I heard on NYC Q104.3 last night that Paul McCarney said he's not so sure about a full tour this year, but would prefer to do a sprinkling of one'offs over 2009 at places he's always wanted to play one day, but never has, before he plays the ultimate great gig in the sky... possibly as the Fireman, possibly not... (I don't remember the source of the interview the DJ quoted)
Hmmm... I guess the question is, has he always wanted to play the biggest established music festival in the USA?

that would be sooooooooo awesome... i know people might get a little mad at me for saying this... but i dont really want phish to be at the roo this year, dont get me wrong i love the band, i just feel like roo would be swamped with tons and tons of people, and i might not be able to get a ticket

This is why I DO think they'll be there and why they're having a presale.

lake trout anyone? what are the chances of them coming back do you think?
to answer my own question, it seems lake trout has joined UNKLE to form UNKLE Live. their myspace said UNKLE Live will be touring again in 2009 so maybe roo will grab them.

I think they're having a presale because people still have money and a ticket to Bonnaroo makes a great Christmas present.

going back to lake trout and unkle...
they should get more of those types of bands:
found this list on the homegrown music network (just google it):
lotus, lake trout or unkle or whatever, perpetual groove, leftover salmon, brothers past, american babies, assembly of dust, the slip, barefoot manner, cornmeal, delta novem, garaj mahal, hot buttered rum, laura reed, new monsoon, raq, ryan montbleau, seepeoples, strangefolk, stanley maxwell, the bridge, pnuma trio, vorcza, u-melt
i think a lot of these bands play the smaller festivals...i'm sure most of you have heard of them
^ p groove definately needs to come back. seepeoples would be pretty cool i saw them at trinumeral and it was a pretty cool show. i really want pnuma as well.

Many of those acts have played Roo if I'm not mistaken. All seem possible.

Thats so strange. I thought I read that UNKLE broke up of sorts. They had split and doing their own things. Evidently that was a hoax.
Karma for making me check that and yes. UNKLE for Roo 09'.

I wouldn't say it's a rumor. I'd just say it's a highly likely possibility. They've already confirmed they're getting back together and already confirmed some shows. If they play any festival, it'll be Bonnaroo. The various members of Phish have played Bonnaroo more than any other major festival. It seems like if they were to play a festival show, Bonnaroo would be it (Rothbury's too young). Not who'd I'd necessarily want as the big headliner (PAUL MCCARTNEY), but who I think it will be
3 of 4 members of phish were at rothbury last year... what makes you think that the 4th member wont join them next year?
i think its likely that phish will do bonnaroo AND rothbury...
OK. Straight from a Superfly representative: "The reason why we decided to do a 5 payment plan now was to allow for more people to get tickets through a smaller payment plan and to package our Christmas/Holiday Merchandise. With the economy what it is, we figured smaller payments would help induce more ticket sales." When asked about a possible reunion of ANY band at Bonnaroo, "Bonnaroo always strives to get a wide array of performers. In the past, we have had bands who reunited that headlined/showcased their talents at Bonnaroo. Without confirming any bands, it is very possible that this could again happen in 2009."
I have the email if anyone wants to see it. The name and email addy of the party has been backed out to ensure anonimity.

I know this one is a crazy prospect, but rumors of a No Doubt tour next year have been swirling and i could see them coming together to do Bonnaroo. I agree with the earlier notion of a Cheech and Chong set being great (Man, would that fit this festival or what?) and I am gonna throw one more crazy idea out there....KMFDM (late night definately!) How cool would that be??!? Combine those guys with say Ghostland Observatory back to back and you have total music bliss!

^I'd take just about any other EBM/industrial dance group over KMFDM... love the genre, just have never been able to get into it. Thrill Kill Kult would be fun in that vein.
The only thing I wonder about is Christine. She did not tour with them on the last tour. Not even positive she participated on the album. I would like to see the entire group.
Save me reading through 16 pages of wishlists. Do we have ANY confirmations yet?
Karma. My wish is that we have a thread limited to reliably sourced rumors and confirmations. You'd think that's what this thread is based on the title, but the content doesn't match.
