I posted awhile ago about how I was switching from coffee to green tea. I wasn't really expecting to actually lose any weight. I was more looking for the health benefits. Anyway, it's been 3 weeks now. I weighed myself yesterday and I've lost 5 lbs just from that switch. I was very surprised
How/why does that work?? Does coffee really have that many calories in it? Or does green tea just do more for your metabolism? I'm asking cause I drink an average of two cups of joe a morning...not that I think I would ever switch, but I'm kinda curious.
I read this: www.davidhayden.com/blog/dave/archive/2005/09/02/2448.aspx I don't completely understand, but basically coffee has stuff in it that raises your insulin levels, causing you to hold onto your weight. Green tea kind of does the opposite. It somehow drops your insulin levels, causing you to drop weight quickly.
Gree tea has a lot of good help benefits. It speeds your metabolism, helps prevent tooth decay, heart disease, and certain cancers, it helps your complexion, and prevents premature aging
So basically it's a win win. It does have less caffeine than coffee, but I just drink more of it
Sooooooooooooo 2.5 moths after this thread originated, it's gone completely quiet. Have all you wonderful 'Roo women given up on getting fit (or more fit as the case may be), or are you all just to busy toning your hot bods to post on here anymore?
I for one had JUST started my long distance running training back in July, and I'm now 4 weeks away from running a 1/2 marathon here in town. I feel GREAT!!
"We're no longer called Sonic Death Monkey. We're on the verge of becoming Kathleen Turner Overdrive, but just for tonight, we are Barry Jive and his Uptown Five. "
^My roommate just ran her first 1/2 marathon last weekend. It made me feel pretty lazy and like I need to do something like that. I need a goal and a deadline. And not one that I can back out of because I will
I don't really post on here because I've settled into my new routine quite a bit. I've also found that having no money is the best thing for weight loss. Ever.

im still here. just about to hit -15lbs since the end of july (when i really started working on it). I'll be down -25 total since the start of the summer.
im kinda bummed that not one person has commented on the fact that ive lost weight. I dunno, maybe people dont want to sound rude.. but jeeze, you would think with almost 25 lbs down someone would notice.

I finally joined a gym! Now the only problem is getting my ass there!! I get bored easily so I'm going to take a bunch of different classes, and play racquet ball, and do the rock climbing they have there. Hopefully that will be enough to keep me coming back.
I haven't been around much but I wanted to pop in to say, first - YAY CUPCAKE!, and secondly that I am going to start training for a 5K with the new boy ;D very soon! By Roo time I should be able to run circles around the farm!
I bought a hoopgirl hooping workout dvd today! Well, ordered it. It looks great, and I think it will pull me out of my work out slump and make me a better hooper. Win win.
AND after my roommate just ran a 1/2 marathon, I've decided that I should do that next year too. That's far in the future though. I'm not running outside in the cold

speaking of dvds.. i got the Jillian Micheals 30 day shred dvd.. man it kicks my ass so good. its only a half hour but i definitely feel it and it's definitely hard. i've only been at it for two weeks and i've dropped 7lbs.
i need to invest in a hula hoop. i tried it the other day and i'm HORRIBLE.

I know this thread is for the women, but I'm impressed and a little jealous of all of you. I think we need a Manly Fitness Thread so I could be motivated to get in shape. But anyway, congrats to all of you ladies out there who are taking steps to improve your health.

Go for it man...I just lurk on this thread because the ladies are gracious enough to accept the input of a few of us fellas. I sure wouldnt mind our own fitness thread though.

post away here too if you want, this thread could use more action
the other day my boyfriend brought home candy from work (they have an entire free candy, coffee, popcorn, cookie etc "bar") and i ate a crapload of it. i told him we're not buying halloween candy until the day of LOL
I have the Carmen Electra DVD, it's called fit to strip, I thinks it's the 2nd one, but the one that I have is only the work out stuff. It doesn't really help with loosing a whole lot of weight, but if your main concern is toning your body this DVD helps a lot with that.
I've been too poor to pretty much eat (not kidding. I stole a can of soup from my grandmother so I could eat lunch one day), but luckily my uncle works for a trucking company and someone sent back a truckload of Hot Pockets and popsicles! I am now the proud owner of 24 Hot Pockets and 16 popsicles. The even better news is that I get paid at midnight tonight, so I can buy some real food! lol
Any updates, ladies? I didn't have to subsist on Hot Pockets too long and have settled back into a good healthy routine. I haven't stepped on a scale in a while, but I know I have at least maintained my weight if I haven't lost any, which is good. I set a goal to be a certain weight by Christmas/New Year's and I think I should achieve it since I lost quite a bit of weight from the beginning. I have now, also, reached a point where it's practically a treat to have any carbonated beverages. That's a first!
What's been going on with everyone else? Any milestones to report?

cupcake....and everyone else too...congratulations on reaching your goals - im sorry i didnt comment earlier. i have friends who run a short minimarathon thanksgiving morning - that seems like such a nice way to start the day - but its too cold for me this time of year! i envy anyone who can run like that!
I lost some and then gained it back I think I've decided I'm waaaaaayyy too stressed out to worry about it right now. I'm moving next week, I'm hating my job and looking for a new one, plus the holidays are coming up. I think I'm going to hit the healthiness full force after the first of the year. Hopefully things will have calmed down by then. Plus, I do pretty good with starting and ending points.

I'm right there with you, so I feel you! I know exercise helps stress but all I want to do is unwind when I get home, read, go to bed early, etc...
We can be each other's moral support when the new year comes around!
On a related note, my left eye has been twitching on and off (but daily) for over a MONTH, should i be worried? Stress sucks.
Watchin' a stretch of road, miles of light explode. Driftin' off a thing I'd never done before. Watchin' a crowd roll in. Out go the lights it begins. A feelin' in my bones I've never felt before...
ive had that eye twitching thing happen to me too. its definitely a stress thing.
im still losing slowly, but im worried about the holidays coming up. next week i have 3 family events 3 days in a row... and i tend to go a little crazy on thanksgiving.. who doesnt?
I successfully ran in a local half marathon this morning!! It was QUACKING FREEZING and now my throat is really raw, but I finished and I wasn't anywhere NEAR last! GO ME!!! ;D
