nwdreamer - I know a girl who's been doing Insanity daily for a few months, and she's really trimmed down from the waist up. She's been following a pretty strict diet too though, that Im not familiar with. But I would say that since she's started she's probably gone from a L to a S/M in shirt sizes. She may have lost some weight in the badunk-a-dunk too - but I couldnt say for sure.

OK, so I'm packing for the 1st festie of the season (Yaaaaaay for that! Memphis, here I come!) and it seems all my clothes from last season now swallow me whole.
MEGA YAY FOR THAT!
So I decided to take a peek at some of the "way back when" clothes from several seasons ago that are packed away in storage. Whodathunkit? Some of those are wearable now, too! (Granted, some of the tops require strategically-placed safety pins, else the cups runneth over, but hey...at least they button now!)
The slow and steady approach is working so much better. Back when I pushed myself to the gym 2x/day for 2hrs/ea, I dropped quickly & got really sculpted - but it didn't last. Now that I'm focused more on lifestyle (all organic, very little processed) than gym regimen, I'm seeing positive changes. Slow & steady FTMFW, y'all!
CLOTHING SWAP, YOU NEED TO GET HERE A-QUACKIN'-S-A-P!!! ;D
NICE HOLLS!!!!! So exciting when the old clothes start to fit!!!!!!!
On that note - weigh in this morning (missed wednesday due to work) and down another 5 lbs. 1.25/week! I'll take it. Also - measurements - THIS is the exciting part for me - Since I started, my arms are down 1.75'', chest down 2.75'', waist down 4'', abs/tummy down 4.25'', hips down 3'', thigh only 0.5'' BUT the quad and glute muscles are hardcore so Im okay with that
WOOOOO!!!
6 weekends from now - It's ROO TIME. Keep it up everyone!!! Yay!!!

Nice job everyone! I have not been exercising much, due to my allergies and not being able to breathe, but I have been watching my food (and wine) intake and have lost a total of 5lbs over a few weeks. I am at 133 now which is the lowest I've been in about 6 months or more.
Now my allergies seem to be more under control, I am going to get on that elliptical and hopefully lose another 5lbs before Roo

Good job everybody! I've been MIA from Inforoo lately and it's so good to see everybody getting all healthy! I've been getting fit lately too! I've lost 18lbs so far and I plan to lose a few more before Roo! I've been using the My Fitness Pal app to track calories and I just finished up Jillian Michaels 30 Day Shred yesterday! I'm starting her Ripped in 30 DVD on Monday and I'm really excited about it! I can't wait to see everyone at the brunch....we're all going to be extra hot this year!
Welcome back Bonz, but I do not find it strange that your presence being requested in the Orgy thread and then you showing up, like it was the quacking Bonzai Bat Signal.
I have before and after measurements. Not pictures though. 5 lbs left in 4 weeks! 3 Lbs week last week! And I started my pre-roo walking routine. 3-5 miles every night with the dog in addition to my normal pacing on the phone.

I dont have anything offical either, but I do have some pictures of me with my shirt pulled up in various locations in Seoul. That was right before I got down to workout business. I could probably take a new pic and post it closer to Roo.
I totally skipped the gym this morning and cant go tonight. Just got to get back on tomorrow. Last week was a pretty good one though. Worked pretty hard every day and killed myself on Sunday. Hence the skipping today.
I'm trying to cut out excess sugar from my diet. Not getting rid of sweets if I want them, but more like making certain that if I'm eating somethign that isnt supposed to be sweet it doesnt have extra sugar added. Cant give up my Double Stuf Golden Oreos.
Does everyone know who Michael Pollan is? I think a lot of you would enjoy him if you don't already! His most well known (illustrated) book is called Food Rules and the link below (recently forwarded to me by my mom who is a big fan) lists some of the points made in his book. For most of us, it isn't eye-opening, but I find reading them inspire me.

Hello all!!!! I haven't been in here for a while, and honeslt have been slacking really hard. Had a lot of school work with finals+work work, and really ceased doing p90:( and also ate pretty bad (especially this weekend, like really bad) Anyway, i'm trying to jump on the insanity train now, since i figure that's a quick way to loose some weight before roo and get my legs ready, unfortunately tonight..... My friend got awesome seats for Mets vs. Phillies (Right behind homeplate) so i will have no time to work out today either. However, tomorrow shall be the start of the 30 day grind. I mean i lost 7 lbs in 30 days before i think i can do it again. Glad you are all are miles ahead of me and keeping up with it. I'll hopefully be looking as good as you all come Roo time.
You can do it Chicken!!! Remember, you can always get back on the wagon
Yall, I did a 5-mile run on saturday morning. Of course, I weighed myself before I went, then bc they always say to NOT weigh yourself after working out, I thought, "lets see what the difference is!" fully expecting it to have gone up. (I dont quite understand this methodology, but that's what everyone says will happen...) So I did - and I had LOST another 1/2 lb. Seriously, I'm 1/2 lb away from a new "decade" as they say. Im beyond excited. It's like all the hard work and struggle to lose those first few lbs over 6 months is finally working - and it's falling off of me. Again, I stress: my measurements are what really get me going. But it's nice to have a number to attach to the loss, and to see it go down so steeply in such a short time is really really gratifying. Also, I know what size I am at every weight, and Im quickly approaching the next size down too - so I can finally get back into old jeans. IT's thrilling.
And - let's stay accountable - I did really well this weekend with food, Saturday was margarita de ME night so I def drank a lot. I did not make the gym this morning, but there's a run calling me tonight and every night this week, as well as gym tomorrow morn, thursday and friday morn. Wednesday I'll be out of town for work - munchin' protein bars!!!! NO FAST FOOD!!! Im on a mission.
OH! last thing - I got a wicked good recipe for some SUUUUUPER yummy protein bars. I know a delightful veggie girl who is a marathon runner (saw her sunday night, asked how her day was, and she was like, 'oh i just did a quick 60mile bike ride this morning." all like, no bigs) and she gave me her recipe. They're very yummy and NOT dry at all, in fact they need to be refrigerated, and they're super filling. Again, I reiterate, very yummy. I'll make them, and post the recipe here later this week
Music Midtown'01'02'04'05'11-'13::Ultra'02'03::Roo'07-'16::ACL'10::AF/TheNational'11::Sasquatch'11::Voodoo'11'16::Counterpoint'12'14::Moogfest'12::TommorowWorld'13'14::MOEMS'13::Coachella'14'15::ShakyKnees'13-'17::MFGLASTONBURY2017
I've got a pretty sore knee today. A case of the runner's knee going on. I guess it means inserts for my shoes, swimming, no running and lots of squats and lunges to get those muscles beefed up.
I dont want to do squats and lunges everyday. Boo.
uuuuuuuugggggggggggh squats and lunges. BOO chico. Boo. Those reverse lunges have been KILLING me lately. I'll get that recipe to you guys tonight. I haven't actually made it yet, so I can't offer any tweaks, but I have EATEN them, and they're great
Im trying to figure out why i was such a sweaty mess this morning at workout - all we did was cardio, and lots of upper legs and arms.... maybe it was the Ramen I ate last night. Yes, Ramen. The chat folks know why. I blame EAP. (not really EAP, I <3 you) Anyhow, total sweatbox this morning. OH - and note to everyone - when you realize AFTER you shower at the gym that you forgot your towel, a hoodie is not a great absorbent replacement.
Try this one on for size, Chico! It was a good cardio start up, and could be okay for your knee. Basically a burpee - but broken down: from standing position, go down to hands and jump feet back like a burpee 1 push up jump feet back up to hands, but spread to shoulder width 1 jump up and land into a squat. Repeat but do 2 pushups and 2 jump squats. Repeat with 3, then 4, etc up to the final set with 10 push ups and 10 jump squats.
yipes.
Last night I did some Jillian Michaels "No More Trouble Zones" circuit training and it was pretty good. GREAT inner and outer thigh workout on the mat.

^^^ Ugh, me too, but I can tell how much better they make me. I just need to get some of these injuries smoothed out. I want to start more box jumps and stuff, but having nagging ankle and knee pains arent making that easy.
If anyone doesnt know what a burpee is (and I thought WTF is that the first time I heard, kind of like I did with fartlek)

So since we are 4 weeks out, and a lot of us are doing great, I wanted to post a few reminders for everyone to make sure we all have a safe roo.
1 - Stop your routine at least a week before roo. Your body needs to recover, even if you are feeling good. Arbitrary goals we have set are not worth a shut down in the middle of the festival. Pro Athletes take an off day before games. Olympians reduce their workout drastically in the 2 weeks leading into the games. Do the same, and go in healthy.
2 - While you are at the festival, you are not on a diet or weight loss plan. You will be doing a lot just by living in the heat and walking. Eat and drink early and often. If you are hungry or thirsty, you already let it go too long. I am not saying gorge on unhealthy food. Just that you do not need to count calories or watch weight at roo.
3 - Give your body time to recover after the fest. At least a week or two to rebalanced itself. Roo is my Olympics every year and again, Olympians stop training for a period after their event. Your body needs time to recover.
4 - Recognize that by losing x amount of weight, your tolerance and bodily needs will be affected. That is x less pounds that dispersed alcohol and other things that are no longer there. There will be 15% less of me at the fest this year. That will have an effect. Plus, like medicine, it is not a straight line effect. In all likelihood, you are now a cheaper date and by a greater percentage than the % weight loss.
5 - Your metabolic rate will be up meaning things will hit you faster and harder. Again, go easy. Build up to where you want to be, instead of hitting the gas out of the blocks.
6 - Hydration and electrolytes are more important to you now more than ever. Your body is use to more water, and has become more efficient at using sweat to cool you. It is proven that when you get in better shape, your body sweats earlier in workouts since it knows what you are doing. You need more water and more salts than before.
Everyone in this thread should be happy and proud of what they have accomplished regardless of whether they stuck with it or hit their goals. This is not an exam you can cram for, and where you are in 2 weeks is where you are. Roo is a place for everyone to be themselves and celebrate life through music and friendship.
Some of the recent posts about trying to hit a last minute goal are starting to concern me. Between last minute goals and some of the overuse injuries coming up, we need to recognize that we are all human and that bodies need vacations too. And Roo is not a bodily vacation. After this week, I am giving up on the last 5 lbs, and moving to light walking and stretching until after roo.
I want everyone to return here a month from now talking about what they are doing to get ready for next year's roo and I think the above advice is useful for all of us.
Take a minute this weekend to look back at all that you have accomplished. As I said, you should be proud and not worried about last minute goals at this point. If you didn't make it to a goal, that's OK. We still love you, and we will be there with you next year helping you along again.
Due to my father's death I have decided that anything I eat this entire month does not count. hahahahaha. I ate a brownie earlier and now have a Coke float! OMG!! I was doing so good! SIGH.

I think you deserve some comfort food at the moment! Jump back on the wagon when you're ready. I'm sure there will be a few of us still truckin' along after Roo to lend you some support.
Congrats to everyone who has been sticking with it or getting back to it and not giving up. You guys are doing great!
As for me, I've really slacked on exercise. I've been so busy lately that I've not even tried to work it into my schedule. I was able to get a walk in the last two days, even though they were only about 30 minutes each. I guess it's much better than nothing, right? I have continued to log my food everyday though. I've had a few bad days, but for the most part I've been sticking with it. I weighed myself this morning and was down another 3.4 pounds in the last 2 weeks, making a total of 28 pounds lost. I'll be down at least 30 by Roo!
Apparently your exercise motivation took a detour & ended up with me. Trust me: this is NOT NORMAL! I'm a serious computer addict (as in, I usually come home & spend 6 hours in front of it, even after staring at it all day for work! Sooo not conducive to a healthy body OR natural skin tone!) so this week I started working out after work instead of coming home first. That has made a huge difference! I tried walking to work, but being a hopeless night owl means I just can't roll out of bed an hour early. After-work cardio (plus yoga or weights) is the compromise.
Plus, the weather this week has been SO UNBELIEVABLY PERFECT (low-70s, breezy, partly sunny) that you just really want to be outside. My goal was 2mi/every night (an easy 30 minutes, right?) but... Yesterday was an hour; today was a nearly 2 HOUR walk/jog excursion.
You know what started this renewed love affair with the outdoors? A playground in Nashville. No joke: a few weekends ago, I spent the day PLAYING OUTSIDE w/MikeD, Sarah & Phi at this cool park... and we had THE BEST TIME just having fun like kids! That's when my inner child sucker-punched the grownup in me for being so boring. It's as if it said, "Hey, remember when recess was fun?" And it was right! Exercising (whether inside or outside) CAN be enjoyable when you look at it as fun, not a chore to be checked off your daily To Do List. That's helped me regain motivation...maybe it will work for you, too?
KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK! You can hit 30 by Brunch, I have no doubt!!! ;D
The bassnectar show in birmingham caused me to lose 7 lbs so hit up extrememly hot venues and prepare.
This is so true. I saw Neon Indian the other night and had over an hour of constant, spastic, sweaty motion. A good show is great exercise. Stuff like that, the normal walking you do, and sex probably often end up forgotten when thinking of how much exercise you've accomplished.
One little thing I do is whenever I go to a store I always park as far away as I can so long as the weather's decent. There's no need to be right up front if you have a bag or cart, so that extra minute or two of walking is a nice little thing. Plus it's fun to coast on your cart when you're in the far end of the lot.
Holls, fellow computer addict here. Same deal of can easily put away an entire day on the computer without thinking about it. Way more under control now than it's ever been. Right now I'm in a NO NO WORD!!! study which basically entails me being in a hospital bed for eight days, so I have to watch myself to make sure I'm walking around and reading instead of just being on the computer all day. I ended up without internet at my apartment (neighbors I was sharing with discontinued it) and it's been really good for me to not have that easy access. I thought about getting it on my own but realized I was really happy with how it got me out a lot more so just never got it again. Definitely inconvenient at times though. Glad you've figured out a good routine. As long as you can break those computer patterns, you end up with a lot more exercise done. Sounds like you're doing pretty awesome. I'm glad that I have friends who still know how to enjoy a good playground haha. Go have fun on a swing!

Playing on a playground sounds like so much fun! Most exercises are a chore to me and that's why I don't do them. I've always enjoyed walking outside and I'm hoping to have enough time soon to hit some of the trails nearby. I'm also thinking of taking up hooping because it looks so fun. I know it would be a great to burn some calories. Between those things, my garden and the pool I'll have no problem getting some activity in this summer.
So my summer hours start the week after Hangout (YAYY!!!) but the downside of summer hours is that I start my work day a half hour earlier. I currently wake up around 5:30-5:45 on gym mornings. So, I will be getting up at 5:00-5:15. This just occurred to me and I REALLY hope that I can still make the morning gym happen.
