based on edgecrusher's list...and the fact that Saturday night headliner is normally the biggest...I'm thinking a reunited Pink Floyd or Talking Heads or original GNR and all are funky and heavier than Bruce/Phish
I call BS on this, but if he speaks the truth, then I hope to god it's Massive Attack. Perfect fit for Bonnaroo's vibe. If anyone has yet to hear them (I only got into them over the past year), here are some videos:
Plus, they *supposedly* have a new album coming out this year. If they get Massive Attack, Phish and Bruce Springsteen...wow.
Another band that fits what Edgecrusher has been saying is The Cure. That would be pretty nice as well.
Massive Attack would be amazing, but they would definitely be a late night set. They would be a great act to go against Phish though.
As for the Cure, that's a very good guess. Although, are they "funky?" In one sense of the word they definitely are, but thats not really what I thought he meant by funky.

I doubt that this year's saturday headliner will be the biggest band.

They headlined Coachella 2006. But yeah, there's a chance they would be a latenight act.

i remember that. tool fans caused a big fuss by chanting tool during massive attack and pissed lots of people off. good thing nothing like that happened at roo.

I know it will remove whatever credibility I might have ever had, but I was not offended by that Sweet Home Alabama remake thing that Kid Rock did last summer. Not that I actively liked it or anything, but it didn't tear my soul out and step on it or anything.
I expect no less than a twenty-point hit to my karma count for this.

as somebody mentioned in the springsteen thread norway is 8 hours ahead of tennessee(actually just looked it up and its 7). with the time difference its still possible we can get him for friday night. lets assume he plays from 8 to 11 pm in norway(just throwin a time out there), which means hes done playin at 4 pm on wed in tennessee. according to expedia the flight is about a 16 hour flight or so(that being a commercial plane which is slower then a private jet).
so lets says he takes 4 hours to get some food and get ready to board his jet we are looking at him leaving 8 pm on wed, bonnaroo time. he lands at noon on thursday bonnaroo time in nashville and hes lookin at a short drive to bonnaroo from there he can spend the night in nashville and take a bus to bonnaroo the following day.
so what edgecrusher has told us is not out of the question.
so once again take in to account the time difference and the fact that his flight is actually going to be quicker then what a commercial flight would be and its not out of the question. and if he wants he can even stick around the rest of the weekend

The Faces Reunion? Over at Jambase they have an article of Rod Stewart, Ronnie Wood reuniting the Faces an old band of theirs with FLEA from Red Hot Chili Peppers playing bass in the band. Is this the saturday headliner?

That's a good point with the time breakdown, but a couple things:
I don't know that Bruce's plane flies faster than other planes (pretty sure it doesn't actually.) Any direct flight would take the same amount of time. And depending on the distance, any plane has to stop for fuel. There is a weight difference due to people on the plane, but thats negligible compared to the massive weight of the plane. Granted, it can leave soon as he steps on the plane pretty much, so it would save some time, but not in the air.
You still make a good case that he could get here for Friday. But, they'd be putting up alot to chance. Any type of bad weather, or technical difficulties, or trouble getting through customs, what ever. They gotta go to Murphy's Law on this one, because they would look really bad if Bruce couldn;t make it and they didnt have a back up.
Adding to that, Bruce I think would want to be ready to go 100%. If he gets off a 16 hour flight that got him there even the day before he was supposed to go on, thats some serious jet lag. They are used to traveling (by bus I would think, maybe all planes in Europe.) 16 hours on a plane, I dont care who you are, takes a toll.
That being said, I'd still like to see him, and still think there's a shot for Saturday or sunday

a private jet is smaller, and therefor lighter, which does make it a quicker flight. i might be wrong there, but im pretty sure most private jets are faster then the larger commerical planes

agree and pretty sure Springsteen travels in style, so a bed may be on board or sofas, etc.

To go off topic and speak of that song he shit out last summer; It was a play on Sweet Home Alabama, right? Well, why in God's name did he sample Werewolves in London as the main track?
Makes absolutely no sense to me... he's a freaking moron. Can't even sample the right song.
