Buddy Guy ( seen him a few times and finally got to see him at his bar a few weeks ago, man he is so cool, just knows how to work a room.)
Umphrey's McGee ( I'm biased, been following for quite a while now but was starting to think their live shows were starting to slack but then I went to NYE and all doubt was erased.)
Neil Young( in any form , CSNY or solo or with Crazy Horse, just can't beat Neil)
Tool( I've only seen their show at the Roo but it was mindblowing for me)
Radiohead(I just can't get enough of them and I love Thom Yorke)
and an honorable mention to Medeski, Martin and Wood who have never let me down at a show
"We've all been raised on television to believe that one day we'd all be millionaires, movie gods, and rock stars. But we wont, and we're slowly learning that fact & we're very, very pissed off......."
Wow, this is really interesting. I guess my list shows how different my musical tastes are compared to the average roo goer:
1) Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band (without a doubt, even today) 2) U2 (wasn't a fan until I saw them live)
3) Coldplay (not a huge fan, but show greatly exceeded expectations) 4) Elton John/Billy Joel (don't laugh... Elton was my first concert and I love piano-infused rock) 5) The Who or The Rolling Stones (have to admit that the historical aspect plays a large part in this selection)
Looking at this list, I really need to get into some age-appropriate music!!
1) My Morning Jacket 2) Radiohead 3) Pearl Jam 4) Arcade Fire 5) The White Stripes 6) The Flaming Lips 7) The Black Keys 8) Neil Young 9) Wilco 10) The Felice Brothers
Honourable Mentions:
The Racontuers, Gov't Mule, Phil Lesh & Friends, Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers, Tool, Rodrigo Y Gabriela, Beck, Islands, Kings of Leon, The Hold Steady and Sonic Youth.
The stars are dancin' on the water here tonight It's gonna fall a soul when there's not a soul in sight This boat has caught its wind and brought me back to life now I'm alive and well

I like your list. All these bands are great live. Even the ones I saw late in their careers.
I was really amazed at Billy Joel live. I heard he was fantastic live but you won't believe it unless you see it.
1) Radiohead 2) NIN 3) The Stooges 4) Arcade Fire 5) Dropkick Murphys 6) Gogol Bordello 7) The Streets 8) The Hold Steady 9) The National 10) Metallica
1. The Avett Brothers, no contest, they put on an amazing show FULL of energy 2. Pearl Jam, Eddie Vedder is great, even when he is drunk haha. 3. Old Crow Medicine Show, just a good flockin' time. 4. Cornmeal! Saw them last year at the Sonic Stage and I am glad I stumbled upon them! 5. THis is a tie between Rod Y Gab and Back Door Slam.. The first two bands I saw on the last two 'Roo THursdays.. Both equally mesmerizing.
"There is an ancient celtic axiom that says 'Good people drink good beer.' which is true, then as now. Just look around you in any public bar-room, and you will quickly see: Bad people drink bad beer. Think about it."
