Back on 3x a week HIIT...ouch. Just ordered a new scale too. Ours has started fluctuating up to 10 lbs which is giving me grey hair! Who knows what I even really weigh at this point, not sure I wanna know either!!
My wife and I just started Insanity in preparation for Roo. On Day 3 now. My hair follicles are pretty much sore at this point.
I jus started yesterday in preparation for Roo as well. I've done it before but stopped for a while. I forgot how legit insane this is. My body hates me.

I'm gonna post here so I can keep motivated to get healthier before roo. I just got my ticket yesterday, and I'm getting psyched///my goal is at least 15 lbs off and more muscle.
Last year I dropped just over 30 lbs in a 2 month span preparing for Bonnaroo (253lbs down to 221lbs). I managed to keep it up all summer, but my animalistic instincts kicked it (that's what I'll call it) and built up a bit of a winter layer. Hey, it gets really cold up here!
The energy and endurance I had last year was exponential compared to the year before where I did nothing to prepare. Of course, last year was not nearly as hot.
I'm weighing on at 6'2, 255lbs. I'll be happy to get rid of the beer gut a bit and get under 230, at the very least.
My sig. other is off at a major job interview right now and it's making me so flipping nervous and anxious. I'm really fighting the urge to eat a lot of crap food, which has been my coping mechanism for most of my life. This is so hard arrrrgh. Special K has never tasted so bland.

I don't know if anyone has posted this site in here, but it is an amazing free resource for overall health. www.mobilitywod.com/ Going to the beginning and doing one wod a day (obviously) I guarentee you will feel an improvement and see one in your flexibility and mobility. Mostly just need a lacrosse ball and a buddy, or usually nothing at all. Best 10 minute a day work you can do imo.
Anybody heard of Dietbet? It's a site where everyone bets money and the pool is divided after 4 weeks among the "winners" that lose 4% of their weight. It might be cool to start an Inforoo Dbet
X-rays were normal so that's good news. Which leaves us with "it's probably muscular" rest, heat and elevation. It's getting better but beats the hell out of me what I could have done. I've been eating like a slob since I took a diet break gotta get back on track.
I've been doing boxing workouts for about six months now, including sparring. Holy crap. If you want to lean out and add muscle and build up your CV endurance, this is the way to do it.

I really wanted to do this, but I got hesitant to try something that was impact based when I have a full running season coming up. What's it like? Have you had any problems with injuries minor or major? Do you go to a gym that specializes or what?
I have a good friend who was a national champion college wrestler and has boxed and done some MMA fighting. He lives about a half-mile away and has his basement set up as a boxing gym, so I've been working out with him and a few other people at his place about four nights a week. We do 12-14 rounds of three-minute high-intensity interval training and then either box, wrestle, or do some basic jujitsu.
I have had some injuries, but they haven't been from impact and none of them have kept me away from my cardio. Minor muscle strains and some bruising (from wrestling) and a little elbow tendonitis. The most painful was a strained hamstring, but it only took a weekend to heal. I've been a runner my whole life -- done a couple of marathons -- and I've been hurt way worse running than I have in these workouts.
The punching and getting punched isn't as big a deal as it might sound, in case that's a concern. We're wearing 16-ounce boxing gloves for sparring. Wrap a brick in a pillow and bop yourself in the cheekbone with it…that's pretty much what it feels like.
some one read me something of off facebook that said "unless you fell off of the treadmill, we don't want to hear about your workout!"
while very funny its not true. keep the stories coming. I had a buddy who would pat me on my belly every day at work and say whats this. i woke up one day at 211 now im back down to my fighting weight of 170. Just lifting now to get into better shape not to lose weight.
Stick with it everyone and lets make it a sexy roo!
I've been lurking this thread, and I'm inspired by the progress folks are making.
Late last week I started using MFP. My username is jfurai; look me up!
It's been a while since I've updated, but for the last month+ I've been back into the diet/exercise routine. I'm down to 220lbs and my goal is to get as close to 200 as possible before Bonnaroo.
Tracking what I eat the last few days has shown me that I'm not taking in enough calories. I guess that's a good problem to have, but I need to integrate more good snacks throughout the day so my body doesn't go into panic mode, burning muscle and retaining fat. I guess this is my endorsement of MFP. Wish I'd started logging sooner, but at least I started, right?
keep it up bro. Just eat a little bit all day long to keep up your metabolism. I like green tea to keep the metabolism up. as well as spicy (Salsa, Pico) foods if you can handle it. dont forget to eat breakfast. you can do this.
you insanity people are too hardcore for me. I am jealous! keep it up! I doubt i could make it to minute 3.
I have felt this way and still do! The workout is really tough but I give it my all! I have not lost anymore weught, but im getting more toned and loving the new outlook its giving me. 4 and a half weeks left. Ill post my before and afters when im done.

right on you go. Keep it up its about how you feel anyway.
I am going to Roo 30 lbs lighter than I did last year. I started my journey memorial day last year and lost 15 before I got to the farm. unfortunatley I had a few setbacks but I am over those now and doing Les Mills Body pump once a week, my own weight lifting weekly and also an hour of cardio weekly. Diet wise, I am working to stay under 1900 calories daily while loading up on protein. Whey protein shakes, nature valley protein bars and a sensible dinner are my foods so far. using MFP to keep track of exercise and caloric intake. I can see HUGE physical differences in my body. lifting more and more weight each session. more and more room in my waist and shirts, and great definition in my muscle tone. just have about 10-15 more lbs to go of fat (mostly in my tummy). ill have to buy new shorts for roo since mine fall off.
this year, I will be BUFF and Super Sexy for roo. Ladies, lookout.
BTW, its not all about running. the more muscle you have the more fat you burn. also putting your heart rate in the proper range is where you really burn the fat. 115-135 or so. keep it in that range for 45 mins and you are really burning off the calories. getting it above that does burn calories but not the fat like the lower ranges do.
Love the encouraging attitudes in this thread and some great tips!!
This last summer was my first time ever entering a gym or doing workouts of any kind. I am fairly heavily involved in the poker culture and entered a health contest a fairly successful pro was hosting. Had to make videos every month and post updates daily. For first timers like myself I would have just a few tips that can maybe help other people.. I am no athlete or guru, just observations from a regular guy.
1) Number one tip by far- Do not be timid about telling people NO. "No i can't go to the bar tonight. No I don't want anything form McDonalds. No I don't want a soda. No No No No No." (I love Steve Jobs.. Extra video at the end from his younger years about saying no) 2) Getting a real strong start is key as you begin building momentum where you don't want to go backwards on the work you have put in. 3) Eventually, at least I did, experience a slip. If that happens DO NOT let that stop your landslide of motivation. Just realize it is the long haul your in it for. 4) Track your intake.. Seriously even if you are not going to get into breaking down the ratios of carbs/protiens/fats it at least holds you more accountable. You don't want to enter "cheeseburger 850 calories" into your plan. I use www.mynetdiary.com/ . They have apps and stuff etc or just do it online. 5) The beginning is the hardest.
I hesitated on putting my fat arse up here but why not. Maybe it will inspire somebody to go a little harder. These are all just my own various photos and stuff. Poker related obviously because of the competition it was for. During the 85 day competition this is the first video I made after 30 days and the final video at the end. We have 97 days till Roo. That is so much time for everyone in here to succeed at their goals! In these videos I went from 202lbs to 185lbs.
Way to go nothing to lose! I like the just say no idea! I prefer to have the part of me that wants change to tell the part of me that wants to be lazy "FU," sometimes I call that lazy me a biznich. That usually does the trick. Shame is a heck of a motivator.
the best part about getting healthy losing weight working out is that no one can do it for you, it's all you. No one do you a favor and make it happen. It's not who you know, it's not how long you've been somewhere. It's not about social standing or how much money you have. It's you doing something for you and the people you love and who love you. And that's beautiful!

I really really need to get back on track, but renovating a house, moving, plus full time job is not conducive to eating well and exercising..... Plus I have been drinking more than usual due to extreme stress....... At this point I need to lose 15 lbs before the end of May for my trip to Italy and of course for Bonnaroo right after. I am now 140lbs which is the heaviest I've ever been. I know that does not sound overweight to some, but I have a small frame and should be around 125lbs. Plus none of my clothes fit, which is unacceptable!
Once we are in our new house next week, I plan to cook more with our new gas stove, and not eat out so much and get on that elliptical at least 3 times a week for 45 minutes. I NEED to do this and must push myself, but I know that projects around the house are going to side-track me, I will get tired and not work out It's so hard to get motivated when there is so much going on.

Take a deep breath! Ok. Its going to be alright, you'll be in the new house next week. Just eating right will do wonders. Try to exercise when you can. I know scheduling can be tough, just do what you can when you can. Try drinking vodka and diet tonic w lime. I lost weight drinking them and they are yummy. Don't forget breakfast! Look out in Italy. It would be hard for me to stay motivated in Italy. Good luck I know you can do this. See you at the roo!
