The neighborhood has some cool cafes and bars as well. (I only live 2 blocks from it now). Here is the link: www.mcgill.ca/students/housing/summer/solin/ We used to put 5-6 in the units, plus they have kitchens so you can save money by cooking. Let me know if you have any other questions, I am happy to help.

They should be announced soon, I know that the 26th they are adding bands an DJ's as well as announcing the day by bay band break down.
When they do announce those shows tickets will be available on the Osheaga site as well as www.evenko.ca

Personally I love the Amphitheater. I've seen Dave Matthews, Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, Incubus, Oasis and a few others there. I love the acoustics, and the vibe on the lawn is awesome. I've sat in seats a couple of times and it's a pretty great view from wherever you are. I personally prefer the lawn. You can sit at the front (behind all the seats) and just hang out. The atmosphere is well worth it. During Pearl Jam (my very favourite band of all time) I even gave up my seats to join my friends on the lawn.
The biggest drawback to the Amphitheater for me is post concert crowds. You're shuffled along like cattle for what seems like EVER after the show. Worth it tho

Hey maki, thanks for the info. Is this open to the public? Seems like this is a college dormitory and I'm not sure my friends and I can pass as college students anymore.

Yes it is a dorm, but an apartment style dorm. And yes it is completely open to the public regardless of age. When I first moved to Montreal I stayed there for 2 months while I got myself established in the city. It's a very popular spot during F1 weekend.
