The AC/DC rumor makes sense, given their reunion and Bonnaroo's (for some reason) need to have a heavier band one of the nights. If it were Phish and AC/DC headlining, my ass would be there in a hot minute.
Does anyone remember the exact quote Wayne Coyne said during the FLips performance in 07? did he say they'd be back in a COUPLE years or a FEW years? because im realllly hoping that they will be back.
I think AC/DC would be nice but I really dont see them added because it would be anti-climatic by the time June rolls around. They will have already played in most large american cities at this point and they will probably still be deep in a European tour during mid June.

I think he said a few years, but I'm not totally sure. I kind of doubt they'll be back in '09 regardless. I'd love to see them back again this year, but my money would be on a 2010 return.
I really wouldn't mind RHCP playing one night. I like a lot of their older stuff and some new. I haven't seen them live, so it would be interesting. AC/DC on the other hand, I have no interest seeing them. I like some of their songs, but not enough to go watch them when I could be napping.

i think this about sums up the ac/dc theory.......imo
Screw the Chili Peppers. Screw AC/DC. Both are big names (which is what AC tends to lean towards), and both would draw big crowds, but really who gives a damn?
The last quality RHCP album came out almost 15 years ago, and AC/DC liscenced the new album DIRECTLY to Wal-Mart. What greedy little pigs.
Both bands are mudane, and both consistantly rip themselves off to no end.
Count me out AGAIN this year if they are headlining.
Anyway, I think that the new AC/DC will be forgotten and the hype expired by the time Bonnaroo rolls around.
A couple of folks that I believe will be at the farm this year---
Cheech & Chong, The Cure, The Dead, and others TBD

Yea that spiritualized band doesnt seem to bad, theyre a perfect fit in my eyes. I read up a little on them and seen that theyre from England. I cant wait to learn about new music from the upcoming lineup!
RHCP actually put me to sleep when I saw them live so I would rather them not play the farm. I could care less if AC/DC played, I'd watch a little bit and then get a good spot for a late night.
I'd like The Smiths (If the Coachella rumor turns out to be true I'll be there no matter what), The Dead, Phish, The Talking Heads, Radiohead, and so many others that would be fantastic headliners.
But like what most people have said, even if i hate 2 out of the 3 headliners, there are still so many other bands that i usually don't even pay attention to headliners. In the past 3 years I've watched 3 full headliner sets. and no more than 15 minutes of any other headlining act.
Most of what AC/DC has put out since the '80s has been just okay. I really love their earlier stuff, but the newer stuff really doesn't do it for me. I still want to see them live, and it looks like having them headline Roo would be my last chance to see them.
The last Chili Peppers album I would consider good was Californication. I thought Stadium Arcadium blew, and By the Way had a few pretty decent songs scattered amongst a bunch of filler. I would still go and listen to a bunch of old favorites. However, I feel like now, they're just trying to replicate the type of music that made them popular to begin with, instead of putting out music that they're proud of and that their fans will actually appreciate.
John: We don't even understand our own music Spider: It doesn't, does it matter whether we understand it? At least it'll give us . . . strength John: I know but maybe we could get into it more if we understood it
^^If this is true, is this our first confirmation for '09?
If Phish, AC/DC and The Cure actually are going to be there (as the article states), then I can live with that. I love AC/DC, I like The Cure, and I think Phish are just okay (I know I'm going to get smited like crazy for that). However, even though I'm not a Phish fan, I'd be glad to have them on the lineup, just because I've heard so much about their live performance. I'm holding off on buying into any rumors until we're closer to February though.

From what the Roo organization pulled last year I dont think its out of the relm of possibility to see Guns and Roses added but not as a headliner. They will have a new album and dont tour the U. S. often. Even though its only Axel left, they would still draw a huge crowd out of coursity.

The site states that Phish, AC/DC and The Cure are rumored, nothing says they are "actually going to be there".
Also, just because one site lists a band as confirmed doesnt mean it has any truth whatsoever. It says "confirmed by J Spaceman"... alright... so where's that direct source?
I just dont see how anyone can even consider any of these "rumors" or "confirmations" as remotely true at this point.
The Bonnaroo message board has two unconfirmed "confirmations" (from someone named Leslie?) that there are negotiations to put RHCP together for Roo. I don't know how much merit it has, but it's a strong rumor whether we like it or not.
If any of these AC/DC, RHCP, ABB rumours are to be believed then I will most likely hit up Rothbury, Langerado, or All Points West.
roth or all good are the only suitable substitutes to replace roo. and i dont mean that in a snarky, nasty "i know more than you" kind of way - i just mean in terms of a camping festival vs a non-camping fest. hell, i havent been to either - im just basing that on what people i trust have told me...
langarado was moved to miami and apw was fun, but it was not really a fest. it was more like a big radiohead concert. next year - yeah, good luck with that. if you like drinking beer at a show and not actually seeing the band, then apw is for you.
but personally, i dont put much stock in any rumors at this point. seems waaaaaaaay too early. only one i would believe rhymes with fish. and that's its own drama....
*i like coconuts, you can break them open they smell like ladies lyin in the sun** *Hell I don't even know where I am** *for now I must sit here and ponder the yonder: The herbivores did well cause their food didn't never run** *We listen, if it feels good We shake** *You made a big impression for a girl of your size, Now I can't get by without you and your big brown eyes.**

I loved Coachella, it was the most beautiful place ive ever seen (concert wise) but its not as free as Roo. Concerts all night, beer anywhere, free camping and silent disco are what puts Roo way over Coachella. Im going to try Rothbury also next year just to check it out since i'll be living outside of Detroit at that time but Roo is still a must for me... Those other fests ill try in the next few years when the real money starts pouring in
