REI is having a "their biggest sale of the year" for their anniversary. Members will save 20% off of one full item, and an extra 20% off of one outlet item. The outlet is a great deal, I just grabbed a 4 person tent I've been eyeing for a while for $80 (original value $160) and a propane grill for $40 (original value $125).
Aldi has camping stuff in their seasonable buys area. They had a full size/queen air mattress for $24.99 and a 2-room dome tent for $69.99. My store was out, but they also had camp chairs for $7.99 and some little grills (didn't see the price for those). Worth checking out!

Awesome! Just bought a pair of Asics trail running shoes for my comfy roo footwear. I have a super shitty arch and lower back problems so the amount of walking kills me every year.

I have the twin size version of this air mattress, which I bought at Wal Mart last year for around $10. It slept very comfortably at Roo last year and it's been used several times for house guests, and it's still holding up nicely.

Wal-Mart has that same air mattress online for the same price. The one I bought it at let me price match it. Other Wal-Marts have not let me do that in the past though. The one I got had a leak in it, so it's best you test it out beforehand before you head out to Roo. It was comfortable though.
My Anker is on the way from Amazon. bacon's trial run is what pushed me over the edge to get it. abrakapokus is going to take it with her to Waka, so that should give it a good test before Roo.
She also found Earlove.net for ear plugs. I have never had many issues with my hearing, but the more people I talk to makes it seem like I should count myself lucky and start doing something to keep it that way. They have a nice deal right now where you can get two sets with a case for each for $25 shipped. My order shipped this morning, so I will let people know how long shipping takes since they don't specify on the site (I am not going to argue with free though.)

I have a pair of Hi-Fi ear plugs that are a different brand but look the exact same as those. They just don't do it for me. Despite saying they lessen everything equally and keep sound clear when I where them the low end gets really muddy and overwhelms the sound. I still carry them at most shows but only use them for the shitty opening band situation.
I've been thinking about the earplug issue lately. Keep me posted.
Will do. They look practically identical to the cheap Etymotic plugs that I have seen recommended in the past. Also, they are partnering with Dancesafe at some upcoming festivals which is always a bonus point.
Those look pretty much like these from Etymotic. I have a pair of these that stay in my car. I take them with me to pretty much every show, and use them maybe 1/2 to 2/3 of the time? It depends on the show and how loud it is.
Protecting my hearing is pretty important to me. My dad went to too many shows when he was young, and his hearing took a toll. I never wanted to be the guy always asking, "Huh? What did you say?" I want to be able to listen to music when I'm 60 and still hear those details.
The Etymotic ones are nice, WAAAAAY better then standard foam ear plugs, but obviously not at the level of custom ones musicians use. They do change the sounds slightly, but my brain adjusts to it and it sounds normal after 5 minutes. I've noticed they tend to cut out some very high pitch feedback/squalls/distortion. Which can be nice sometimes when you're in a small club with terrible sound.
There are some shows I just don't wear them though, most recently when I was front row for Tool, and Avey Tare's and Panda Bear's sets at Psych Fest. I just wanted the full on assault then.
Definitely recommended though, they're only $15.
Actually, now that I think about it, I own 2 pairs. Thought I lost mine once and ordered some more.
Hmm, haven't really noticed the low end issue that bacon is describing. I usually don't completely insert them in my ear, maybe half way. Maybe that's part of the difference?
Like I said, I don't believe their claim that they don't alter the sound at all, but they're the best option for me until I feel like dropping a couple hundred on some custom made ones.
Edit: One benefit of wearing these, is that I'm normally able to sidle up near the speaker stack. Not many people stand there since it's so loud, but with the earplugs, I'm able to get a good spot and not go deaf!
Also, just checked out Earlove's website and they mention going to Etymotic for inspiration. So I'd be willing to bet these are probably made in the same Chinese factory.

I got a queen mattress with built in battery pump at my local Sam's for $30. So buying the pump and bed separate will probably save you a few bucks, I just didn't want one more thing to keep track of.

Yea, i've heard people talk positively about ear plugs but part of me fears it'd just muddy up the sound a bit. I guess I need to try them first but I've never made the jump to use them yet.
I am definitely thinking about the charger thing you guys have been recommending. I have a cheap one but only lasts like one charge. I know we'll have cars this year nearby but I think I may still grab the Anker thing.

They need to find a way to make an EZ-up style thing that can easily travel by air. I mean....I guess I could check the item but the ones I have now are a bitch to transport. Can't someone invent something so I can continue to be lazy.

if you don't stake them down, they travel by air pretty easily it seems. or i could buy one, rent it to you for $25 + deposit, and let you travel in leisure!

Just chiming in on the earplug conversation...
I own those Etymotic earplugs, and I wear them to every single show these days. It does alter the tone slightly, but nowhere near as muffled as the drug store foam style plugs. After one song my brain adjusts and I can't tell a difference. The most important thing with these plugs is they have to seal properly. Everyone has differently shaped ears, which is why the only perfect solution are custom molded, but the Etymotic style comes pretty darn close for most ears. I'd say that if there are drastic tonal changes with the Etymmotics, the problem is either improper usage or improper size.
When I first started wearing them, I was afraid they weren't working at all. That's how close to natural the sound is for me. I love the feeling I get when I pull the Etymotics out at the end of a show and realize how much volume I saved from my ears. I haven't had my ears ring in years.
Maybe not for everyone, but they're essential for me.

You should definitely give them a shot, it's only a $15 gamble. I personally love mine, my ears would definitely have experienced more hearing loss if I didn't have them. Once they're in for a few minutes, my brain adjusts to them and they sound pretty good.
With the exception of the recent Tool show, I haven't woken up the next morning with my ears still ringing in 5+ years. And like I said, I don't wear them to every show, it really depends on how loud it is.
Ask yourself, in 30 years would you rather be sitting in an audiologist's office getting fitted for hearing aids (and spending >$2k easy), or happy you wore some $15 ear plugs?

I think we have enough communal shade so you can use one of my ez ups for over your tent. It has to be one of my pink ones though. I won't even charge you $25 like that other guy.
