I've been mentally trying to prepare myself to physically prepare myself for the summer, but the truth is that I eat way too much corn!!!! I imagine there are a few corn eaters among you all, does anyone have tips to get motivated/active/eat better while not cutting down on the corn intake? I'm a full time student and I work 30 hours a week, so when I get home I just wanna sit on my couch and eat corn til I pass out! HELP ME STOP THIS MADNESS!!!
I am also a full time corn eater. It's madness and honestly i keep telling myself i have to stop because i know it is the reason i pig out on days and end up not working out. It's tough to break the habit. What i started doing, (the first time i did p90 not this time yet.) was every time i had ate corn and got hungry i would just remind myself on why i was hungry. Sometime literally saying out loud 'no cHicken4, you are not hungry this is just the case of the munchies' it would sike myself out of eating and i'd normally go do something active.
Now that i say that though. Last night after eating corn, freaking pigged out because my freaking Mother unit decided to buy DELICIOUS SEAFOOD all kinds fried and everything. Ended up putting myself in a food coma. Tonight, quack it i'm focusing

Chug some water. That's how I balance the corn munchies. Plus you feel better in the morning sknce you are probably dehydrated anyways
^Yeah one of the other things i would do was instead of going to eat something i would just drink a bottle of water. I need to get back in to this habit

It really works. And after a few weeks of doing this the munchies are much less severe. Also it keeps you awake late at night.
After telling myself for eons that I should walk to work every day, today I actually did it! It only took 25 minutes at a very brisk pace.
Biggest surprise? I got honked at 4 times! (Maybe it was the form-fitting tee & super-supportive sports bra that really accentuates the positive? Nah, it was probably the "I just made Monday my beeeeyotch" grin o' victory on my face!) Either way, yay for early-mornin' booty-shakin' & calorie-burnin'! ;D

Sounds like there are a lot of happy people this morning in Chattanooga!
Ok, so things have not gone too well in my get in shape plan and I could offer a whole bunch of excuses but I wont. Instead, I am jumping right back into p90x and the diet and not touching the Easter leftovers. I talked to my trainer and raised my goal weight back up 225, so I have 15 lbs to go and 8 weeks to do it. After Roo I will focus on that last 10 lbs.
On the plus side my pool is open so I have extra motivation to drop the weight and get in shape!
Hope everyone did better than me, but you got to fall down to know you can get back on the horse.
I lost my snoozer battle, but still made it to the gym. Unfortunately, I've strained my ankle a bit and cant do anything that has impact right now. No jogging, no jumping. And boom, I have to start using the bike or elliptical.
The most annoying part is that I am having pain doing my normal days walking. Living in the city and not owning a car I'm used to walking a lot. Now, if it's more than 3 blocks I'm considering a cab. Booooooooooo

^oh noes! Hope your ankle heals quickly!
(On the plus side: now you can let the hot chicks chase YOU!)
I was bad last night. Several beers and Al busted out CHEESE and crackers. NOMNOMNOM. Didn't even log it into myfitnesspal. hehehe. I DID log in my mini Milka and Kinderegg. C'mon, I had to eat the chocolate my sister picked up in the Munich airport on the way home. Milka, Kinder, and Lindt were the only brands present at my house yesterday- maybe I am a chocolate snob?? 0.o
So today I tried something new w/my protein smoothies. Thanks to Scrog's suggestion (sorry, dude: I know this was your "secret ingredient" but it's too awesome not to share!), I added a packet of Crystal Light (this time: Sunrise Orange) to 2 scoops of vanilla whey powder. With a splash of coconut milk in addition to water & ice cubes, it was AMAZEBALLS! Only like 150 calories and 21.5g protein. It tasted like an Orange Julius, if any of y'all remember that place.
I still prefer to use fresh berries, but this worked out so well I might stock up on other flavors. It certainly has fewer cals than fresh fruit.
^^^I love orange julius. One of the only highlights (of the town) when I visit my parents.
And we finally did a weigh in with my trainer today. In the last 3.5 months I've gone down 7% on my body fat percentage! That's like an 11 LB drop, with about 9 LB of muscle added on. Yay!!
This is awesome go Chico, hitting the fit club hall of fame with mayo!! Keep it up just think what you could turn in to in 57 more days.
Did chest shoulders and triceps yesterday, unable to lift my arms currently. might be bad if i end up playing softball later tonight. Freaking the weekend again killed me. Went to NY saturday for a show and got fairly drunk (an understatement) ended up turning me in to a Zombie on sunday.... Plus the master's were on, so i did nothing really this weekend. However starting phase II over all over again kind of like viking is doing, if i can just string together every work out week leading up to bonnaroo i'll be good.
Chico, you rock!!! Way to go! I still haven't found my way back onto the wagon, food wise. I ate an entire pound of jelly beans in two and a half days!! I knew that I should have just given them away when given to me.. Sigh.
I ran for the first time outside. A friend and I, who are both elliptical people, but NOT run outside type people, ran a mile this morning. Felt pretty good, and thought that I could've gone further. Instead of going straight home, I swung by the gym and did a hardcore 8 minutes on the stairmaster and ten minutes with weights. It wasn't a crazy morning, but this friend and I are doing a 5K on 05/26, so I am glad that we FINALLY managed to get that run in. Hopefully, I can do it more often!
Welcome back Bonz, but I do not find it strange that your presence being requested in the Orgy thread and then you showing up, like it was the quacking Bonzai Bat Signal.
Yeah holls and chico and chicken!!!! Awesome news on all fronts Holls - walking to work?! AMAZEBALLS. Prouda you lady.
I had a so-so weekend. Was home with the rents in Augusta (no I did not watch any Masters. it's old hat to me now), and we had grilled shrimp Friday, steak and potatoes Saturday, ham sandwiches Sunday, with many margaritas in between. I did walk for about 3 hours with my mom at the flea market Saturday, but that's about all the exercise I got in. I did manage to remember my burners, though. Yesterday I did not go to work, therefore did not hit the gym in the morning.
SO - TODAY! I RESTART! had a pretty cardio-intense workout this morning, burners taken, oatmeal eaten, almost through that first nalgene of the day. ...Trainer did tell me I need to put in a mile and a half on the treadmill at night in addition to. I don't wanna. But I'm gonna. DAMMIT. When I don't want to get moving - I just think of how amazing my tush is gonna look in my RooTu at Roo. ROOTU TUSH, ROOTU TUSH.

Ouch. No walkie to workie today... DAMN SHIN SPLINTS! (Lifelong history of these, starting w/soccer in junior high, which is why I never, ever run.) I should've known better!
It would've been OK if I'd walked a NORMAL PERSON PACE, but noooooo... I had to go all "speed race walker on Red Bull" & keep an uber-brisk 4mph pace. (What can I say? The iPod kept playing high BPM* stuff! Between the sweet swing tunes of Benny Goodman to the new Radiohead, I was practically dancing!)
By lunchtime yesterday, the pain had begun. I totally wussed out & got a ride home, then went out for Thai curry. Today was a training day (zzzzzzz) of sitting ALL.DAMN.DAY, so it was a good rest. So yeah, tomorrow I'm stoked to try again. Plus, it'll be a fantastically refreshing 38 degrees on the walk. And we all know that BRRR TEMPS = HAPPY HOLLS! ;D
EDIT:
I'm always looking for tunes that are a certain BPM so I can create specific playlists for certain workouts: moderate for warmup, fast for walking/jogging, chill for cooldown/yoga, etc. Does anybody have playlists like this? I know some fitness mags (Women's Health, Shape) will publish lists like this. But it's usually pop crap I can't stand. WHAT ARE Y'ALL JAMMING TO WHEN YOU WORK OUT??? Since we all (or most of us!) use Spotify, maybe we could share our lists?
Just a thought... I know how much I rely on tunes to motivate me; just figured you guys are the same way & have thoughts on the subject.
^^^Shin splints. Im with you lady. Get some resistance bands - the flat rectangle ones - and at night while youre chillin - draw the alphabet with each foot in the band. A la ballerina style:
Do it on each foot every night, and it REALLY helps with the shin splints. gets the muscles stretched out. Also, if you have a fridge at work, grab a couple bags of frozen peas at the sto' and keep them there so after you walk in in the morning all like IM HOLLS HEAR ME ROAR! you can slap those things on your shins for 15 min before you get your day goin.
Tunes: I like to drop a well timed encouragement song into my mixes. i.e. if Im gonna run on the treadmill for 20 min - right about 16 min when I think I can "quit-bc-i've-done-enough" I get Matt and Kim's 'Don't Slow Down.' For the beginning of the run, I like a little Phantogram - As Far As I can See, Futuristic Casket, or Bloody Palms. Gets me moving but isnt all GO NUTS right at the beginning... When I want to kick ass - Sleigh Bells. The pace isnt exactly right - but it makes me want to KILL the pavement/weights/exercise Im on. A-B Machines is a good one. U Should Know Better - Robyn (YEAH, IM the SHIZ UP HERE ON THIS TREADMILL, COME AT ME BRO! (AAF)) And any of Justin Timberlakes songs about being sexy - I just picture my ass being awesome enough for JT, and that makes me work harder. ;D

Rocked Plyo yesterday on p90 i can't wait to start playing basketball again, because after doing p90 once i could basically dunk a small basketball because i could palm it (to let you know i'm a 6ft white boy to put that in perspective for you). So after doing it twice maybe i'll be able to dunk a soccer ball, and move up to being able to palm a real basketball and possibly fail miserably at dunking multiple times.
Anyway music wise i basically listen to what i enjoy. A lot of stuff i can dance too/bob my head to. Childish Gambino, Hot Chip, The Rapture, Empire of the Sun, LCD Soundsystem. Anything that has a steady beat helps for me because i can kind of time lifting/moving with that and it keeps me focused. Usually shuffle and dance along during water breaks to keep myself moving honestly.
Totally didn't work out this morning :/ Told myself it was because I needed to make sure that I had enough sleep so I wouldn't want to release my shift at job two tonight. I mean, yes, that's a good idea, but I was also asleep by ten last night, so sleep would have been alright. I was wide awake at 5:45 too, why didn't I just get up?!?! Sigh.
My gym has individual TVs attached to all the machines, so I usually just plug into those instead of listenign to my own music. Maybe now that I am into reading while I am there, I can use my ipod instead of TV background music. Hmm... We're all a mess of paradoxes. Believing in things we know can't be true. We walk around carrying feelings too complicated and contradictory to express. But when it all becomes too big, and words aren't enough to help get it all out, there's always music.
I rollerbladed 3/4 mile last night and almost died, so then I walked 3/4 mile and called it a night.
FAST FOOD! OK, it's bad for you blah blah blah. We get in a hurry and forget to pack lunch and it happens. Here is my 203 calorie $3.29 lunch at McDonald's!: side salad (20 calories) with Newman's Own low fat vinaigrette dressing (35 calories, but I only use about 2/3 packet), fruit and yogurt parfait with granola (160 calories) and a large unsweetened tea with Splenda.

Anyone else have easy low calorie meals to share?
OG Egg McMuffin is only 300 calories. I'll grab one of those on mornings when I didn't pack a lunch and won't have access to food until late afternoon.
I'm trying to lose weight, but it's hard because beer is delicious. Eating better and lots of biking have resulted in about 10 dropped pounds in the last month, though.
