Lately I noticed there is some negativity on Inforoo, It has been against inforooster who have been on here for along time to new members. Without pointing out anyone I was just wanting to see if everyone can tone it down a bit. There has been a few times since I have been on that little jabs have ended in flame wars with people leaving inforoo or mods locking people out. Hopefully this wont happen again.
Being part of this community has helped me out a lot in not only Bonnaroo but with other festivals and finding new music and meeting some new friends. Actually if it wasn't for information and advice given to me on this site my first roo would have been miserable.
Just to put it in perspective about treating your other inforooster disrespectful just always listen to Mr. Rogers

There is a fine line between expressing an opinion and name calling, I try to stay on the opinion side. Even if I am expressing it strongly. However, every time I see someone who posts something along the lines of you are (nasty adjective) for liking this band or for wanting them at Bonnaroo I cringe. Realistically we are all quasi adults and should be able to behave better than that.
Opinions are one thing,strong opinions even.It's one thing to tell some one 'this band sucks', But to tell some one your gonna 'bang' thier spouse or telling people 'to shut the fuck up' is just irresponsible.
I for one would love to have the ignore this user button back.
Well I know we have a lot of pet trolls on this board, but I think some modding (not banning or anything) would work wonders for the vibe of the board.

I'm not even on here that often and my goodness..
It makes me completely want to avoid some people/threads on here. We're a community and there's no reason to personally attack anyone. Everyone is different and no one is going to like every single thing about another person- but it doesn't mean you can't accept it and act civil.

I agree, but it saddens me that we need a "babysitter" for the boards. I know people will have disagreements but if people are going to be derogatory towards other people's posts then I don't think there is room for them on these boards.

That kinda thing makes our work on here infinitely easier.

I do think it's been noticeably worse lately than it has in years past. I mean, I may just not recall this correctly but I don't remember anybody who consistently posts on the boards making personal attacks or simply telling people to "shut the fuck up" when they voice their opinion or any of that elementary school nonsense.
What's the deal with the ignore user button? Can it be brought back without immense inconvenience or effort? I mean, I probably wouldn't use it, mainly because I think when I see people get all pissy over nothing I sometimes like to sit back and think to myself "atleast I'm not THAT guy and i'm not so miserable as to unleash obscenities to people on the internet just to satisfy myself" But I can totally understand why people would want that function as an option.
I haven't really noticed anything out of the ordinary? It's always somewhat like what you described, that's just the way it's going to be, especially on a message board. I seldom run into any problems like those, directly, at least.
But, I do agree, it would be nice if everyone would be equally respectful of everyone else and their tastes or opinions.
Just change the background to an image of a nice, flowery field, a sweet sweet version of Kumbaya playing in the background, and have aroma therapy scents released through everyones keyboard...problem solved

I'm kinda a newbie but I do see your point. Some people throw around namecalling pretty easily. I assume you have lost core members or people have just quit coming up here.
I think this place has TONS to offer and most people seem to genuinely enjoy music and vibes. The one complaint I would have is that people too easily give Karma/take it away based on opinion. If everyone thought the same, that would really be boring. I think, however, that someone's opinion should be respected and not nailed so harshily.
Overall, the site is a winner and ran pretty well.

To me, we've had an influx of new people (which usually happens around this time) who like to troll and be mean to people.
Then when they get called out for trolling, or someone responds back to something nasty that was said, they say, "I WAS JUST KIDDING DONT TAKE ME SRSLY GUYS RITE?"
It really bothers me, sometimes I feel like people get away with things (not Dude, I can ignore him ) and it really discourages me from posting in certain threads...

I assume you're referring to me. Well I was just kidding and if it didn't seem that way then go ahead and let me know respectfully. I guess I just need to remember that I have a poor sense of humor. However, you need to realize that I am NOT serious most of the time.
Apparently someone has taken what I've said out of context since I seem to have been smited several times since yesterday. Not sure what I did to piss people off but I can assure you that anything I have ever said on here has been pretty good natured.
But honestly, it doesn't matter to me if some people on here don't think I derserve some karma from a button that you push since I know I have racked up enough RL karma to be happy and at peace with myself.

Edit...I didn't mean to hurt anybody's feelings, I like everybody here for the most part it just bums me out that people can be negative sometimes...cause I'm excessively optimistic.

I've been on here two year now I guess, with little posts compared to some other members but I've never had a problem. If you don't like where a thread is going, then don't read it or comment back. People are allowed strong opinions but sometimes the meaning in our own voice gets lost in the letters we type to a screen. Its quite sad actually, I recall so many times typing something whether it be an e-mail or on a forum and I delete that before pressing send because if a stranger or someone who isn't sitting right there with me reads the post, it may be construed in a nasty manner.

I can't imagine taking anyone seriously who is name calling or even paying attention to it, imho if your feelings get hurt because someone on here called you an asshole or something that your problem.
^I agree to a point, the problem is escalation, at which point an entire thread becomes unreadable then you get people who start doing it for fun. Pretty soon it is PT threads, and thats what I hope we can avoid.
