I have also heard the RHCP rumors...and I think it would be sick for them to play Friday night. I also think that The AB Band is also probably a given for Sunday. I think Gregg probably feels pretty bad about having to cancel last year.

Yeah, i'd be all for some Dire Straits myself. It's been my dream since a young lad to see Brothers in Arms played live. I have reservations about AC\DC, but i felt the same way about Metallica and they were awesome. True profesionals in every way.

I think RHCP and ABB are pretty obviously confirmed, but I have a good feeling that either Phish, Primus, Moe, or the Flips may play as well. When you think about it, there's only so many big name acts that can play that haven't been there recently, and only a few others that would play that have never been there. I also expect to see some Gogol Bordello again.
I am very down about a RHCP headliner...saw them in '99 .. very blah.
Jeez...RHCP/ ACDC / ABB ...i'm not sure how many tickets get sold for this? 40k?
To be honest I think that, as far as headliners go, those are stronger names than the ones we had this year. At least in my opinion. Besides, it's not all about the headliners. Those are just three names on a bill of hundreds of great performers. Sure, they're the three biggest names, but there's going to be other stuff to do during the weekend, you know.
You really think Metallica is bigger than ACDC?????? If you look at record sales hasn't ACDC pushed more numbers? I read in an interview the other day that they have out sold the Rolling Stones and Led Zepplin. I'm really a fan of AC/DC more of a metallica fan but I dunno bout Metallica being bigger.
Metallica is nowhere near as big a band as AC/DC just look at how fast they are selling out venues nationwide. Look whose music is played daily on mainstram radio. Although it was 20 years ago when i saw them AC/DC definately put on a better show. As far as who as the better music that is a different story but AC/DC definately has the bigger crowd.
Hey, now I'm not trying to argue that one band is bigger or necessarily better than another. I don't care who gets more radio play or who has more fans, because that's really no indication of how good a certain band is. Sorry if my greater than / less than symbols threw you for a loop. I was just saying that personally, I much prefer AC/DC and the Allmans to Metallica and Widespread. I agree that Pearl Jam blows the Chili Peppers out of the water, but I still enjoy both of those bands. I personally disagree about Widespread having a larger fanbase, but that wasn't what I was trying to say.

really when it comes to ac/dc check out anything before back and black (BON SCOTT BABY) tottaly blows any and every song craptallica can make out of the water...............BUT...we dont have bon scott anymore so this is where the predicament comes in
^^^All the same, we should try to keep this thread confined to just solid rumors or confirmations. Speculating should be done elsewhere. Wouldn't you agree, Jay?
I will allow speculations, but I won't acknowledge it on the first page as a legit rumor unless it has been spoken about elsewhere in the press or a reoccurring elsewhere on the INTERNET. The only band I can say that is truly rumored at this point is Phish, and that is going out on a limb at this point.

I'm confused man...I think there was a misunderstanding the guy under you said Metallica was way bigger than AC/DC. And I'm with you I prefer the Allmans. And while Pearl Jam does blow RHCP out the water....pearl jam doesn't have John Frusciante. I saw him at Coachella last year...he Flea and jack come out on stage and just jam the hell out for a while then ease into can't stop. Frusciante alone is worth seeing. That man can shred. Anyway just wanted to clear that up man.
^^that's true about John Frusciante. I mean, don't get me wrong, I love both bands a lot. Red Hot Chili Peppers were one of the first bands I really got into, once I started to develop my own real taste in music (as opposed to just liking the oldies I grew up with and whatever pop songs were big at the time). I still like them, and I would love to see them play. Sure, there are lots of acts I'd prefer to see headlining, but if they are on the lineup, I'll still be happy.
By the way, I wasn't addressing one person in particular, but I was just throwing my take on it out there. Sorry to confuse you.
the only year that bonnaroo convinced me to buy a ticket because of its headliners was in 2006 with radiohead. 2007 and 2008 i went because of the rest of the lineup. if AC/DC and RHCP are headlining i'll still go because i have not seen either live.... used to be a big fan of both when i was younger.... and i know the rest of the lineup, especially the late night, will still probably be really badass.
i would never pay $100 to see AC/DC but if they are headlining a festival i was already going to go to... you bet your hard earned money i'll be there.

also, while they've been sucking bigtime in the studio, RHCP can be absolutely wonderful live. I think people here would be surprised how jammy they are...they did a 20+ minute encore with the Meters at Voodoo 06
