I totally realize the BMI system of measurement is flawed, but my doctor telling me that I was within 2 pounds of being considered “morbidly obese” was one of the things that really got me thinking about getting healthier. As of my weigh-in this morning, I have crossed over from “obese” to “overweight.” Who knew I could be so happy to be overweight?! 😝
I am trying a new challenge this year that I will fail about 10% of the way through like very other challenge I've done in the last 2-3 years. But I think this is kinda funny.
I want to run more miles than the amount of drinks I drink in 2022.
I drink an absolute fuckload which is really the most difficult part of this challenge. If I were to keep drinking the amount I usually do... maybe 25-35 drinks a week (was around 40 when single), then there would be no way for me to keep pace with the running. In a normal week, I will need to average about 10 miles / 10 drinks. There will be many outlier weeks in either direction, but I want to see if this is possible. I was 6'1, 220 on monday. In my prime, I was around 185. But even then I always felt like I could bulk up a little if I wanted to look my absolute best. I'd like to be 190 - 195 this time next year. 9 miles and 0 drinks so far. Weekend incoming here goes nothing!

14 Miles and 17 Drinks. Don't love being behind going into a weekend, so I'm hoping I can get 6 miles in today and tomorrow. I am liking the formula for this challenge so far. It's tough that 8 miles involves so much effort spread across 3 days and 8 drinks is just 3 hours at Top Golf on a Saturday.
i'm postjack on there too if anyone else wants to follow.
I'm stl_allison on Peloton!
Hopefully posting this gets my ass motivated to get back on the bike... I haven't rode consistently in over two weeks.
I’m Rockthefaces on Peloton. I’ve been off since the baby was born, but I’m looking to get back into it once we get some equilibrium going in terms of sleep routine.

If you're struggling with motivation, my Wife joined the Power Zone Pack and she feels a sense of community and belonging that helps her to keep on it. I think there's a private facebook group as well. Something to think of, I don't think it costs much at all.
finally gave in and bought a nice treadmill after two years of sitting inside and completely neglecting myself. got a decent pair of shoes too so i can't use my old sneakers as an excuse. hoping this helps to pull me out of the hole i've been living in and gets me feeling like i live in this body again.

hopped onto the peloton for a 20 minute Leanne Hainsby Tabata ride yesterday. as soon as i'm in i get absolutely flooded with high fives. i often get a few but it was like everybody in that session high fived me.
get to the end and realize it was my century ride. i didn't even realize it! was a genuinely emotional moment. and now i'm bonded to Leanne forever if I wasn't already.
TV and peloton has made me realize i really love it when british tell me i'm doing a good job and/or it's going to be OK.

What is a century ride? 100 miles? Regardless, congrats I am pretty sure!

On the road, a century is 100 miles. I’ve done two to raise money for charity. It’s a bitch.
In Peloton, I would imagine it’s 100 miles or 100 rides. Congratulations 3post1jack1
See what I get working out by myself (with Adrienne)? Not a free fucking tshirt. I have done 2 years (next month officially) of yoga, only missing 5 days total. Where's my fucking tshirt and congrats?

Does Adrienne know?
I don't think a youtube star tracks individual yogis following her. She has millions of viewers. I mean, my youtube history knows.

I didn’t know this thread existed! Omg!
I’ve been asking around with my friends, but if anyone is (or knows of) a virtual personal trainer that’s affordable, please let me know! My hours suck for gym, and I’d love to work out on zoom like I did the beginning of the pandemic.

Welcome to the thread! I personally don't know any zoom trainers, but I love me some Yoga with Adriena. FitOn is a great workout app, but if you don't subscribe you can't cast it to your TV. I use my tablet and/or laptop without any issues when I want cardio or strength training and not yoga. Hope you find what you are looking for and look forward to your progress!!

She’s my go-to yoga person too!! But it’s not getting me sweaty.

Yeah when I need to get sweaty I turn to my Karin Dimitrovova handstand training or to FitOn programs OR (the most likely) I go roller skate. LOL

The peloton app has yoga. I've only done one yoga class and it was nice but don't take my opinion, I'm bad at yoga.
But the app is slick. There is an Android tv app so I assume there is an apple equivalent so you can do it right on the tv.

So, like many others, I fell pray to the COVID 19+. I lost about half of what I would like to this fall. Then got COVID again and gained back 5 of what I had lost and have stalled since. I decided I really need some accountability and hired a personal trainer and a nutrition coach because I am no longer keeping myself in line. Figure if I put my $$$ where my mouth is, I will surely get my ass back into gear. 13 years ago I was training to compete in fitness competitions and was super fit. What the fuck has happened to me?
At any rate. The nutrition coach and her husband are body building competitors. I am on week 4 and she has me eating about 500 more calories a day on a daily basis than I ever have in my entire life. She wants me to gain some to get my stress hormones in line-remind my body that we are not starving. Then she is going to drop it to strip fat off of the muscle I am building. This has been really hard for me because I am scale obsessed. I am working out so much more thanks to my trainer. After COVID II, my pulmonary efficiency was pretty fucked, and so was my general muscular endurance. I have recovered from that and am now back to doing 40 minute cardio sessions with ease, and I can feel and see my muscles getting firmer. So I am not getting "fatter" with this weight gain, and my clothes are looser. Today was the first day I hit all 4 macro requirements she has given me, and gained some weight! And I did some spinning and leg resistance exercises before my faux shift.
We're all a mess of paradoxes. Believing in things we know can't be true. We walk around carrying feelings too complicated and contradictory to express. But when it all becomes too big, and words aren't enough to help get it all out, there's always music.
