-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- no doubt, no thanks. I still cant believe how many times i heard that damn spiderwebs song on the radio.
gorillaz or however you spell them would be cool, never really got into them so much, but a lot of my friends enjoy their music. but they dont go on stage?? or whats the deal with that....i wouldnt want to go see a headliner and look at a blank stage...."
The gorillaz set up is off the hook. There is about 20+ people on stage. If you havent seen their live show, they play it on HDNET sometimes. Its fantastic to say the least. They would blow the doors off the barn IMO.
Tom has a new solo CD that just came out so we might get another Nightwatchman set...or maybe a set with his new "super secret" band with Boots Riley...The StreetSweepers!! ;D ;D
I saw Tom on his recent tour and asked him at a meet & greet before the show if we may see him at Bonnaroo.
He said he hasn't been asked, but who knows.
I did love the Street Sweepers song they threw into their set though. I definitely wouldn't mind seeing more of that.
Patton owes Superfly after the Peeping Tom fiasco a few years ago at Vegoose. I know it says summer European Festivals ... But I can still see it happening.

^I bet they dont come home from Europe for 24 hours to play Bonnaroo.
i was thinking the same thing regarding KoL...
it seems they are bent on taking over the US, so it would make perfect sense for them to play bonnaroo in 2009. they played in 04, 05, and 07....
but they start a tour in europe on june15. they have nothing scheduled prior to that. so they wouldn't really be "coming back"... maybe they could play on friday or saturday?

Ooooh! That is soooo cool!! Even though he hasn't been asked yet there is still PLENTY of time as I would see him in about the same time slot as 2007....late afternoon tent for Fri/Sat.....and they will probably still have some of those slots until early spring.... And having Boots guest would just be

No rumor here, just seeing what others would think. I saw George Clinton with P-Funk this year, on 4th of July, and they jammed out. The show was amazing, even in the middle of a rainstorm. I could see them as a possibility and i must say they would fit in on the farm nicely. George still has it in him to perform and the band did nothing but jam. I for one would be very happy to see them again.

A much as I'd love to see Phish in a headlining spot there is one major problem that I've been worrying about. Since Phish fans are so devoted I can see all of the tickets being taken by Phish fans just to see Phish when they play their set. And since their is no single day tickets anybody playing on a different date would be screwed. I'm afraid it would turn into a Phishfest. The same goes if Zeppelin were to play.

As long as Phish is playing an extensive tour across the U.S. this summer, which seems likely, I don't think the farm will be flooded with Phish fans who are only there to see Phish. However, if Bonnaroo was the first show on their tour after the Hampton reunion, then I could see it being a real problem.
You have to understand that some people have invested so much into the "Bonnaroo has sold out to non-jam music" idea that Phish headlining the festival again is almost incomprehensible. It's not true for everybody around here, but for some, the idea that Phish is would be too big for Bonnaroo is parallel to the idea that Bonnaroo has moved too far away from the scene it used to kickstart the festival to life.
I keep reading on this site as well as others that Phish would never do Bonnaroo because they can put on their own 100,000 people fest like Coventry and they get to make all of the money. Sure that is true but the problem with doing their own mega-fest is that they are the ones that pay the bills. They can make alot of money but it also cost alot of money to lease land, a giant stage, security, sound system, electricity, payments to the local government, tickets and so and so on. If they do Bonnaroo, they show up, take fat payment and get on, no other worries! If there happens to be a rain storm like Coventry they dont care its not their fest and not their problem.

fwiw, i'm one of a couple of people from PT who started the phish at roo threads, and i believe that my source is the most legit of the bunch - although several people had similar contacts. if you feel like digging for what my handle is over there, go for it, but i'm not going to disclose it here. if you need a little something to establish my credibility, the best i can do is to say that i also posted heavily over here last year during the radio roo clues stuff, when dj jd was dropping cryptic clues about bonnaroo lineup additions. as far as i'm concerned, i'm part of the community here, as well as on PT. i'm not bullshitting anyone, and i would be delighted if phish played roo. i also really only want to go through this once, so please pay attention.
here is my source on the phish rumor:
a close friend, someone i've known for years, is a woman who used to date fishman. she met him at college in VT, has been seeing the band since the 80s, and has seen hundreds of shows. they still talk on the phone periodically, he is hooking her up with passes to the hampton shows; in short, they are friends. a few months ago she was at the Loki festival in NC where fishman was playing with YMSB. they met up, hung out for an evening, and among the things he told her, he said that one of the things the band was most excited about in the upcoming summer tour is that they will be playing bonnaroo. he did not specify number of nights, but he did mention some other tour dates, most of which have become more or less official rumors on PT at this point, based on confirmations from many sources.
so, that's basically it. clearly the rumor is not officially confirmed, but i'm sure this woman was not lying to me. i also doubt seriously that fishman would lie to her. the way i see it, at the very least, as of a month or so ago fishman believed that phish would be playing bonnaroo. based on the band's new(ish) association with coran capshaw and his association with AC/Superfly, i think it is entirely likely - but until contracts are signed, i suppose nothing is set in stone. whether that has happened yet or not i do not know.

I bet I don't waste as much time as you researching band tour schedules 6 months in advance.
Considering I read it on here, you seem a little confused as to how I waste my time. That being said how do you think we figure out who is and isn't playing 'roo in advance? I do spend time looking at tour dates in advance however. I see a lot of live music, and a lot of festivals if you know who is playing you can set your priorities. I don't have a sports addiction like some people and I am sure I spend less time doing it than the average Georgia fan.

so, that's it. flame away.
Last year someone said they knew someone from security company that does roo and they were told to plan extra security because Metalica was playing. Anyway some people on inforoo trashed that guy and said he was full of shit. At that time I didn't see Metalica playing at all. So no flame here. healthy skepticism maybe.
PS i forgot to mention that i also solved one of dj jd's clues last year and won a cool prize
and yes, i will be buying my ticket on thursday.
now can someone tell me whether there is any credibility to this Bowie rumor, or is it just a pipe dream?
I'd say total pipe dream. Bowie usually puts together new bands before he goes on tours, and I haven't heard any word on movement in that direction for him.

^that's too bad, but to be expected.
so, lately the word i've been hearing has been phish for two nights (kinda surprising). is there a frontrunner for the other headliner, or are we still just guessing?
