Good for you, Mayo! 2 lb/week goal is super ambitious, to begin with. Plus, you do more than just cardio, so you have that muscle weight being added!
As I mentioned in chat last night, I had a (planned) Taco Bell binge last night. But I ate reallyyy well during the day and nothing after dinner, so I don't think (hope?) it was really as bad as I thought. I have fallen off the wagon with going out too much for bad dinners and drinking too much. I need to find my zone again.
This morning, at the gym, I confused myself. I have been running 5K and then hitting some weights. Today, I saw my time going up... and up... and thought that I was just moving slower (I have been doing 10 minute mile normally). When it hit 40 minutes, I was REALLY confused and then realized that I was almost at 4 miles. Zoned out? Misread? Forgot how many miles 5K is? No idea. So I just rounded out the 45 minutes and skipped anything else. (I had gotten there a tad late anyways)

I've made it to the gym the last three days. Monday I went back in the evening to make up for not running and last night I had a pretty tough workout. Hit the gym this am to work with my trainer. Swear to god that man is trying to break me, but it wont work!
I'm off work the next two days while my dad visits and we go watch the Cubbies. Assuming I'll eat kind of like crap but I'll make it to the gym on Friday (I hope).
Great Job you three! Personally not sure why, but i'm never really comfortable at a Gym. But to hear all three of you consistently going to your gyms is impressive, mainly because i never did when i was a member of a gym.
That's great you did 4 miles, without even recognizing! Just more evidence that what you are doing is working because 4 miles seemed like nothing. 2lb a week is really ambitious, and like bonzai said, muscle weighs more than fat so your probably losing the gross and gaining the good. Chico that rough with the Trainer, but glad to hear you're not giving in. I kinda dont mind people yelling at me during my workouts it definitely helps motivation i think.
Ended up playing Slow Pitch Softball yesterday up at my school, which was fun! However it made me not get home till around 10 and since most of the p90 videos are an hour long it was a little too late for that. Ended up doing the ab routine. Softball was fun because i was just hitting groundballs and sprinting as fast as i could. I was in fairly good shape in soccer, but i feel like now i could easily outrun my high school self. The cool thing i discovered is my recovery time after sprinting around bases as fast as i could was drastically down. I caught my breath and was ready to go again immediately after, which is what i like.
Today/Tonight is back and biceps and i'm throwing in 40 mins of cardio. And i'm looking forward to it, strangely enough. keep it up!!

I've been reading this thread for motivation and it's (kind of) working.
I am a server at a very busy restaurant. I often work (hard) for 9+ hours, not sitting down for any of it except for when I finally get home. Often I use this as an excuse not to workout on my days off......my body is usually pretty exhausted.
But I'm going to keep reading this thread and y'all (esp Mayo! Well done girl) are inspiring me. I don't need to really lose much weight, but I definitely need to tone. Especially my triceps (helloooooo old lady arms).
I guess I just wanted to congratulate everyone on their hard work! And now off to the gym. Ugh
Now if you'll excuse me, I'm going to go on an overnight drunk, and in 10 days I'm going to set out to find the shark that ate my friend and destroy it. Anyone who wants to tag along is more than welcome.

Haha. Fries, bread, and soup are the only things we can get for free, technically. We throw out TONS of bread and a good amount of fries too. They go in the garbage when they aren't fresh enough. People also suck at cutting bread, so little nubby ends are left behind every two minutes as well and those also are thrown out. I work at a large, corporate restaurant. If you were around to slap my hand, I would certainly be a few pounds lighter!

I become a TOTAL CRUNCHY CARB MONSTER when PMS hits. Never fails. You can offer me chocolate & I'll pass, but put something crunchy in front of me? Game over. Chips, popcorn, crackers, fries - anything that has the salty flavor & the crunchy sound - oh yeah, it's kryptonite!
Fortunately, I can accurately predict a timeframe when those cravings typically occur. Then I just eat more fish, fresh veggies & fruit. An article I read recently explained WHY you crave certain things and identified the body's deficiency in relation to the cravings.
Adrenal imbalance also accounts for cravings. When I'm super stressed and/or so busy I don't have time to eat properly, I have trouble sleeping. This makes me crave the wrong stuff at the wrong time (like around midnight when the sleep aid kicks in!), which compounds the problem! Damn vicious cycle! Bonz - GOOD FOR YOU too lady!!! "Accidentally" doing extra in workout is a fantastic sign that your body is responding to your hard work - both mentally and physically. You arent constantly counting down the timer, or thinking "i could do just 3 more min out of this 5..." etc etc. So Yay!!! And while the humanitarian in me also says - all that wasted bread could be eaten... by me... - just say no! You can do it i know you can ;D
Chico - dude, i feel the same way about my trainer. He is intentionally adding boxes to our workouts bc he knows i hate them. This morning we did the bit where you have the band around your waist, it's attached to a pole, and you have to lean against the resistance and R, L, R, L up and down on the box. For a minute and a half. FAst as you can. ... that ASSSSSSShole.
Chicken - thanks!!! I hate the gym too. fortunately the trainer I see is in a gym, but it's only for people WITH trainers. So there's no like, 95 lb ho's wandering around doing 3 sets of 20 triceps on the 10 lb weight to irritate me. ;D You GO with your improved cardio! I dont do group sports. I throw like a girl. THIS. Potatos are my kryptonite in any form, and if they're kettle-cooked, and covered in salt? Meltdown of epic proportions. The chocolate covered potato chips from trader joes... they have a bit much chocolate for me, but have definitely inspired me to make my own with dark chocolate and less 'covering'.... then I think to myself - SELF, You can't make those bc then you will EAT them!!! I bet if you made a version of those with baked chips and lightly drizzled chocolate, it wouldn't be so horrible. Not to make all the time, of course, but for a cheat here or there... Put some chopped nuts on them too! If it were me, I would do it with pretzels! I love tortilla chips (Tostitos, Doritos, Sun Chips..) but potato chips.. mehhh. No need.

^^^ HA!!! im the exact opposite. potato, potato, potato. French fries are a weakness, but I've managed to cut them OUT. I probably have fries....once a month?! then there are chips. I dont even walk down the aisle at the store. I'll buy 2 bags, and i can take down a BAG in one sitting. Im like a horse on a feed bag with chips. But you're right - i bet i could make some drizzled ones on baked chips.... if i got a spectacular tupperware to keep them fresh, i could go for that.

I'm glad I'm not the only one trying to get in a big of shape for Roo. I'm trying to get back into running, but gosh if it isn't hot in TN already.
Same here. I've been running at night. Mainly because it is the only time in the day I have to work out. A plus to it is that it isn't nearly as hot out. The downside is you really have to watch out for cars because they aren't expecting you. Once I get rid of this beer belly though I'll have to start running in the day to get a tan going. I guess that will just be a part of my rooditioning. Hopefully, my body will be adjusted to running by then though.

After hooping classes I went and worked out at the gym with my instructor who is also a personal trainer and friend. She's in amazing shape and is pretty much training me 2x a week for free. I tried to do bench presses with just the 45lb bar. Lets say I got 10 down but the next ten she was basically lifting it up 1/2 way. Weak! Then she gets on and adds 50lbs to it and presses out 25. Grrr My goal is to have some kick ass arms by the end of the summer. I think I've started too late to make a big difference for Roo.
The weigh in this week is blah. I've gained 3 up from my lowest but that's about normal. I go up about 3lbs and then drop it back off, if I'm lucky I'll go below that. I think eating all that tasty food while camping might keep those 3lbs on.
I have really fallen off of the good eating bandwagon the past 2-3 weeks. At work and home, I am great. But I have been going out way too much. Somebody fix me!

I love that y'all are carb-loving-maniacs like me! Good god, I had one of the worst days, EVER yesterday and all I could keep telling everyone is that I deserved curly fries for it. I LOVE justifying bad days with guilty food. I’m typically pretty good about exercising self control with food, but I turned into a monster yesterday.
I went to pick up a salad for a co-worker at Taco Mac yesterday and while I was waiting at the to-go station, I told them I'd get the southwest wrap with a side of fries. Their fries are pretty magical. Salty with an occasional piece of sugar in it--thank you, seasoned salt! Though I could've eaten something worse, my shamefulness rests in that I ANNIHILATED the fries on the drive back to the office. Because.I.deserved.it. And it was only 2 miles away. I was licking the salt off of my fingers by the time my car was in park.
Oh well. Back onto the veggies and fruits today. I figure I’m allowed a bad-food day every once in a while.

Duh! Nobody deserves some happy social time more than you! ;D

this thread is awesome! totally motivating and is making me really want to go outside and run on this lovely day. i have been really slacking at working out the last month because school and work are so stressful (i'm a bartender, so while i am on my feet for 10 hours 3-4 times a week, i've been doing it so long that my body is just used to it and i don't lose any weight from it), the last thing i want to do is work out i used to be a total yoga whore but i stopped going and my body kind of hates me for it.
i'm going to vegas at the end of the month (bikini time! or at least a bathing suit, haha), plus i'm in two weddings this summer, and of course roo...i need to get toned! thanks for the motivation everyone, keep it up

I've been mentally trying to prepare myself to physically prepare myself for the summer, but the truth is that I eat way too much corn!!!! I imagine there are a few corn eaters among you all, does anyone have tips to get motivated/active/eat better while not cutting down on the corn intake? I'm a full time student and I work 30 hours a week, so when I get home I just wanna sit on my couch and eat corn til I pass out! HELP ME STOP THIS MADNESS!!!

I almost feel guilty posting this, since I plan to CHOW THE QUACK DOWN on my favorite sandwich that I only get once a year (it's soooo huge, the guilt lingers for 12 whole months!) from my favorite authentic New York Jewish deli this afternoon. Oy vey! There ain't NOTHIN' healthy 'bout a Reuben! But it's my day off, dammit! Plus, I'm going hiking tomorrow w/the lovely Popsicle Sarah, so it will DEFINITELY be burned off!

I managed to get to the gym after work yesterday instead of going to happy hour which was NOT easy! An hour on the elliptical, and then weights.. and then I even look a walk with a friend! Not bad! I'll be spending this weekend in NY which means lots of what New Yorkers do best- carbs! I can almost taste the bagels and pizza now.... <drooling> I'm hoping to get someone to do a run or something with me at least once!
