The point of the sweaty shirt study, as I recall, was that women were most attracted to the smells from guys who were genetically different in terms of some immune function (but not drastically different). The theory was that, by doing this, the women were subconsciously choosing mates with whom they'd have the healthiest kids.
I have read about this in a book where they studied animals and they found the same choosing of mates by the different immunities and also they could tell which parasites the other had. It also went into this whole section about how parasites are so crafty making their host look more attractive so they can pass on to other animals. I wish I could remember the book, something about ladybugs and sex it seems like .
My basic rules to staying in shape are run a couple miles a couple times a week, work out a couple times a week, and don't eat anything fried, cream-based, or anything with mayonnaise on it. Works pretty well for me.
Phase 2 day 1 check! So pumped i got through it, i will admit my reps were pretty low mainly because my elbow still feels iffy, but i can tell i'll be sore tomorrow which weirdly, i'm excited about
I've dropped 70 lbs in the past 14 months, most in the first 6, then summer and beer...now going down some more....it's all calories in vs. calories out.....you have to expend more than you take in.
Simple.
The more you work out, the more you can eat.....I start with 500 cals/day....then if I want to eat more, I work out more....as bike nights start, beer is tempting....I'll just not eat if I'm going to drink....I do really good vitamins and omega 3 fish oil tablets daily, so I have the nutrients needed, carrying extra weight.....that's why the body stores it, in the event you can't kill a wooly mammoth today....
Welcome back Bonz, but I do not find it strange that your presence being requested in the Orgy thread and then you showing up, like it was the quacking Bonzai Bat Signal.
I've heard of that before. Just remember that your body stops producing enzymes to break down food when you are on that diet for a long duration, which can cause issues when you increase your cal intake. Also, you burn proteins while you are on it in addition to stored fat. Your body can convert fat to protein as needed, but there is still a net loss of muscle mass.
Yeah, 500 cals a day seems suuuuuuper low. But good for you rvicke taking your vitamins!
I found my other shoe yesterday, so I was able to effectively work out this morning. Core workout. I didnt sweat a lot, and it didnt hurt alot = tomorrow I will be unable to move.

I skipped the gym this morning and will go tonight so that I don't have a time constraint. Will do my cardio and then hit the weight machines and such for the first time.

I am hoping to loose 20 pounds by Bonnaroo this year. I am like 190 now, and 30 of it is my beer belly.
You and i weighed have the same weight goal. Last time i checked i'm more than a quarter way there. My weight increase was due to lack of moving due to broken bones+drinking
Hit 237 on the scale today! 23 lbs down, 12 to go with 10 weeks left. I've kind of leveled off recently as the fat come off and muscle is added quickly. About to enter my rest week, then it is phase 2

Wait for phase 2. It's pretty sweet, a lot more moves to build muscle and lose fat. I just started Phase 2 last night and totally forgot how different some of the moves are. I can't lift my arms over my head currently

Nice! I can tell that my muscles are getting use to the first rotation at this point. Looking forward to dead arms and lead legs again.

Well you do the same leg routine unfortunately, the only real differences are two video's you have a different workout for Chest, shoulders, tri's and then Back and Biceps. The rest week is pretty tough too, Core Synergistics..... that is all
You guys, if I could lose just that 2 lb a week, i'd be in heaven Im on track too, so hoping to keep it up!
2lbs a week WOW thats great. Hope you make your goal!!! I am down 8lbs in 6 weeks I need to add cardio to the plan so I can loose more.
Thanks Mushroom! 8 lbs in 6 weeks is great too!!! I only recently started losing at that rate. Took me about 4 months of regular bootcamp to kick my body into gear, and then another 2 months of adding additional cardio to the bootcamp to really "LOSE".
I recommend reading that article chico posted on pg2. When you're doing your cardio, maybe take frequent 1 and 2 minute breaks to get multiple "recovery times" in - it's been working for me!!! We're all different, but give it a whirl.

Outside last week (and probably this week), I have been losing at a great rate. These are my stats since I started: -8.0, +.2 (Moogfest), -3.2, -2.2, -1.8, -.8, -1.0, -2.4, -2.6, -.6, -2.2, -1.0, -1.2, -.2, -2.4, -1.4, +.8
This week I ate badly and drank way too often, but **hopefully** the addition of the gym will balance it out somewhat. I find out tomorrow.

Just a reminder too as you guys get further into P90X and what not...musicle weighs more then fat. Eventually the scale will stop moving. Doesnt mean that you arent losing fat but that your building muscle. Thats why after the first couple months the scale is no longer a good indicator but more how your clothes fit.
Mayo - whats the raspberry ketone? (I suppose I can just google it)

I absolutely just added that up! 31 lbs!!!! WAY TO GO BONZ!

Its a compound they extract from about 9 lbs of raspberries and put into pill form. It's supposed to "prevent elevations of high-fat-diet-induced reactions in body weight". Apparently ketones have been around for a long time, and been proven in medical studies to work with diet modifications and exercise to help maintain healthy weight. But the RASPBERRY ketones have just recently gained popularity bc the almighty Dr. Oz has endorsed them... I just wondered if anyone else has seen/heard of ketones, or rasp ketones being used by anyone they know.

hmmm interesting...I did some research on it..it appears to just be a more natural thermogenic. Maybe when I cycle off the thermogenic Im on now Ill start a cycle with these.
What vitamins/supplements do you guys take if any?
Heres what I take everyday:
2 womens ultra mega (why they must use ultra and mega together IDK) energy/metabolism formula vitamins - just switched from the original womens ultra mega, I havent noticed a real difference but its only been 3 days.
900 mg of fish oil and 100 mg of CO Q-10
1000 mg of cranberry
2 "be-balanced" calcium supplements (the pills would tear my stomach up but these chews are actually really good)
Ending a cycle on Lipo-6 will cycle off 2 weeks and try out these raspberry ketones.
My mother passed away almost a year ago, I have gained so much weight since then and with knowing the toll that Roo can take on the body I have just begun a "weight Loss" mission... I hope in the months to come before time to hit the farm I can loose some of the 70 lbs I have gained... I am hoping this Thread can give me some inspiration...
I'm sorry about your mom but glad you're here. I have a lot to lose too and started by giving myself mini goals. Set your first goal at something like 11 pounds (1 pound per week) by Roo. It's realistic and attainable. Since you have more that 20 pounds to lose you're likely to bust through that goal without a whole lot of effort. Good luck and keep us updated on how you're doing!
Lower body/20 minute elliptical on Wednesday 1.5 mile hike on Tuesday 10 minute kettlebell workout Monday
If that Mafia game hadn't sent my night eating into a frenzy this week, I might have actually had a good week!!! Alas, 330am Lays......so crunchy, so delicious.
We're all a mess of paradoxes. Believing in things we know can't be true. We walk around carrying feelings too complicated and contradictory to express. But when it all becomes too big, and words aren't enough to help get it all out, there's always music.
