I see... makes sense. In the past I've had very little issue because when you're parked for a show, it's tough to run and grab a beer, so just the difficulty of getting beer has slowed my drinking. But I hear you on the water. I've got a camelbak this year for that exact purpose - I blew way too much money on water in centeroo in past years.
I found this on another thread as a solution for hydration that I thought was the best I have heard so far. It seems to work especially well for hangover time. It's called Gookinade Hydralyte.

I am full go with the training. Each morning I wake and enter the sauna. I stay in it till 8 or 9 at night. I have a piss bucket just inside the door. I filled it with rotten unmentionables and capped it. When I cannot stand it any longer I stand next to it and wait 48 minutes before I open it and try to go. Typically I really start sweating at that point and gag a few times before closing it up promising not to go again until tomorrow. Starting about noon I line up about 25 smoker freinds and have them sit with me as long as they can in the sauna blowing smoke in my face. Also at noon I load the bonnaroo mix on my ipod and blast it loud as it shuffles. I take 200 steps back and forth in the sauna practicing getting to the next stage in between songs. I stare most of the afternoon at the 6 gallons of vodka all poured into plastic jugs thinking that I am way too hot and dehydrated to even touch it.
And then like a miracle in walks a vision (that I also hired) a 22 year old golden toned hair wrapped beauty with a white smile. she sits next to me smelling of exotic oils and cinnamon. THis beauty says to the beast that is me, can I stay and party with you? She finds a replay of the MMJ late night show of 06 and we sway together to wordless chorus. The hours slip away, the music is intoxicating and 80 thousand people just like me become my friends.
I think I am ready and wouldnt miss it for the world.

Have any of you tried the propel fitness water? It doesn't have a lot of sugar in it and it's flavored water. On their website, it says:
"Each serving provides B vitamins (B6, B12, Niacin and Pantothenic Acid) to aid in energy metabolism as part of a daily diet, as well as antioxidant vitamins C and E."
I have tried the black cherry, and I have to say it tastes pretty damn good! It comes in 13 different flavors. I'm gonna buy a few cases of the stuff to take so I can have the option of some fruity flavors!
It's how Gatorade does water!
EDIT: After I posted this I noticed I got the name wrong...I was actually talking about POWERade Option. It has only 10 calories and 2 grams of sugar in it. I shouldn't have a lot of sugar, and this might be a great alternative to Gatorade! It has electrolytes and B-vitamins as well!

Bum F'n Egypt....the sticks...uncomfortable walk to centeroo.
Guess I should have refreshed first! I am trying to get rested..in shape. tan and all that but really, trying to prepare for bringing the things that I know I'll need to regenerate while there. I am not used to staying up late and partying. I have to train myself in that aspect.
I definately found the best way to cut the pounds is a daily sex routine. It's a full body work out. The hours just fly by and if you go a week or 2 to weigh yourself you REALLY notice a difference. I've been on a strict sex and cigarette regiment for the last couple of months (recent split from a stagnent 3 yr relationship and new love interest) and am down almost 20 lbs! Woo!
I've also been training with my Rizlas. Gotta look like you know what you're doing in this sort of an enviroment. My problem areas include straight and even cones, final product density and structural integrity when the full paper is used (Bigg-uns). My R&D department (me) is hard at work to resolve these issues while constantly working on technique improvements.
Walking doesn't bother me. I'm a boy scout (man scout); I hike, I camp, I deal with adverse weather conditions. A 45 min walk is a 3 1/2 4 mile walk. I find it hard to belive anything on the farm is really that far.
Side note: What do cigarette papers cost down there? I need to stock up, due to Rhode Island tobacco laws papers cost upwards of $7 a pack w/o tobaccy. It's astronomically rediculous.

I live in Knoxville, and in high school there was this place where we could go that had them for two dollars a pack (no tax).
Generally, they're under $3 a pack, I've never seen them cost more. The Manchester natives would be smart to bump the prices up at Bonnaroo time, though.

I'm following your advice. I just got back from the Wanee Festval in Live Oak, FL. Two days with the Allman Brothers and Friends was a great way to start the season. It's half as far away for me than Bonnaroo and I found out while there that it's one of atleast three music fests they have there every year. I missed Suwanne Sprignfest last month, but I'm looking forward to going back for Magnolia Fest in October. Just like last year's Roo, the rain held off untill the walk back to camp after Derek Trucks and Susan Tedeschi's festival closing midnight to 2 am set.

Maybe for a young and fit person - for a 40 year old who doesn't exercise, think again - actually the people in their late 20s with me struggled also. Plus add the 90 degree heat with no shade to that walk. Believe me it is a 45 minute walk when you are camped on the outskirts.

Don't forget the smile muscles. I'm tired of seeing paramedics hovering over newbies with facial cramps. An 18-hour grin is something you need to work up to.

Cut back on the caffeine, drinking more water. Walking 3+ miles a day....trying to get more sun so I don't bake and blister even with the 50 SPF....I figure the beer/alcohol intake won't really increase much since this has turned into a working vacay....can't really go too overboard, won't be able to read my notes ??? Maybe late nights....I can always make up the sh** about late nights, who's gonna remember the details about them anyways

Best Roo training that I have encountered is 110 degrees with flak vest and about 40lbs of gear. walking about 4 to 6 miles a day with no shade. I think I will beready for this especially since I will be home about 2 days before the festival !!! BBBBBBOONNNNNNNNAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRROOOOOOOOOOOOO
After a recent split myself, I started swimming agin this week. I am already sore and can't wait for it to go away. I am looking forward ot getting back in shape though. I hadn't thought about the benefit that will give me for Roo until now. Now I just have to work on getting some sun on this skin.
But, I suppose I should. I'm going to start using those rollerblades again. I'm thinking an hour, several times a week, should do nicely. A few crunches/situps in the evening, and we should be mostly ready for roo!
I love, love love love, that sore feeling from working out. The next day, when it aches to even fix a glass of water. That's when I know I did a good job The first couple of days back from a long hiatus are the worst/best.
And whoever suggested sexercise, you are super correct. It seems, as humans, if it involves some sort of "instant gratification" at the end, we'll go the extra mile (or however many miles it takes ) to reach that point. Which, in that particular situation, can result in many burn calories.
All this talk of healthy stuff makes me wanna go running. 'Cept I've got strep. Woot. :/
Best roo training: roofing in 85 degree heat. Brutal stuff.
i'll go on record saying i think ideas like this are the best method of training. the most challenging aspect of 'roo in my opinion is keeping your energy level up throughout the heat of the day, and the best form of 'training' you'll do is less about endurance training, but getting your body used to conserving its energy and keeping itself cool when the temperature rises.
as most people who've posted here said in the 'newbie mistakes' thread and others like it, the worst thing they did last year was overdo it during the day in the heat...i didn't hear anyone really complaining of muscle soreness from too much walking or dancing, just exhaustion from heat.
Maybe I'll throw myself to the dogs, but my back's not to the wall Maybe I'll lay some bricks for the man, but the days just aren't that long So if I settle back and chill will I see far enough to feel the angel's dream? I thought it was the Story of the World!
