Y'ALL!!! im not here to brag! But if you think I'm killing it, then Im glad I can motivate some of you to try and keep up! ;D We did the dreaded boxes today too btw. I wanted. to. die. But I finished them.
Chicken and Viking - you guys are braver than I for posting your weights here. That's owning it for realz. Respect. Keep it up - get in that habit - go go go. Viking, your BRAIN has got to shut up! Tell it that your midsection wants to DO something, and then go do it.
Bonzai - Im so excited for you to join the gym!!! And you're right, location location location. No joke, that's probably half the reason I've been bootcamping so long - bc it's literally 3 min from my job. My advice for the gym??? Dont let the skinny people get you down!!! They get on the treadmill for 30 minutes lookin' all awesome with thier nice bums and hardly sweat... meanwhile I'm red as a lobster and appear to have just come in from a rainshower... Doesn't matter. It's what's happening on the INSIDE of your body that counts. And that you are THERE. BEING PRESENT is the most important part of the gym, or working out in your living room, or getting to bootcamp in the park. GET THERE, and the rest just happens.
Bison - BDiddy is right. you can absolutely eat okay at fast food places. No lie - last week i got a Wendy's spicy chicken (bc i NEEDED it) and I literally took the entire bun off... and held the tomato/lettuce/chicken in my bare hands and ate it without the bread and mayo. To my surprise - "Wendy's Spicy Chicken with no mayo and no bun" is actually listed in MyFitnessPal too! Score! Just think with reasoning - shoot for grilled, take the bun off, no condiments, more veggies - and you can eat fast food without guilt.
Holls - i <3 you. and your crystal light booze drinks. that is all.
Y'all, im so proud of everyone! This thread is really rockin it out this year.

***edit: 1,000TH POST ;D ;D ;D***
Haha, this is one reason I hate working out. My whole face turns bright red and everyone asks me "ARE YOU OKAY!?" I suppose I look like I'm going to pass out. Congrats on your 1,000th post and also for kicking your own ass!

Not particularly for bonnaroo, but for the last 2 months my 2 friends and I have been going to the gym at 6:30 AM on Mondays and Wednesdays before our 9 AM classes. i always thought i would hate going that early, but now it makes the most sense to me, since i don't really have an excuse not to go that early, it's not like i have anything else going on (besides sleeping ) but it's so refreshing to use the rowing machine, the elliptical, and play basketball before the gym gets really crowded and have it all done before most people at school are even up
Workout number one: Check! Just the elliptical for 45 minutes (4.5 miles on a medium resistance), but considering it was the first time that I stepped foot into a gym, I am proud!
Welcome back Bonz, but I do not find it strange that your presence being requested in the Orgy thread and then you showing up, like it was the quacking Bonzai Bat Signal.

when i first did an elliptical (28 minutes) i was dying! haha but 45 minutes is awesome, and the first time is definitely the hardest

Congrats Bonzai on joining the gym and already conquering the elliptical! I'm with mayo on that. I would DIE trying to work that hard on it. You're going to own your workouts.
Abra! Good job on kicking the sugar habit. That's one of the many changes I've made in the last couple of months. I was eating WAY too much sugar, now most of the sugar I eat comes from fruits and veggies. The first week was tough, but after that it gets so much easier. You can do it!
bdiddy, you can still eat fast food and stick to a plan. You can find the nutritional info for fast food and chain restaurants online. Check out the ones you think you may visit on your trip and make yourself a "cheat sheet" of items you can order that won't blow your calories for the day. If you do order a salad, watch for the extras that can make it a bomb (i.e. meats, cheese, dressing). Most of all enjoy your trip and have fun!
Oh holls, that Crystal Light Pure is awesome! If you hate drinking plain water give this stuff a try. And yes, it does go great with vodka or any other clear liquor. This stuff is amazing with light rum.
All you guys in this thread with your working out and being all honest and shiz with your weight... Way to go! Keep up the great work fellas!
Tomorrow is my off day. No logging my food or counting calories. I've already learned that I can't eat too poorly on my off day or I feel like shit, so even though I'm not counting I'm not taking advantage. I'm also finally going hiking for a bit! I didn't know that my nephew's wife has been wanting to check out the trails around here so I'm taking her out tomorrow on one or two shorter ones.
Monday Morning Check-In my fellow get-fit-for-Roo peeps!
So, Saturday was the "off" day for me. Morning routine weigh-in was SPECTACULAR though, so I was ready to party. St. Pats is a favorite holiday of mine, so I celebrated at the park, in the lovely sun and fanTAStic ATL weather with several sugar laden alcoholic beverages, and some french fries (my nemesis...my delightful, crunchy nemesis). Got some sun on my skin, and booze in my belly, followed by a really great show at the Tabernacle with some Andrew Bird and some more boozin'. I did the MFP on Saturday and it was dire. BUT - no guilt!!! I get a day off, right?!
Sunday was back on the wagon, lots of water, lots of protein. Did a mild walk around the block.
This morning, REALLY back on the wagon. Blitz this morning. Sweat was coming off the backs of my hands again (seriously, that baffles me). Oatmeal, coffee, Emergen-C, water. Im feelin good! Going to see a show tonight, but really motivated to stay "good", so Im gonna lay off the booze.
How was everyone's weekend??? And how is everyone getting back into the swing of it today???
Music Midtown'01'02'04'05'11-'13::Ultra'02'03::Roo'07-'16::ACL'10::AF/TheNational'11::Sasquatch'11::Voodoo'11'16::Counterpoint'12'14::Moogfest'12::TommorowWorld'13'14::MOEMS'13::Coachella'14'15::ShakyKnees'13-'17::MFGLASTONBURY2017
Mayo, it's awesome to see that you had an amazing holiday and then was able to jump right back on the wagon!
My weekend wasn't nearly as bad as the one before, but certainly wasn't ideal. Between all day drinking for St Pattys Day and work/ dinner at the rents/ a glass of wine for a friends birthday on Sunday, I didn't make it back to the gym. Originally, I was going to pick up my game this morning, but then I realized I had work to do that wasn't completed this weekend, so I came into the office early instead. **Hopefully** this was my last bit of overtime work and starting tomorrow (or definitely Wednesday), my time will be myyyy time. Mornings will be free for the gym, lunch times free for errands... I'm pretty excited for it all!
Welcome back Bonz, but I do not find it strange that your presence being requested in the Orgy thread and then you showing up, like it was the quacking Bonzai Bat Signal.
Great job mayo sticking to it, when i'm sure after st patty's you could've just curled up and done nothing due to copious amounts of alcohol the night before. And glad you are excited to get back in to your routine Bonzai. I think my body is now fully adjusted to my routine.
The weekend like everyone on this board i'm sure was dedicated to a lot of drinking. Though i did do pretty well sticking to p90. Worked out satuday before commencing drinking festivities. And surprisingly wasn't too bad sunday and got to workout again. Eating wise i did alright sunday, but saturday i kinda went all out on some irish car bombs and guiness so wasn't my best day.
Mayo i'm sure the weather in ATL is wayyy nicer than jersey. But it has been gorgeous here too. And i finally got to start doing some yard work again! Had been avoiding it mostly because of my elbow. But i was surprised at how much i missed doing stuff outside, i feel like if you add music to any activity that i am doing i won't complain about it at all.
^^Thanks Bonzai!!!!! And you know what, good for you for making this weekend "better" than last. every little bit helps. And YAY for finishing overtime work!!! You're so close to Wednesday. ;D
RE: Operation-BackonWagon: when I see the numbers on the scale starting to match up with the inches lost, it's like, motivation-crack. I feel like im finally getting over this "hump" where Im killing myself, and im losing inches, but my clothes still dont feel (much) different, and Im not seeing super-drop on the scale.... So saturday morning when I weighed in, i was like - WHAT?! HOOOLY SCHNIKES!!! YES!!! and now i want to kill myself even more so I keep seeing the numbers go down. I think that in the 11.5 weeks left till roo, Im gonna actually meet my goal.
For anyone whos working out and just getting started, and not seeing "results" like weight loss - KEEP IT UP. Took me months to really SEE differences. I FELT different after a couple weeks, but it's hard when you FEEL great, and still have yet to LOOK great. Do it Do it Do it. Keep moving.
Music Midtown'01'02'04'05'11-'13::Ultra'02'03::Roo'07-'16::ACL'10::AF/TheNational'11::Sasquatch'11::Voodoo'11'16::Counterpoint'12'14::Moogfest'12::TommorowWorld'13'14::MOEMS'13::Coachella'14'15::ShakyKnees'13-'17::MFGLASTONBURY2017
I fully bombed out this weekend. From Friday night till late saturday, I was a drunken mess. I mean, literally the whole time. You would be amazed the amount of alcohol an Irish Catholic 245lb person can consume in that period of time. Not to mention Corned Beef, rutebaga, cabbage and rye bread every meal all day long while spending the day with my extended family.
Dispite all that, I think I posted that I lost weight by my Sunday weight in. Yeah...I think I was just dehydrated because I popped up 2 pounds today. It could also have been the full day of grilled food that did me in. Hot dogs, polish sausage, cheeseburgers, pasta salad, you get the picture. PLus I missed workouts both days.
SO, nose to the grindstone this week and going on. Started with a light breakfast, no heavy snacking, more protein, less salt, etc.
^^^No way Viking. That sounds like a spectacular weekend. If you only popped up 2 lbs for the whole weekend???? You're still doing great. And like you said, you get back to it this week. No bigs - Off the wagon, On the wagon, Off the wagon, On.... it's life. Don't feel guilty!!! You had an amazing weekend, with your fam and eating amazing foods. Good times!
Music Midtown'01'02'04'05'11-'13::Ultra'02'03::Roo'07-'16::ACL'10::AF/TheNational'11::Sasquatch'11::Voodoo'11'16::Counterpoint'12'14::Moogfest'12::TommorowWorld'13'14::MOEMS'13::Coachella'14'15::ShakyKnees'13-'17::MFGLASTONBURY2017
Yeah Viking. Totally worth it. St Patricks Day is why my past two weekends have been less than ideal too, but know what? Totally worth it!!
My friend just posted this on FB. You can tell that she is a vegetarian (and usually vegan as well), and although I am all about the protein, I kinda like it!
Welcome back Bonz, but I do not find it strange that your presence being requested in the Orgy thread and then you showing up, like it was the quacking Bonzai Bat Signal.
Well the weekend was amazing. Just not a very healthy weekend. It seems that repairing muscles still burns calories, even if the calories come from alcohol!
So.... Is it wrong if I gave my dog 2 pieces of swiss cheese so that I didn't eat them? I mean she really wanted them and seemed very happy to have them....
I have never heard of such a thing! I can't decide if it would be good because it would obviously be a great reason to exercise, or bad because I would be scared to exercise in public!
I've had a great day so far! Went to the gym this AM and when I got home, I got ready very quickly (usually I move slooowwwww) and had extra time to make my salad for lunch, put some clothes away.. And it's a BEAUTIFUL day. Ahhh. Life is good.
Despite the high cost and the sucky parking situation, I do think that this gym at a whopping 4 blocks away, was the right choice!
Welcome back Bonz, but I do not find it strange that your presence being requested in the Orgy thread and then you showing up, like it was the quacking Bonzai Bat Signal.
I've got my gym bag in my car waiting for me to get off of work this afternoon. Its a must.
I've been doing REALLY well with the healthy eating and calorie counting part, but I've been slacking on the exercise more than I should. Its all about finding that routine again. I'll for a good jog or a hearty walk once or twice a week, but I need to focus on muscle definition. I'll be honest--I miss my "Guts n' Butts" classes.
For those of you who like to cook and are working through MFP or counting calories and whatnot, there's this FANtastic website I found via Pinterest called Skinnytaste.com. I've been LIVING off of this site. I adore it. This woman is a genius. Literal genius. She's mastered the ability to transform familiar comfort foods to healthy versions where you won’t miss the added fat or calories. And yes, this includes indulgent baked goods. Along with every recipe, she posts the WW points, the calorie count, fat content, etc per serving, so you can plop it right into MFP or some recipes have even been updated. Its a life and hunger saver for me
If this was a more common thing, or if it was a guarantee for all/most females.... I'd be at my goal weight, and I'd own a gym in my house. just sayin'.

This article is ridiculous. Lets see, the ab excercise she mentions is "the captain's chair", then mentions spinning, and rope climbing. All of those have something between a woman's legs. Not too hard to find the hole in this study. Thats why it is posted in a non-peer reviewed journal without citing any other sources or discussing method.
There have been a lot of real studies that show excercise increases hormone levels associated with sex. In fact, even though you stink, studies have found that due to the hormones you release while excercising, you actually appear more attractive to the opposite sex right after your workout until bacteria on your body start making you smell more like decay.
Pheromones, baby. Rawr! Someone brought up a sweaty tshirt party concept recently. Possibly in chat and not on the board Who was it? CK? JHo? Taco? Sarah? LLL? If they aren't a poster in this thread, please cameo and explain to these good folks!

We use to do something like this when I played rugby with the girls team. Basically, we would have a party immediatly following practice. I do remember a lot of schnanigans, but that could also have been due to the kegs or personalities involved.
All you need for a Roo sweaty party is to get together at the end of a day!
Ha. It something like this (I might screw up a detail or two):
It's a mixer party for singles. All the girls bring in tshirts that they have slept in a few nights (but have not sprayed perfume or anything on) and they get thrown in a bag. The guys sniff them all and if one smells particularly good to them, they get set up with the girl. It tries to match people on a chemical level. I think it doesn't sound too appealing!

Yeah not too appealing at all. Also, since this is the get fit thread, remember guys will look st the shirt size too. Not really a blind test.
Didn't get out of work till 7:30 yesterday, and it was a yoga day (hour and a half vid) so i didn't get home till 8:30 and ended up not doing it because Game of Thrones was on and occupied my time...... Instead i ended up doing an ab routine and going to bed. I feel great and can't wait to start phase 2 finally. Tonight i'll complete yoga and tomorrow phase 2 begins!
Yeah don't think that sweaty shirt party would work based on size bias unfortunately. Sounds like a good idea though. But along the same idea i've always heard of Stop Light party for people who are single trying to mingle.

p90x Yoga video sucks. I spend half the time trying to keep from falling over, and the other half wishing for Tony to die.

hahaha i know exactly what you mean. The first time i went through it this was easily my worse workout. I'm pretty flexibile now and have actually gone to a few yoga classes so my balance has really improved doing it.
Tony is corny as hell, and sometimes i wish he would just shut up. It's really creepy some of the stuff he says too like i remember in one workout during the stretch he makes a reference to the movie Deliverence. It's just weird.
