Yeah, Exile on Main St. was pretty bad ass, but I bet I'm the only person that would choose that one as better than Back in Black. Of course, Back in Black is a bad ass album as well. If, hypothetically in bizarro-Roo, both AC/DC and The Stones headlined, I probably wouldn't see either of them or just a little bit of both. I probably know most of both their respective catalogs by heart, but somehow maintain complete indifference to seeing them live. Does that sound strange to anyone?
Not at all. I think the majority of peeps around here want none of either band at Bonnaroo in 09.
No Doubt is headlining Bamboozle up in NJ...big punk festival. Presumably that'll be their first show back, besides maybe some under the radar stuff in SoCal as a warmup.
i'd much rather have blur than gorillaz. not that i dont like gorillaz, they kickass, but i think i'd rather see a live band than a virtual screen or a bunch of guys behind a screen. maybe blur could play coachella and roo. there were a couple of bands that played both fests last year.
So I don't really get the Gorillaz thing aren't they cartoons? Like I said before if bands without human memebers are playing I want Dr. Teeth and the Electric Mayhem latenight.

My vote goes to the Rock-afire Explosion...
But yeah, I've been over that whole "not an actual band" thing before and people always drag up that MTV awards video as if that were the norm.
If you guys really want a Gorillaz tour, you need to campaign for people to buy so many copies of their albums that touring live is no longer cost prohibitive. Until then, the only way you might see them is as a seat filler at an awards show. That is to say, their proposed live show probably has the budget of a Hollywood blockbuster.

from what ive heard is that they would make their animations into a show basically. so why not make the show then sell it on dvd following the show?
that being said this would most likely take some time to animate an entire show, so it would be prob be something they would need to start working on soon.

It's not just that they would make their animations into a show. They were talking about holograms. The technology was too expensive, so they dropped the idea.
well maybe we could get them to do a scaled down version. bring out some drop screens and put their animations up for the show and let them do their thing from behind the scenes.

yeah it'd be kinda like watching one of those pixar movies. a lot of people dont realize that making those 3D animated movies are expensive as hell. that movie Wall-E's estimated budget was $180 million. and to think it was only like an hour and a half long. while a gorillaz show wouldnt be as costly as a pixar movie, itd probably be a lot of similar technology and a lot of other costs that would have to go into a one time live show like that.
Well seems The Killers will not be playing Langerado this year, could they be playing Bonnaroo this year? Their Europe tour ends early enough, let the debate begin! I'd love to see them next year at Roo :-).
As for The Gorillaz playing, it's not a matter of the show as they do actually tour. However it's very select cities and not many dates. Main reason I think is trying to get all the members to be able to perform at one time. You got to think who is in the band (well it varies on the album, but quite a bit) and getting them together at one time. Trust me I've wanted to see them for years at Roo, but it's just to hard as most of the members are touring with their other bands.
With that said I think that if I was a girl I would of just wet myself by reading about Jesus Lizard reuniting next year!!! I saw Scratch Acid at the Touch & Go 25th Anniversary a few years back in Chicago and was hoping that Jesus Lizard would play that to. Now it's gonna happen, someone loves me I think.
Scratch Acid could be cool, but maybe a bit too intense for Roo.
Jesus Lizard would be cool, as well... maybe closing out the Which Stage one day.
And as far as Blur/Gorillaz go, Blur is without question the superior outing. Not to mention I've never been into Gorillaz. Blur was just amazing, for the most part.

I'd take whatever band Damon Albarn would want to bring.
"We've all been raised on television to believe that one day we'd all be millionaires, movie gods, and rock stars. But we wont, and we're slowly learning that fact & we're very, very pissed off......."
Right now is sounds like Phish is playing the roo which would be fantastic. Saturday night spot!!!!!
Not to take the wind out of your sails, but right now I don't really believe we can say it sounds like anyone is playing roo with any validity. Although it is fun to speculate.

no doubt, no thanks. I still cant believe how many times i heard that damn spiderwebs song on the radio.
gorillaz or however you spell them would be cool, never really got into them so much, but a lot of my friends enjoy their music. but they dont go on stage?? or whats the deal with that....i wouldnt want to go see a headliner and look at a blank stage....
and as for the rolling stones, talk about EXPENSIVE, i would think that band alone would end up raising the cost of a bonnaroo ticket quite a bit.....
I'm still ready for some RATM/Neil Young/The Dead. Happy holidays!!
Hmmm.....well the Killers do have a new CD out....wouldn't be surprised to see them at Roo this year. They were OK at Echo....but they definitely are NOT headlining material...I like a few of their songs....mostly off the first CD....
I don't see the Stones....and I would LOVE to see RATM at Roo...they've done Coach, Lolly, Vegoose and VooDoo sooo....Roo is like the only major festie they HAVEN'T done....don't know that they will still be playing together/touring by next summer though. BUT....Tom has a new solo CD that just came out so we might get another Nightwatchman set...or maybe a set with his new "super secret" band with Boots Riley...The StreetSweepers!! ;D ;D

To disagree, Phish is the only band that has been associated with real rumors (the point of this thread). Everything else on here is just "wants" or "possibilities". I'd love for this thread to get back to rumors (the point of this thread). The Phish rumor came from the Phantasy Tour boards - it threw the Phish community into an uproar a month ago. Can I say again, I'd love to get back to "rumors" instead of "wants/possibilities".

I'm not quite sure why you think the Phish rumor holds more water than the other names that have been tossed around. Yes, they're planning a reunion, and yes, the typical Bonnaroo attendee is quite likely to be a Phish phan... but that doesn't mean anything. So far, I've seen no articles or anything from a reliable source that claims they will play Bonnaroo 2009. You'll have to do better than a random post on a Phish message board if you want to convince me. How can you be sure that that guy is a credible source of information? Even if he says he is, it's pretty easy to lie over the internet.
(by the way, have I ever mentioned that I can bench press 400 pounds?)
Until I see an article from a website/newspaper/etc. that I trust, it's hearsay every bit as much as, say, the AC/DC rumors.
And just remember, this time last year, people all across the blogosphere were reporting that Led Zeppelin had been booked for Bonnaroo 2008... look how that turned out.
