I bought the same one about a year ago and used it in a tent at Bonnaroo last year. It just fit diagonally in a 9x7 tent. The frame is very solid and easy enough to set up. The holes in the sliders at the bottom can be a little tricky to line up, but not too bad. You wouldn't take it backpacking, but it is light and compact enough for car camping. The mesh seemed like a great idea for the summer (hot mornings at Roo), but mine started coming apart at multiple seems after about 2 nights. It is also a little on the short side and not "craddley." I fashioned another hammock bed from a sheet and some rope, which works at least as well as the stiff included one. So if you are 200+ pounds and close to 6', or over, you might want to consider something else. For smaller people it may hold up better.
Overall I'm not disappointed with it, for the price, but if I make it to Roo this year I'll probably buy or borrow a cot and just leave the hammock on my porch for occasional naps. I've found that I much prefer to lie flat rather than having my feet and head slightly elevated like this hammock requires, since it is impossible to keep your knees straight like that.

hey guys i had a question for you all. I'm in the process of getting a tent and an ezup. but instead of buying both would it be better to buy one of those big coleman tents with a rainfly. I've seen some on ebay going for an everage of 100 bucks

If you can only buy one or the other get the ezup. You can make walls around it with sheets, tapestries, tarps or whatever. If you only have a tent and no shade structure you'll regret it.

really even those big family ones that are live 20x11?
Unless it is a tent where you can make every side be only screen, then yes. Your tent, no matter how big will act as an oven. It's not about the size it's about the airflow.

If it is for you and 1-2 other people and you have $100 I'd go for a $40-$50 tent (Coleman or Walmart brand, whaetver) plus a $50 canopy from Sears or Academy Sports. I like having an enclosed space like a tent, but you definitely don't want to be in there once the sun comes up, which is where the canopy comes into play. Some people even sleep outside, under their canopies, and forget tents altogether for Bonnaroo. My group had a huge tent in 2011 but I slept on a cot-like chair outside, and I was happy. Last year I slept in a tent by myself though.
Don't plan on being able to sleep past 8 or 9 in a tent if it is hot and you have no shade, and a tent is unbearable during the day.
Apparently the $50 canopies Academy sells are just like the E-Z Up brand they used to sell and that so many of us swear by? Cheap tents are usually fine short term, but I'd be slightly more choosy with canopies. Generic pop-up ones can be okay, but I warn against the flimsy ones where you have to put the legs together and whatnot.

im not sold on the academy ones the legs look so flimsy. thinking of getting the sierra 2 for 64 bucks from sears. but idk they only have 2 left in stock and the only store that has them in stock is about an hour away. if you buy it online with intent to pick up do they reserve it for you, or am i gonna drive only to find out they have sold out

I bought one late last week (Thanks Madeline btw). It processes like an internet order. They just email you when it is ready to pick up. abrakapokus ended up picking it up for me, but the guy I spoke to on the phone said all she needed was to show them the confirmation email.

I bought the Sierra II from Sears two years ago. It is definitely not flimsy and has not let me down. It also has a really heavy duty bag with wheels which is really helpful.

Tell me you got a purple one.
I think it's blue. I didn't have a choice with the EZ-Up. The different colored ones were the Academy ones.

When I picked it up, I just dealt with a kiosk. I put in the order number and out of a door came an older man with the easy up. He didn't confirm anything but did call me honey and refuse to let me help lift it.
That was probably one of the best things I brought with me last year.
You can't bring that into Centeroo, can you? I'd imagine not but it would be cool to set that up at the back of the what stage field and relax

Good point - probably not. I just used mine at my campsite. It was a slightly different design than the one in the picture and it was so light-weight we would just rotate it with the sun and we always had shade.

The last two years, I have seen those in Centeroo. Both times, it was parents with small children, so they may have made an exception in letting them in with such a large tent. BUT, it has happened.
nice Misting info... I just made a drunk amazon one click buy
I got it in the mail today! I just finished testing it out. It works even better than I expected. Just pump it 10-15 times and it mists you with the whole rest of the bottle if you want. It's not like a 90s Super Soaker where you have to keep pumping constantly. definitely bringing it to Roo. thanks custeph
Anyone own either of these? I'm not looking to spend a lot of $ since Roo will probably be the only time I use a tent, honestly. Second one looks awesome and easy to put up but since it's "instant", does that make it less durable and more flimsy if there were to be bad weather? I already own an EZ Up, will be using a blowup mattress so if one of these has nice ventilation, I should be good to go.

I don't have either of those, but my old tent is an Ozark Trail. It held up pretty well over multiple uses. As far as those two go, the first thing that sticks out to me is that the instant tent has 2 windows whereas the other has 4 though the back window in the instant looks bigger.

Okay great, glad OT holds up. Yeah that's true, the more windows the better. The convenience of the instant is the only reason it's in the conversation

It's a two pole tent which shouldn't be that hard to put up. With everyone, I always recommend people set up their tent once before they get to Roo as practice can really help especially if you are coming in overnight and will be setting up in the dark.
