this thread is pretty dead but some 2018 deals would be sweet if anyone has any.
Looking for an EZ UP brand 10x10
I know you want EZ UP brand, but I've had this brand/style for 3 years. It's been to 3 Bonnaroos, multiple camping trips and outdoor kid events. Strong, strong straight legs which gives more coverage than a slant leg. Wouldn't hesitate buying again when mine needs to be replaced.

I would also vouch for this brand. Ours has also done 3 Roos as well as camping trips and backyard family parties. We actually picked up a second for my brother, who Roos with us. Holding up great!

How does it do with leaving the roof on? Obviously have to be careful it doesn't snag but beyond that is it viable to leave the cover on when packing/unpacking?

We have always taken ours off to store. Kind of annoying but I think it’s helped it stay in good shape.

Academy brand ones are good and, I think, they’re only $50. I couldn’t find it online but I know they have them in the stores. They’re great quality and mine still looks new after two Roos.

I don't take my roof off, though I know I should. Never had a problem with it snagging

Same here, I loosen or remove the velcro straps or pull the corners off but never remove the tops. Have used a cheap E-Z Up, a Qwest from Weiners, and a generic one from Woot. They're all holding up after a good bit of use, the the Qwest looks like it will bend up before the older E-Z Up and isn't long for this world. All three were worth the $50 or so they cost.
Just don't get the super-flimsy "dining" canopies with thin, un-coated fabric tops that they sell at discount stores for $30-$40. The plastic connectors on those are weak but the metal is even worse. The commercial grade E-Z Ups like you see at flea markets and whatnot are incredibly sturdy, but they're heavy and are $$$. Probably worth it if you plan on using them a lot but not for a music festival now and then.
The sale might be over, but this style is great for hanging out at the campsite and potentially cot sleeping too. I don’t have experience with this specific model or brand though.

I'm attending my first Roo this year, and am wondering what your setup is? You use the Ozark 10X10 EZ Up I saw in a recent post. Is that all you and your crew use for shelter? Do you just hang tapestries all around it for some walls? Or do you sleep in tents alongside the EZ up?
I'm hoping to set up a little ecofriendly pop up "hostel" at Roo for people coming to the farm but don't want to lug their stuff or deal with the setup/clean up. I'm also going to carpool with everyone who stays with me, to reduce our individual carbon footprints.
Thanks for the link. Beware though, I checked a few items and the prices before the 25% discount were seriously inflated, as in double what I've seen elsewhere and more than you're likely to pay locally. One example: Sundome 4-person tent for $99, I think I paid $40 some years ago, and $50 is pretty common, $58 on Amazon right now. Others may be better (like I said, only checked a few things), and this looks like a great place to do some research and compare things to figure out what meets your needs, then I would definitely shop around before buying.

Ty for pointing out! Didn't end up buying anything, and now very happy I made that call

In case anyone needed a quality backup battery phone bank that is relatively cheap and lightweight. It has 50,000 mAh and four USB outlets and a small light. Different colors. Works very well.
13.99 with free shipping. I know some battery phone banks "claim" to have a high mAh but don't measure up. This one does.

Even if this one is more like 20,000 or 25,000 mAh (I'm skeptical due to the size, and knowing that it is common to overstate the capacity), this is a good price. Definitely worth getting something like this if you go to festivals or whatever, especially if you aren't an old grandma and actually use your phone's camera and other features. Brand isn't too important, since most of these use the same types of cells and other internals.
There are charging options inside Centeroo and in a few other locations but they're far from ideal. Use one of these overnight and you'll be good for most of the day, at least. Portable enough to carry in a backpack, if you need to. I don't have this particular model but I wouldn't hesitate to grab one if I didn't already have something very similar. You certainly won't do much better than $14 shipped.

What's the new must-have gadget, convenience doohickey, or camp thingamabob out this year? I finally got a self-inflating sleeping pad. It actually self DEflates better than it self INflates, so I won't be sharing a link to that.
But I did just see some Etymotic hi-fi ear plugs on sale for under $10. The "standard fit" with frost tip and clear stem are $9.35 shipped with Prime, and some other variations are a little more. These are what I've been using, and they're entry level hi-fi plugs - they are tuned well enough that the music still sounds pretty natural and you can talk to someone next to you, with the noise level cut down. I'd urge anyone who wants to be up near the front at Roo shows or who goes to club shows to invest in some sort of hearing protection. Something like this or better will let you enjoy the music, both now and when you are older and still want to go!
Tinnitus sucks, and hearing loss is usually permanent. If you've ever had that pressure or ringing in your ears after a show, maybe the next day, that's a clue that the volume was at a potentially dangerous level.

Bumping this oldie but goodie thread. So excited to return to the Farm after a year off and looking through the ol’ gear pile to see what needs updated.
The 6-person Coleman tent I’ve used every year since my first Roo (2011) has lasted way beyond the modest $100 price tag would have suggested, but I think she’s getting tired.
Any favorite tents for 2020 (and yes I know people like sleeping under their EZups for the air circulation but I’m too light sensitive, even with the tapestries etc.). Will also be taking two small kids camping in whatever we buy, so I family tent recommendations are particularly welcome. TIA!

Last winter I bought an Ozark Trail instant tent, something like 10'x9' on clearance at Walmart for $50 ($80-$100 normally). I like Coleman as a value brand for car camping and generally avoid OT products, but it isn't bad. I used it for about 15 nights last year and it did fine. The pre-attached poles seem sturdy and go up super easy, and it's tall enough to move around in easily. The floor is less than confidence-inspiring but I haven't punctured it yet. One like that might be big enough for two adults and two small kids, assuming you don't need to store much gear inside and mainly plan to use it just for sleeping.
The Coleman canopy I picked up just before Roo last year is a beast - very sturdy, and seems much stronger than my old E-Z Up and the other cheap ones I've used.

Thank you, @uv_ajed! We use the tent mostly for sleeping and just try to put a diaper bag, maybe a bookbag inside with a spare change of clothes and a lantern & fan. We have cots with personal organizers and an air mattress and a number of yoga mats we can play Tetris with to figure out sleeping arrangements. Appreciate the tip!

Wanted: small, security-compliant backpack or other solution for carrying sunscreen, a water bottle, and a few other small items. Preferably not vinyl but willing to consider anything. I'm not young enough for a fanny pack to be "ironic," and not old enough to stop giving a shit (or am I??).
Life was so much easier when I could wear my super-comfortable hydration pack and not be looked at like an opioid-smuggling terrorist. *sigh*

Bumping to revive this thread in case anyone has some new gear they love or spots a good deal. Also, I need somewhere to focus my Roo energy that’s not the lineup speculation thread.
We’re renewing our new tent search, never pulled the trigger once COVID hit, so would personally love any tips on tent deals. Also in the market for a new cooler (you had a good run, giant Coleman) and more tapestries.

The Lifetime coolers from Walmart are near perfect Yeti knock offs and a much nicer price.
In the market for some solar powered string lights and a hydro pak, just in case anyone happens upon a good deal. I can’t find mine all of a sudden. Thanks in advance.
