When I saw them in Duluth it was with Deerhunter? It wasn't them was it? They did a pretty good job, good show all in all, but just wrong atmosphere for them; people hated it in the audience.
Then again, when I saw NIN in 05 with Death From Above 1979, people hated that, too. So you can't really go by what they are digging.
i miss death from above 1979, at least jfk still entertains me with mstrkrft. i think the worst band i saw open for nin was the dresden dolls
I really can't get into MSTRKFRT... I absolutely adored DFA 1979, however.
I'd forgotten all about them. We saw them at Nashville River Stages a few years ago. Two songs in there were people literally running toward other stages to get away from them. We were among them. As bad as Steve Earle was that night (and he was pretty damn bad), he missed being on this list because at least he was better than being at Crazy Town...
When I saw Deftones, it was with a free ticket to a poopy "festival" (they called it a festival, but it was just an all day arena show). I was blown away. Chino's voice was incredible and the band was so quacking tight. I'd see them again in a heartbeat.
Was it the Family Values one perchance? With Korn? $10 tickets, Korn and Deftones headlining. Mudfights at Starwood. It was a good day.
No, it was Taste Of Chaos like 3 years ago. Worst concert ever, other that Deftones. It was nothing but nu-metal screamo crap.

Worst shows i've seen: Soundgarden --- 96 lolla Chris Cornell was absolutely wasted and intelligible. The rest of the band were right behind him. Moe. --- Smite away but i've given them 3 chances and have been so turned off and bored, I am genuinely very sorry. Creedence Clearwater REVISTED --- I didn't think it would be that bad or different without John Fogerty but should have known that since it was at a small county fair in Oregon that my childhood songs would be murdered right in front of me. RJD2 --- echo project, he had some major tech difficulties and couldn't get into it or something. The killers --- also @ echo. Also boring.
Hilariously Awful: Psychotica --- 96 lolla again, Electric metal cellos backing up marilyn manson's less talented retarded cousin screaming about jesus. Insane clown posse ---i went for the laughs and was not disappointed.

I got to throw a 1/3 filled two liter of Faygo cola at the fat one, i forget his name. They really treat their fans like poodie-poo, but they seemed to love it.
ICP is just one huge joke... they're not even respected within the wrestling industry (they have/had their own organization, and were on WCW and WWF for a little while... around the time of The Great Malenko).
Yeah... ICP has to be one of the worst groups I've ever heard.
The opening act for NIN. I don't remember their name. I tried to have their whole performance surgically removed from my brain, but all they could get out was the name of the band. NOISE METAL is what they played. Whatever the quack that is. The NIN crowd booed them off the stage. I like it when a large goth audience works together towards a single goal.
Health. They were so quacking bad. But they just made Trent and the boys look that much better.
The Sisters of Mercy. I've always wanted to see them, and my expectations were high. Instead, there was a wall of stage fog (I cant's really describe just how much fog was in this club), some lights in the background where the drummer should be (there wasn't a drummer - all sampled), and they only played the songs i usually skip. We stuck it through, as it was mercifully short, and immediately rushed back to the beer bar we hit before the show.
In the past:
Butthole Surfers - so many people on stage, so little talent.
Trans Siberian Orchestra - Christmas, 1985 style, in 2008. Not my thing...
KISS - we left early. what a phoned in mess. im sure they were shocking and interesting in 1973, but i felt bad for them.
Poison - usually a good show, but the most recent performance had far too much production and Mr. Rock of Love was a little too full of himself.
Linkin Park - it was part of a cheap day-long amphitheater festival i attended to see the superb Placebo. i am not a fan, and seeing them live did not win me over. Left early...
Meat Beat Manifesto - had some high hopes for some funky beats, but it was kind of a limp performance and a weak crowd. i enjoyed all the old school ebm/industrial vidoes they played before the show more than the show itself...
The Police (at roo) - zzzzzzzzzzz and I was hammered
Dave Matthews - maybe it was a good show? I don't know. all the loud, stumbling, drunk fans were so loud and rowdy, I literally could not hear any slow or acoustic songs he played.
Powerman 5000 - I second this. The singer is a huge doucebag - he had someone kicked out of the show for badmouthing him. and they were the opener!
I'm sad too hear you didn't like MBM, Butthole Surfers, or Sisters of Mercy, they're all groups I'd love to see some day... Especially Surfers.

I would have to say Ozzy Osbourne in Lampe,MO in 1996, Flaming Lips just this past New years eve in OKC, because it just seemed like they were trying everything they could to pass time and fill 1;45 min, with long silence, talking, and more long silence in between every song, which I dont understand because they have a lot of good albums, and it ended before midnight, Lame. I would also have to go with Sevendust in Springfield,Mo 1999, they went on late and were rushing through their setlist by playing their songs faster than normal, and when the show was over, their lead singer walked past a bunch of people, ignoring them, and disappeared into a VIP room. I would also have to say Bob Dylan in Springfield,MO 2006. He was incoherrant, his vocals you couldnt even hear very well, he stood in a dark, back corner of the stage,he never addressed the crowd, it was less than two hours, it was a boring concert, and it was $55 a ticket that my mom paid, she was upset, and I felt bad for her, talk about a ripoff. The other really bad concert I would have to list would be Steppenwolf in Lampe,MO 1999, the band really jammed, but the sound was awful, it seemed like it was really loud with nasty feedback, and both sides of the PA were shorting out, my ears were hurting so bad, the venue security were dicks, shoving people that were dancing in the aisle ways during magic CarpetRide/ Born to be wild encore. Needless to say, I didnt stick around for Loverboy, but my ticket was a free Comp that my friends mom hooked me up with.
alot of my friends cite both RHCP and weezer as two of the worst touring acts around. the worst i've seen was a band called dax riggs, they opened up for QOTSA in 07.
wow, i absolutely love dax riggs and his past band Deadboy and the Elephantmen (which played lollapalooza in '07)
i used to catch dax and deadboy at plenty of bars between new orleans and biloxi, MS.... i enjoy them in a small venue much more than a large venue

#1... Custom ... the lead singer is like 6'8" and the rest of the members look like midgets next to him.... music was completely ridiculus... think they had a lil hit years ago called "hey mister"
Flyleaf - had to endure them whilst waiting for silversun pickups at ACL last year
saliva (had to hear them from a distance because no one good was playing at the same time(WCPRfest)
Filter - (richard patrick was pissed off he was opening for sevendust, or just pissed off period.)
smile empty soul, puddle of mudd, 30 seconds to mars,
From my experience, emo/screamo bands are always pretty awful live. I had the misfortune of going to warped tour once and taste of chaos once. AFI, My Chemical Romance, were both awful.
Got free tickets to see Nickelback several years ago. I paid $5 to upgrade my lawn seat to a pavilion seat and wanted my 5 dollars back.
I also remember being really bored at a Paolo Nutini show, which was a shame because I really enjoyed his album.

Did anyone hear on the boards catch NIN/Boris in 2008? i woulda gladly traded deerhunter for some Boris.
I know nothing about Borris, but I thought Deerhunter were alright... they were just opening for the wrong band, and that band just so happened to have a RABID fanbase that was starved for their first concert in the area since 05.
I'd forgotten all about them. We saw them at Nashville River Stages a few years ago. Two songs in there were people literally running toward other stages to get away from them. We were among them. Karma for bringing up River Stages! Granted, she's not a band, but I saw Jessica Simpson at River Stages in 99 (this was before anyone knew who she was) and she was booed off the stage. It was terrible, I felt bad for her.
The worst show I've ever seen was The Fray about 2 years ago. A friend of a friend won tickets and she didn't want to go... and my friend didn't want to go... so I ended up with the tickets. We left halfway through the show. Turns out, we had also won free backstage passes but even if I'd known before we left, I would not have taken them up. I'm not sure I could have faced them after that performance.
Health. They were so quacking bad. But they just made Trent and the boys look that much better.

I did, it was NIN/Boris here in Montreal. I like Boris but it was hard to get into at this show. Their sound was a bit off also, I would love to see them at a smaller venue. I think the Centre Bell is a little too much for them right now.
saw that crazy chicka at Voodoo whilst waiting for Rage.....
good God I never wanted for one thing to end so badly in all my life.......
She was TERRIBLE at Voodoo!! We walked up on her, and I was like, "OMG. Who is the horrible singer???" Her set at Bonnaroo was slightly better, but still nothing great...
2012 Wishlist: Radiohead Phish Daft Punk Ghostland Observatory Broken Social Scene Roger Waters Bell X1 Bonobo Chemical Brothers Fiona Apple Built to Spill Modest Mouse
There are only 3 shows I've been to where I just thought they sounded TERRIBLE, and those were:
1) Motley Crue about 3 years ago. I saw them in about 1991, and they were okay, but this last time they sucked! Vince sounds like shit in his old age.
2) Bob Dylan (about 2-3 years ago). IT WAS AWFUL! He looked like a stiff on stage, and his voice has gone to complete crap. If you disagree, you're only fooling yourself.
3) Mano Chou at Bonnaroo in 2006. I had a pounding headache by the time I left. She b/c you have a lot of bass doesn't mean the music is good. The crowd seemed to be hyped up, but I think that was just crowd energy b/c the music was obnoxious.

yeah, i've never heard anyone say they were glad they payed to see Dylan. Its hard to believe all those good live recordings from 1964-1977 came from the same performer.

A couple years ago, me and the GF went to see Fiona Apple/Damien Rice play. Damien Rice went on first and knocked it out of the ballpark. Fiona closed and me and the gf ended up leaving after 5 songs (she wanted to leave after the 3rd). Her voice was a wreck and her band didn't seem to be into it. Since that day we call her Fiona Crapple.
