We found Shakedown last year, it was quite the scene. Good food, especially the massive breakfast burritos for $4. There were lots of vendors with unique wares, $1 shots of various kinds, cool vibes. We just stumbled into it, perhaps it will find you!
Keep looking and listening, you'll find it. Funny, I remember my first year thinking there was actually a street named "Shakedown", and was quite disappointed when I couldn't find it on the map. Eventually we figured out we were camped about 5 seconds away from it!
As long as there's a Bonnaroo, there'll be a shakedown street. Don't let the haters hate

If you can't find it or think it's not there, just listen to the music
Nothin shakin on shakedown street. used to be the heart of town. Dont tell me this town aint got no heart. you just gotta poke around
You think youve seen this town clear through. Well, well, well, you can never tell. Nothin here that could intrest you. Well, well, well, you can never tell. Its not because you missed out on the thing that we had to start.
Since it would appear that no one actually answered the question asked...Shakedown last year was primary on Plantation Street between Victor St. and North First Ave. Plenty of good cheap food, crafty stuff and pretty much whatever else you might be looking for.

Thanks for finally giving a straight answer, Karma to you when I can. Could someone please twitter it's location once found this year???
I have to agree with this 100%. What fun is it to just walk straight to shakedown without having the adventure of finding it. Looking in the wrong places sometimes leads to even more fun than finding what you're looking for at the Roo.

Last year was the first year that they really started cracking down on unofficial vending. We all know the reasons why. I know it's inconvenient to have to walk further, and it's even more inconvenient for the vendors that will be on 3rd avenue because they'll sell less of their wares, but it can be a good thing to keep it floating. I wouldn't be surprised if it wasn't on Plantation this year. Who knows what kinds of cool people you'll meet when you're wandering?
i find this thread hilarious, if somewhat unbelievable. makes me feel OLD. I never considered that folks might one day have to go searching for a Shakedown they've only heard about in stories!

sounded a bit condescending... but with the way technology is... it would be nice to not have to walk around the entire grounds and just head "thattaway" to shakedown...
only meant to be condescending to myself - about my age - and was lamenting the way things are nowdays with security to drive SS to a place that requires finding. trust me, i've been the person wondering what the deal was with shakedown before too. just a reality check that i'm not really the same age as the average Roo attendee no matter how much i try to convince myself I am. so don't judge, please - personally i think it's awesome so many younger people are still into a scene with such deep roots, and this thread made me smile.
i understand... but you're only 28? but you're only a few years older than some of us... maybe more for alot of the noobs... but you are half the age of Colorado Ron! :-) hehe...
also, i just was made because i'm a bears fan and i saw your stupid icon
^^^hey - Boz and I are both 29 and this is our 3rd 'roo and there are lots and lots of us that are 30 and older that are gonna be there - it is a state of mind - I don't feel old - at least not in the afternoon - first thing in the morning getting out of bed is another story
(Okay, so I am still only 20, but I'll tell ya this: the guy I am seeing right now is 30 years old. If I can date a 30 yr old, then by no means does 28 or 29 count as old.)
Meg, Boz is coming too?? Where is he on this 'ol board?

he is around - screen name elusiveboz - I had to make him his own finally - LOL He normally posts late at night while he is working
there will be less and less shakedown every year. unfortunately, roo is seriously cracking down on this. they don't want you to spend your money with anyone that isn't officially part of the festival. i talked to one of the food guys, who had the best lot food I've ever had. he was an "official" vendor at langerado and i found him on shakedown at roo in 2006. I saw him again at langerado this year and i said "hey i tried to find you last year at bonnaroo" and he said "yeah, roo is over. it's sad." really... when metallica is headlining your festival, you're pretty pretty mainstream and there just isn't any room for a real shakedown in the mainstream world. of course, as long as phil is there, there will at least be a tiny bit of shakedown action.

**reaches for a cane** I'm 38 and this is Roo #6. I feel that I am better prepared this year than ever. (Been walking 2 miles a day since Feb '07) Uphill both ways, of course!
