Anyone have experience and tips on getting a hammock? I was thinking of the ENO with the slap straps. I know it wouldn't be ideal for Roo since there aren't many trees but maybe for waka and other fests.

I've got an ENO DoubleNest w/ slap straps and love it. Grapefruit-ish size when packed tight and a 400lb load limit I think. I think I remember seeing people have hammocks in Centeroo, so I'm taking mine. I also built a portable hammock stand similar to the one in the video below. It wasn't too hard if you have a few tools. You can look more up if you search for "Turtle Dog Hammock Stand."

Thank you! That is the one I was looking at. What accessories have you purchased to go with it?
abrakapokus I just bought some of the Twilight string lights, but that's only because they were 75% off at an REI scratch and dent sale. They didn't work, but I knew I could fix them. If you don't have a backpack to put the hammock in, the possum bag or whatever is a good add.

Thanks for the info! Now off to find some deals and those twinkly lights caught my eye too.

I have soooo many different misters.
I have one of these that I love but haven't used much because of the bulkiness. I used it a bunch in 2011 but haven't needed it as much the past 2 years.
Also have one of these. What I said above applies to it as well. I carry way too much stuff in my camelbak & these are usually one of the first things to go.
Will probably buy one of these for this year, after Phyre Fest let me borrow his last year when I was feeling sick. I mean, you can't have too many misters/fans, right??

This reminded me I need to get some stuff like this to stay cool this year. I found cheaper versions of these things on ebay shipping from hong kong
Hey, on this note, are we allowed to bring an umbrella in? I wouldn't use it in crowds obv but it might be nice to have for shade breaks when sitting down, waiting in line at the comedy tent, etc

I took an umbrella in the last three years and didn't get any flack at the gate. i wouldn't have made it through Mavis Staples without it!

There are a bunch of tents and cots on sale, too. I didn't dig around any more than that. Ohh plus there's an extra 5% off all that stuff through tomorrow (4/5)
Just a heads up for those (like me) that procrastinated on the Academy deal. Sears is now selling the Sierra II for $59.99 with a $3 online order coupon (auto-applied). Combine that with the $5 coupon Madeline shared, I bought mine for $51.99 ($56.41 including tax), along with free in-store pick up. Not sure how long this price will hold, but jump while the jumping's good.

Did you just use centeroo water to refill your mister? I bought the bigger deluxe version last year and after the first day, the nozzle was stopped up and I wasn't able to use it the rest of the weekend. Wasn't sure if the centeroo well water had something to do with it.....?
hobi316, I've never had that problem, but I do tend to use bottle water or water I bring from home. I don't have a lot of patience for the water stations. I camp close enough to Centeroo to go back & forth as needed. This will be my 4th Roo & it still works fine.
Sorry if it's been posted or is obvious, but DOLLAR TREE!!! Or whatever is the equivalent in your neck of the woods. Found some Frogg Toggs knock offs for $1, and while I was aimlessly wandering the isles I saw SO much crap that will be needed, all for $1 while it's $5+ at WallyWorld.

I have one of these (maybe not the same one but close to it) thanks to QSAROO <3 <3 and I'll probably use it under an easy up for some festivals for waka though at the stages there are LOTS of trees you can toss a hammock up in so I would need it to be super portable.

BTW since I'm thinking of using this and an easy up instead of a tent at Roo, have you used yours in that way? Did it get cold? Have you dealt with rain?

Yup, that's what I do. Hammock, EZ-Up and cooler is pretty much my whole camp setup (I don't need no steenking churrs). I did get cold the first night of my first year, but after a trip to the vendors, I had a blanket that has kept me warm on many a night since. I just make sure that I wear sweats and maybe more than one pair of socks. It works out though because I usually sleep til about 10:30, and I hear that that's not the norm for tent-sleepers. I use a combination of tapestries/tarps for walls - definitely a tarp on the sunrise side, and maybe rolled up on the other sides too in case of rain. Rain isn't as much fun with tapestries, but if you tie the bottom corners to the EZ-Up poles it keeps most of the rain out, you just gotta make sure that nothing is touching the tapestry. Tent stakes are imperative too - last year we didn't use enough and apparently our camp started to blow away, but our neighborly neighbors gave us some stakes and tied our EZ-Up down when we were away.

I purchased the academy 10X10 canopy (like the ezup they had for 50$), it is literally the same thing as the ezup. Tarp part and the frame is of same quality as I can tell. I have only set it up once when I got it, and it handled these high country winds (boone NC) just fine. I suggest all of you get this. Its cheap and is the same thing has the ezup academy used to sell for this price.
Minimus is a great website to get small portions of foods, first aid type stuff, and hygiene products. Plus free shipping for orders of $20 which is easy to come by.
