I think it's time to check in with everyone and see what's up! How are the lifestyle changes going? I've doing great since school started and am now forced to walk a lot around campus four days a week. I know I've lost some because of that but I refuse to step on scale unless I'm at the doctor's office.
Well my roommate discovered that our scale is almost 10 lbs off-the good way. Yay! I've been working out, but I've had to force myself to do it. Nothing's been coming easy

im having issues with keeping myself on track, and staying motivated. i plan on eating healthier, then all of a sudden i find myself eating horribly. UGGH

I kind of do the same thing.. It's like the more I think about eating healthier, the more I eat of everything. It's so weird, it just puts me in too much of an obsessive FOOD FOOD FOOD mindset, I think. So I basically have to buy only healthy things, and force myself to eat out less, then I don't really have to think about it too much.
I went a two weeks without a quarter pounder with cheese! That is a great improvement. I have been eating lots of avocado. The diet coke is still with me though. Just can't seem to give it up. I have been drinking more gatorade though at home and only drink DC at work. No working out so far...and I have not been taking the dog for a walk which makes me feel horribly guilty. I blame the heat.
This isn't new, but I just read about it and am going to give it a try. Apparently, if you replace your daily coffee (I drink way too much) with green tea, you can lose 10 lbs in 6 weeks. Some may call it another fad diet, but I need to cut back my coffee intake anyway, and green tea is good for you in so many ways. So it's a win win. Even if I don't lose weight, I'll be healthier.
I'm wearing a pair of pants today that I couldn't even get close to buttoning a few months ago. It's awesome! I was about to go out and buy pants, but these fit again so screw wasting moneys!

I've been reading about losing some weight and everywhere I read it's Cardio, Cardio!! I hate Cardio. I'm not a very good dancer, so I'll suck at the Dance cardio. I gave myself a headache from doing jumping jacks because I really wasn't paying attention to how I was breathing, or holding my breath in my case. I was laughing at myself, felt like I was having a walking and chewing moment.
i thought i would jump in on this thread. better late than never i suppose!
anyways, I started actively tryign to lose weight a little over a month ago and so far I've lost 10 pounds! I weigh in on saturdays so hopefully that number will increase in a few days
i just wanted to post some non scale victories as i like to call them... little things that you do for yourself that dont include scale numbers cause its easy to get to the point where that's all you want to think about!..
anyways, last night i said NO to french fries one of my friends brought over and a mcChicken which another person brought over
my friends also brought over some of those TGIF frozen appetizers, and asked me to make them. I made 3 boxes of them and only ate 3 of the smallest pieces of honey chicken I could find.
today on of my friends brought over homemade, made from scratch, covered in fudge brownies, which i said NO to.
it may not seem like a lot, but im really proud of myself... i hope this thread stays active, i just read the entire thing and it's so full of support!!

after working out for 5 days a week for 3 or 4 months and not losing any significant amount of weight (although i am feeling much stronger/healthier)... i talked to a coworker who lost weight before her wedding using a personal trainer and gained THIS insight...
typically when people work out, they get hungrier and eat more as a result, and then lose zero weight!
seems simple, but i realized i was totally doing that without realizing it! i was usually eating healthy stuff, but i was definitely eating more than i did before. so now i'm counting calories too, it's not so bad, and i hope to see results on the scale in the near future.
it's nice to have some support here and read about everyone else's progress/struggles
been doing more cardio. switched lunch from several different options to a protein drink i make - its like those vivano things at starbucks, but it doesnt cost $5 a shake! anyway, lost about 9 lbs in the last few weeks. in a few more weeks, i should be at my pre-roo weight. if i stay on track, could be in a much better place by the end of the year.
oh, and i work out for at least an hour with high impact weights and cardio. arc trainer. its the future!

If I could just go to a Gogol Bordello show every night, i would weigh absolutely nothing in like a month. ;D I came away from the one in ATL Wed. absolutely exhausted.

I actually jump around my room to Gogol Bordello all the time. It's great cardio.

I feel like I've been taking terrible care of myself lately... lots of unhealthy food & not nearly enough working out. But everyone is telling me I look great ??? I think its because all the weight I'm gaining is going to my once-deflated boobies (hey, this thread says girly on it, I can talk about this)... and as horrible as it is, I think my revived smoking habit has been keeping my metabolism down. Soo basically, looks are decieving. I've been feeling really crappy lately - that heavy feeling on my chest when I wake up is back from smoking too much. Boo on unhealthy me.

oh man. gogol is playing here in December. i'm dying to see them but i dont have $30 bucks to spare.
anyway, i decided i'm going to start jogging. heading to a park ever weekday and i'm going to jog 4 miles. the part also has a small trail that leads to the top of a hill where i can see the nyc skyline, jones beach theatre, and possibly connecticut? i dont remember.. probably just northen li. i'm going to wind up being a pain in my own arse when i try to get up early each morning

Dude, that's like 60+ days from now! That's $.50 a day more or less!! Surely you can manage that for one of the greatest live shows EVER!?!?
all my money is going to school. thanks to the economy, i can't get my loan for this years semesters i'm most likely going to ask my parents if they can get me a ticket for an early christmas present.

^i went hiking all by myself yesterday on the parkway in boone (blue ridge/appalachian mts) its so gorgeous, i miss it there. But i hiked to the top and just sat on a rock overlooking nothing but mountains and listened to my ipod for about an hour. .. then i went and ate lol.
First of all, my home scale must be broken because when I step on it I see a weight I haven't been since May '07! lol Secondly, I joined sparkpeople.com and it's wonderful! I've joined many weight loss type sites and this one is by far the best! Mostly because it's free! It's especially good if you need to keep a food journal. I've tried many times in the past, but this one keeps me on top of it. I've finally set a definitive goal of 60 pounds by Christmas 2009. That'll put me at the top of my healthy weight range. 40 of those pounds I hope to lose by Roo, but I'll settle for 30 to 35.
I posted awhile ago about how I was switching from coffee to green tea. I wasn't really expecting to actually lose any weight. I was more looking for the health benefits. Anyway, it's been 3 weeks now. I weighed myself yesterday and I've lost 5 lbs just from that switch. I was very surprised

How/why does that work?? Does coffee really have that many calories in it? Or does green tea just do more for your metabolism? I'm asking cause I drink an average of two cups of joe a morning...not that I think I would ever switch, but I'm kinda curious.
