Love it!
I posted this already in the 'girly fashion thread' but if you are interested in getting into running check out www.c25k.com. It will help someone who has zero running experience and get them ready to run in a 5k marathon!

Is figuring out how to gain weight really an issue?

Haha, I love waking up (yes, I woke up at noon!) to a thread full of LOLness! ;D
How about, boys can play in the Girly Fitness thread only if they show off the results in a pretty girly dress! I'm sure Chico's up for it, judging from his track record!
On the topic of fitness... is it bad that I decided Monday is when I'm going to officially start, and thus am pigging out mega until then? Its not really a good mindset to have, since its sorta the idea of gearing up for deprivation, and that's not the idea at all. "Its not a diet, its a LIFESTYLE CHANGE" is what everyone says. Still, I'm eating as much deep dish Chicago pizza I can while I'm still here! Once I cross the IL state line, its go time.
Alessia: I tried a C25K once. I quit. All the stop and go gets really aggravating! Did you use the podcast? I don't have an iPod right now but I bet if I did that would make running easier.

I've done the pigging out thing and ended up gaining too much weight doing it! And only in a few days! I think I just have strangely low metabolism. I'm a rather hefty girl, so my goal for next year is AT LEAST 30 pounds. Then I'll be back down to what I was before I became a Secretary! Just pretty overweight and not "Dear Lord, you got fat!" overweight. I'm actually hoping to have that and then some done by the end of the year. The only problem my weight caused me at Roo was my thighs. I still have scars from the chafing.
Anywho, I stepped on the scale today and noticed about 5 to 8 pounds have come off (I need a new damn scale) since I adjusted my eating habits. So, 5 down and 25 more to go!
You can do it drowens!! I lost 30 pounds just by eating healthier and consciously and exercising more. Especially if you have a decent amount of weight to lose, you can see really good results right away just from making some smart changes. So keep up the good work! The last 10 pounds are a whole other story.

Ha! I decided that Monday is a good day to start too and I just ordered pizza! We are soooo predictable at times
The unfortunate thing is that I've been having neurological problems that force me to either not move around too much or not move at all, so the weight I've lost is simply from a change in eating habits sans exercise. Once I get the all clear, I'll get moving and the weight will melt off. If I have it my way, the 30 will be gone by the end of October and the other 30 to 40 will be gone by the end of next year. Even then, I think I could stand to lose another 10 to 20. I wasn't joking when I said I was hefty. I'm not thinking about the big number, though. Taking it one pound at a time is the way to go!

Oh oh oh I am all in!
I just started on a new birth control about 3 months ago, and it did make my boobs get bigger, but with the unfortunate side effect of making my waistline get bigger too.
It's not that I think I'm fat...I would just like to lose about 10 lbs or so and get back down to my original weight.
Also, I'm trying to consciously eat better and exercise more, which is something I should be doing anyway. I am excited to have all this support!

Do you ladies know of any exercises that won't murder my knee? I have a messed up knee, and i can't have anything done about it for another couple of weeks.. so I'm trying to find exercises that won't hurt it.

I hope guys aren't totally excluded from this thread..... (Mr. Pisgah here)
For low impact try cycling. Seriously, ride a bike.
Fortunately I live where it's easy for me to run errands by bike so it's not like every time I get out, open up the lungs, get the blood flowing.... it's like, all day. A quick ride up to the Quicky Mart for a 24oz PBR? Better than diving. To the library? To friends houses within 5ish miles? Ride a bike.

I did do the C25K and I ended up completing a 10K as the result. I'm currently training as if I was for a 10K (6 1/4 miles) but next year I would like to run a half marathon (13 something miles)
I have always played sports so just having a training schedule really helps me.
