I went to the Iroquois Steeplechase this weekend. You watch horse racing in 90 degree heat wearing frilly tight sundresses, hats with flowers, and high heeled killer sandals. That was all the traning I needed. I can not wait for braless tanks and flip flops!

^^^ I hear ya - me neither My 'roo training consisted of a whole afternoon in 90 degree weather - trimming trees, cutting lthe limbs into 3 foot lengths and bagging pine straw.

I lost a little over 50 pounds in like 6 months. I still have another 50 to go, but id like to lose about 10 more or so by roo, of course anything more then that is welcome.
I am stepping up the outdoor regimen to get used to the long hours in the heat and on my feet...

Haha, I was there as well. After getting completely exhausted by the end of the day, it only reiterated how much I need to remember to pace myself at 'roo -

I thought I was the only one who does Bonnaroo Training... Ive been every year xcept the first, and I quickly realized being a lazy man year round, that a month or so before bonnaroo I need to get myself into shape...
Plus this year my little sister is coming with me, and she hates to walk... so to prepare her, a few times a week now we have been playing disc golf, and going for tremendously long walks along the canal, all the while sipping on brews or wine.
I havent felt that soreness yet though, so maybe I should bump it up a notch...

Saturday, because my regular yoga class doesn't meet, I went to a Bikram Yoga class. 90 minutes of strenuous yoga in 95 degree heat and lots of sweaty young women with very few clothes. What better way to train?
have to post in this thread because it has motivated me to try and get back in shape
training for roo is such a good idea, all that walking is gonna kick my ass. so I wanted to at least build up some endurance.
i've been stationary biking for about an hour everyday (a half an hour when i started 2 weeks ago), i stopped drinking soda and i've really been trying to control my urges to eat whatever i am in the mood for (cheeseburgers, subs and fries)... and so far i've lost about 15 pounds.
it's awesome, i feel way better and my ass is starting to shrink.. i really hope i can keep it up. lord knows with my hobbies its tough listening to your brain over your stomach.
oh and on the hangover remedies.. I used to work with a fall down drunk at a Pizza Parlor.. I came in still half drunk from a night of tequila and jagermeister... I was having a tough time to say the least... he noticed and went off on this rant about how alcohol depletes potassium. Told me V8 is the best if you can hold it down (I couldn't).. But I could hold down the bananas and Vitamin Water has the most out of the other drinks at 7-11. Potassium, my hobby, ibuprofen and a chzbuger with nothin on it. I usually stop complaining with a healthy dosage of each.

My hangovers consist of me having a hard time keeping anything down (people have different hangovers) but I have found that bananas are never a problem. I usually follow that with a candy cane. I know it sounds wierd but I liken it to an IV drip of sugar which is easy on the stomach. Works for me.
I will be training this week by helping my sister get her huge country plantation home all spring cleaned up for her high school class reunion she is hosting on Saturday. Scrubbing floors, washing woodwork, and getting the spiderwebs off the 14 ft ceilings! But most importantly, setting up my EZ up tent out in the back yard for the outdoor food. That way, I will get it all checked out for Bonnaroooooooooooo!
I love, love love love, that sore feeling from working out. The next day, when it aches to even fix a glass of water. That's when I know I did a good job The first couple of days back from a long hiatus are the worst/best.
I can't agree with this more.
I have been working out for years, but only just got back into a fairly strict workout regimine a few months ago. I do probably a hour of weights followed by a few miles on the eliptical/treadmill/arc trainer. I isolate my workout to be chest, back, bi's, shoulders, and tri's - one muscle group each weekday of the week. i don't really do legs (bad knee from snowboarding) but do ramp up the resistance on the cardio. I need to start working out on the weekend, but I am doing a bunch of yardwork, so that might have me covered...
I'm currently down about 8 lbs and hope to lose another 10 by 'roo. Sort of ambitious, but I would rather not carry that around if I can help it.
Since it's really all diet, I stopped eating all the office junkfood and going out for lunch. I eat Kashi meals now. Also, no real desserts, no high fructose corn syrup, no/limited processed carbs. And I try not to eat after 9 pm.
I am doing one hour of yoga every morning until roo... and I think I will start walking, also.
I cant do jogging or running, cause I have a very tiny bladder, and I always have to pee in the middle of my run. No good. If I walk, its not as bad, and... I can stop somewhere to pee, haha.

this thread is awesome! i, too, do training .. i'm actually doing a 10-day detox to help cleanse the system as well as some yoga. i was planning on running, but just got a tattoo on my foot...no socks or shoes! hope everyone else's training is going well!

This is the one I have been researching for the last month, but the intense version with the laxative teas and salt water rinse which is the part that really turned me off. Are you including these or just doing the lemonade?

I love this thread and am glad to know I am not the only one training. It is funny how my training started though. My friend and I were at the Keller Williams show in Early May here in Cincy and he looked at me and said that we only had a little over a month before the Roo. For some reason it all clicked then because I was the heaviest I have ever been at 220lbs at the time. I started the next day on a low carb, but with fruit diet and began working out again. Thus far I have dropped 10 lbs and feel great. Between now and the Roo I hope I lose at least 5-8 more.
Karma to all if I could give it for knowing that I am not the only one training for the roo.
I am also drinking a ton of water a day which I highly reccomend. A good rule of thumb is to drink half your body weight in ounces a day. So for me I drink about 100 ounces of water a day.
I am also doing more outside in the heat and working on a good base tan so that I don't fry (in the literal sense, not the mental sense) in that TN heat!!!
On that note, it is my lunch break and I am off to the gym. Peace ya all!
