Has anyone tried shirataki noodles. No fat, no carbs, few calories.
They have to taste like sh!t, right?
No, I've never had them, but I've heard only wonderful things about them. My sister eats them a lot. Like a lot of things, I am sure it depends on what you put on it.
I bought them once... then I lost them in the great Snowtober last year (aka I was at Moog and it was too late when I returned to save anything). I've never bought them again oddly enough.

I haven't had them yet but they're supposed to be amazing if you dry fry them instead of eating them the way they are. I'm planning to get some soon....
I find the biggest loser to be motivating. When i lost all of my weight in 2010 is when i first started watching it. Kind of connected with the people on the show.
I know almost nothing about dieting, just to get that out of the way first. I am blindly following a plan given to me by someone who knows me well and my eating habits, and knows health and fitness well because they have a thyroid condition. I have been on this diet for a couple weeks now and I have to say that it really has been easy. It comes from changing my way of thinking about food. The #1 change is:
Food is fuel for my body. It isn't for enjoyment.
Not to say that I don't occasionally eat for pleasure, on the whole I eat to fuel my body. I "cheat" one day a week or less. This time I'm going 2 weeks.
Once that changes for you, you will start to embrace the way your stomach feels with less or no carbs in it. Just start snacking on carrots and hummus or rolled up low far turkey breast or ham, no cheese. Add meats to our salads, that's a major help. Little to no dressing. Bake off 3-5 lean chicken breasts and munch on those.
If you just cut out carbs (meaning don't ever eat bread rice pasta potatoes etc, not Atkins) and rwduce fats, you can eat a ton of food. Just have to choose the right foods. I actually feel full often but am well below my target of 1500 calories a day.
Hope this helps!
If anyone who hasn't already added me on MFP, my sn is the same here and there. Good luck and keep logging into mfp!!!
Sounds like you're doing everything right! Keep it up!
Serious low carb started today, hopefully I'll be melting away before your very eyes
Good luck!! It's be nice of you could post a general idea of what you're eating because I know you're going for ketosis and I may do the same. Also how many carbs you're eating and your progress
Keto is tough...good luck. Remember to check whatever your entering into MFP because not everything thing on MFP is accurate. The right nutritional information is always on the package.

I wanted to add, I found thru long difficult experience that if I do VLC (less than 20 gms/day of carbs) I lose exactly nothing even when controlling for calories. I know it doesn't make sense but the only thing that started me losing again was moving up to ~50-75gms/day. I assume its some hormonal/blood sugar issue. In any case, when I added one small potato to my VLC diet and started losing again fast. I think the "correct" carb level varies a lot from person to person and small tweaks in carb level (esp when you're under 100 gms/day) can make a huge difference.
ETA: I'm in ketosis at both levels confirmed by ketostix. Though my ketostix results are always weak, probably because I drink craploads of water and work out a lot. So don't get frustrated if that's the way you're measuring progress, lots of folks don't spill ketones in urine even if they're in ketosis!
As I mentioned in the What's For Dinner thread earlier, I made a huge portion loosely based on Nam Sod (a Thai minced pork "salad"). Two pounds of ground turkey, some peanuts plus nothing else of great caloric value (but tons of flavor- cilantro, a butt load of lime, fish sauce, mint, ginger, shallots, red onion, green onion, broccoli, red pepper, chili peppers, crushed red pepper...) later... I've got enough food to feed myself for a week (anyone want to be my boyfriend? )
I measured out about 17 "servings" worth to calculate the recipe on MFP (2 servings in my dinner tonight). Along with a pile of baby spinach and cucumbers (there's diced cucs on the salad as well as the extra on the side), my dinner is only 246 calories and I will guarantee you that it is SUPER tasty and will fill me up
EDIT: And this is what it looks like without the extra cucs and spinach:

Let's see Breakfast was an Atkins Bar - They're not great but I'm not scrambling eggs at 7 am trying to get the kids out of the house. Lunch - A big ass salad of mixed greens, cuke, alfalfa sprouts, bacon, cheese stick and around 4 ounces of roast turkey I made over the weekend. Dinner - Generic - Thin Sliced Beef Steak 6 oz, another big salad, green beans Snack - Colby Jack cheese, sliced ham and 1/2 pickle
I expect I'll get more creative as I go on. Not counting calories but carbs, in fact the total is only 908 calories. I'll definitely need to try to bump that up a bit.....
Hard boiled eggs and cottage cheese is a good quick breakfast. I usually have some sliced meats and almost milk with it and hot sauce alllll over it! Lol yum
I just friended you... not sure how to do anything with the group (we don't even use it much...). But once you're my friend, we can converse other ways (but I'll try to get you added too)

Jeez. I did great with the Thin Thursday challenge last week! Also hiked in the cold for 6 miles on Saturday. However, having a chef make foie gras and cheese plates, lamb chops with risotto, and bring me pastries...well that didn't do me so well. So back on track as of yesterday. Did pretty great today. No alcohol since the weekend. Gotta get on and log in.

Quacking bitches at work! They had to bring donuts in and they had to have a red velvet donut. I am not going to lie, it was good, but now I fell like sh!t. My diet has been good, no soda! working out is another story. I am weak when it comes to that, literally. Guess I need to step it up and joing the inforoo fitness group.

Dang bonz that salad looks so quacking good. Now I have to eat something at three in the morning because it induced hunger haha.
I drank some OJ and pulled through just fine.
Nope. Caved in.
I've been back on the food regimen I was doing last winter: microwave veggies with hummus, Cheerios with vanilla almond milk, plus a ton of caffeine and water. That's mostly taken in the form of raw coffee grounds which are icky but they do what I need them to. I change it all up a little but that's about 85% of what I eat. I don't get many hunger pangs but do have thoughts of gobbling down truck stop gutbombs about ten times a day. If I ever get rich I'm going to give up on life and spend all day naked in a fish tank full of Mondo Burgers and Red Bull.
One morning not long ago I found a bunch of McDonald's coupons scattered all over our porch. Some of them were for breakfast sandwiches and there is a McD just a couple blocks from me. I took the coupons as a sign haha and broke down. This is despite what happened the last time I ate McDonald's.
I stopped there the night I left Roo. A couple hours later I was tipped over in pain, incapacitated on a rest stop's lawn, fertilizing the piss reek grass with vomity special sauce. Thankfully I didn't get sick this time and was even rewarded with a hobo on the phone in there. He talked about all the times he's been in jail and scams he's currently attempting (stepping on a nail he'd plant at a restaurant was his best idea). I listened in on him for almost an hour and he kept me entertained. Thanks, porch coupon.
I'm still jogging but god damn do I wish it was less cold out.
Thin Thursday! Eliminating my weakness from my diet today, just for a day. For me it's fats so I'm getting my far grams as low as possible. Anyone who wants to join feel free!

Glad you logged in today, Scrog... I was about to call you out like you asked! What's your weight loss by Wanee goal? 83 days!!
I kind of forgot about Thin Thursday. My weakness is wine and tonight I am doing happy hour with my parents... I am really not sure if that's possible- especially when I'm not paying. Would it count if I had a martini?

Good job, Scrog! MFP is now yelling at LLL...
I think martini's are way better than wine because no carbs, but I'm just guessing. Besides, you can have a martini dirty which is a plus, all you get with wine is sweet or dry.
Edit: I just weighed in at 219.5. That's down 10.5 since I started but up 1.5 since my last weigh in about a week ago. Wtf. I've been staying on point. Bullshyt

I've been terrible the last two weeks for both food and gym. Too much work, too many concerts (not really just when combined with work). Next week after I sleep a little.
EDIT: I just wondered who posted this bc I didnt recognize my own avatar. Time for bed.
You made me LOL Chico. "WHO IS THAT?!?! A new Infofit poster?!?!?"
Surf, weight is such a tricky thing... it could be false water weight (ex. too much salt), or maybe you did gain. Sometimes people hit plateaus and they need to change something to continue losing.

I wouldn't worry about a 1.5lb weight fluctuation over a week if you've been conscientious. Unless you consumed an extra 5300 calories since your last weigh-in its not real. If you google 'whoosh effect' you'll find some reassuring info...its theoretical but I've experienced it quite a bit. My weight tends to plateau or even go up a bit (1-2 lbs) right before I have a "whoosh" and go down 5-8lbs in a few days. I forget the details but its something about hormones and water retention once you start burning fat.
Also...stop talking about delicious wine you guys!!!

Well, my cut for thin Thursday is carbs. But since wine has only about 4, I'm going for it. I ate only cabbage for dinner so I could spend my cals on cheese, nuts and wine.
