I didn't say anything negitive or hateful i don't think. And i don't begin to say I have any idea how hard his job must have been..or will Obama's job be!
I am just officially saying I am so glad to have new leadership with a fresh outlook on the world. Gives me hope for the future and my girl's future who are 4 and 12....
For the record though I don't think he made descions that were good for hardly any of the people.
Thanks guys - the one place I did not have to really deal with Bush bashing and now I have this - just made this day even better for me - I really appreciate it.
I will support Obama because he is our elected President and he deserves the country's support. he has a long hard road ahead of him.
BUT - while you are all bashing on Bush - I want you to remember one thing - think about how difficult it is to try and make a decision that will effect millions of people and try to make the right decision - you can't because the decision will not always be the right thing for ALL of the people.
I'm done with Inforoo for the day now - ya'll have a great day - I'll see you tomorrow
Talk to me when you've lived half your life under the man's governance...
The man spent 1 1/2 years of his presidency on vacation. And if you think he tore himself up over decisions he made, you don't know the man.

You know I love ya Meg but you had to know what this thread was gonna have in it before you opened it. If it was gonna upset you that much, maybe you should have avoided it altogether. Inforoo is not a politcal vacuum.
I (and I assume most "Bush bashers" here) are just blowing off steam after what we see as 8 very, very very bad years for ourselves and the Nation. I'm happy that Obama is soon to be President but ECSTATIC that Bush & Co. are all but gone. I'm just posting my feelings on stuff like always. Sorry if that upsets you but...
Try to not take this or any political thread here so personally. Avoid them if you must.
Once again, remember that I (and we all) love ya and respect your opinions.

It is fun having three different sources of information about the swearing in.
The shot of the moving van being packed is one of the better pictures of the last few years.
I have been reading the book - "The Shock Doctrine", written by a person from kanuckistan. she is someone who cannot vote on things like a US election. It is scary to look in retrospect at some of the things that happened in the US in the last few years.
Just like those events did not make me happy, I am CERTAIN that others will not like some of the things that happen in the next few month's.
PEACE all. A historic event at this moment in time.
No, president-elects become presidents at noon on January 20th - even if the oath is not taken. That's in the 20th Amendment. CNN even mentioned that, even though he hadn't taken the oath, Obama became president at noon. So he was technically already president as he took the oath.
Anyway, to get back on topic:
I'm sure he feels relieved to be back in civilian life. Here's to hoping he's capable of making Laura's coffee tomorrow morning.
^^I'm told from very good sources that for the past year and a half all Bush has spent a lot of his time joking with staffers about how much money he's going to make when he leaves office. And Dallas is certainly a more friendly environment for him than DC.
And I can guarantee that Laura is glad to be gone. She apparently wasn't too thrilled about going in the first place.

I'm pretty sure that the previous president is no longer president at noon and the president-elect becomes president when he takes the oath. There's debate about who is technically president between 12:00 pm and the oath, but there's never been a situation to actually test it.

I'm just glad we have a new president and a chance at peace and love and tolerance!
This is really what it is all about!
Here's to a real chance for us to come together and celebrate history being made...a president we can all get behind and support instead of feeling lesser than...
For me and mine i have hope that my girls may grow up in a world where differences are celebrated not just tolerated. and where peace really isn't just a sign on a t-shirt or slogan thats sounds good to say but actually a reachable and attainable goal that they may see in their lifetime if not one we can see in ours.
After the last 4 years, I have no idea how anyone can say anything positive about Bush. "You don't know the type of decisions he had to make." Uhhh, you mean like the decision of whether or not to break with the Geneva Convention and endorse torture? Or perhaps the decision to go into Iraq instead of Afganistan? Or maybe maybe it was the decision to just wait and see what happens after Hurrican Katrina? I mean, c'mon! When are people going to stop cutting this guy a break?

....just keep in mind this republican war
John Glenn (DEMOCRAT) said this ----- It should make us all think a little:
There were 39 combat related killings in Iraq in January. In the fair city of Detroit there were 35 murders in the month of January. That's just one American city, about as deadly as the entire war-torn country of Iraq.
When some claim that President Bush shouldn't have started this war, tell them the following :
FDR (DEMOCRAT) led us into World War II. Germany never attacked us; Japan did. From 1941-1945, 450,000 lives were lost ... an average of 112,500 per year.
Truman (DEMOCRAT) finished that war and started one in Korea. North Korea never attacked us. From 1950-1953, 55,000 lives were lost ... an average of 18,334 per year.
John F. Kennedy (DEMOCRAT) started the Vietnam conflict in 1962. Vietnam never attacked us.
Johnson (DEMOCRAT) turned Vietnam into a quagmire. From 1965-1975, 58,000 lives were lost ... an average of 5,800 per year.
Clinton (DEMOCRAT) went to war in Bosnia without UN or French consent. Bosnia never attacked us. He was offered Osama bin Laden's head on a platter three times by Sudan and did nothing. Osama has attacked us on multiple occasions. (Think about what else was going on during that time in the C linton Whitehouse!!)
This one is a fact that makes me mad as hell.
In the years since terrorists attacked us, President Bush has liberated two countries, crushed the Taliban, crippled al-Qaida, put nuclear inspectors in Libya, Iran, and, North Korea without firing a shot, and captured a terrorist who slaughtered 300,000 of his own people. And the Democrats are complaining about how long the war is taking.
But Wait, There's more.
It took less time to take Iraq than it took Janet Reno (DEMOCRAT) to take the Branch Davidian compound. That was a 51-day operation ..
We've been looking for evidence for chemical weapons in Iraq for less time than it took Hillary Clinton (DEMOCRAT) to find the Rose law firm billing records.
It took less time for the 3rd Infantry Division and the Marines to destroy the Medina Republican Guard than it took Ted Kennedy to call the police after his Oldsmobile sank at Chappaquiddick.
It took less time to take Iraq than it took to count the votes in Florida!!! TWICE!
Our Commander-In-Chief is doing a GREAT JOB! The Military morale is high! The biased media hopes we are too ignorant to realize the facts. < FONT face=Tahoma color=black size=4>But Wait ....There's more!
JOHN GLENN (on the Senate floor - January 26, 2004)
Some people still don't understand why military personnel do what they do for a living. This exchange between Senators John Glenn and Senator Howard Metzenbaum is worth reading. Not only is it a pretty impressive impromptu speech, but it's also a good example of one man's explanation of why men and women in the armed services do what they do for a living.
This IS a typical, though sad, example of what some who have never served think of the military.
Senator Metzenbaum (speaking to Senator Glenn): 'How can you run for Senate when you've never held a real job?'
Senator Glenn (D-Ohio): 'I served 23 years in the U nited States Marine Corps. I served through two wars. I flew 149 missions. My plane was hit by anti-aircraft fire on 12 different occasions. I was in the space program. It wasn't my checkbook, Howard; it was my life on the line. It was not a nine-to-five job, where I took time o ff to take the daily cash receipts to the bank. I ask you to go with me, as I went the other day . .. to a veteran's hospital and look those men ... with their mangled bodies ... in the eye, and tell THEM they didn't hold a job!
You go with me to the Space Program at NASA and go, as I have gone, to the widows and orphans of Ed White, Gus Grissom and Roger Chaffee ... and you look those kids in the eye and tell them that their DAD'S didn't hold a job.
You go with me on Memorial Day a nd you stand in Arlingto n National Cemetery , where I have more friends buried than I'd like to remember, and you watch those waving flags ... You stand there, and you think about this nation, and you have the gall to tell ME that those people didn't have a job? What about Metzenbaum? For those who don't remember During W.W.II, Howard Metzenbaum was an attorney representing the Communist Party in the USA .
Now he's a Senator!
If you can read this, thank a teacher. If you are reading it in English, thank a Veteran.
keep in mind, i hate wars and all that nonsense, but, think about the other wars (democrat led) to the republican war
also keep in mind this was sent to me by a very republican boss of mine
