I live 15 mins away and will not be at the fest this year. I went sunday last year Trey w. classic tab/ben harper/jack johnson/rodrigo y gabriela. The festival was horribly ran last year. Atleast their was some "jambands" last year. This year has none. Its just a weak version of coachella

It's an incredible lineup, but I researched a bit, and the set times are horrible. 45 minutes for most bands, 1 hour is being nice. 2 hours for headliners.

Line up is way deeper than last year. If you're into jam band type shows (I wouldn't call it a festival) this is not for you, but damn. BUT I went last year and the vibe blows, beer jail, snobby NYers for Radiohead and goomba's from Jersey. That being said; people who say Jersey suck have usually only been on the Turnpike or in the airports. Jersey shore is where its at! And NYC is no joke! That being said; I moved out of NJ 10 years ago, only returning for the most special of occasions like TOOL. ;

It's a city festival... What did you expect?
Hell, their set lengths are better than coachellas.

It would be nice if they had more bands like they did on Sunday last year, but they had to get Trey and Ben on the bill to sell extra tickets, because JJ was not cutting it as a big draw. I am actually considering going this year since there are quite a few bands playing I wanted to see play roo, but didn't make the cut. I was also thinking of Lola as well, but I figure I may just just to APW since it is down the road from me

Can anyone explain why Gogol Bordello is ahead of the Arctic Monkey's? Arctic were one of the bands that really stood out for me on this lineup along with MBV, Q-Tip, Echo and the Bunnymen, Elbow, and the Gaslight Anthem(Who'd I love to see at Roo someday, or anywhere really)
^They have become popular over the last couple of years and they are playing in front of their home crowd by NYC. I think they can go either way personally.

Don't go to virginfest. You'll just pass out drunk on the lawn during the first Flaming Lips song and miss the entire set. ughhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.
Virginfest is truly all about THE MUSIC because there's no other reason to be there... ...sorry to hate, but just go to www.jambase.com/festivals and find a small camping festival that weekend and go there.
from what i hear announcements are made tomorrow in montreal for the canadian virgin fests, which, by rumor will have on in halifax this year. so, maybe they'll announce the american ones too? i would miss them. they are tiny fests but usually have a pretty decent lineup by my standards.
I'm almost betting it's not going to happen. At least in Baltimore. You usually get some rumors by now and this year nadda.Nothing.Zip.Zilch. I think APW, for what it is, killed Baltimore V Festival last year. Maybe I'm wrong. Who knows.

There's rumor that it's moving to Merriweather. How is that going to be a festival? Plus, Pimlico may go bankrupt.
I've always skipped V Fest. Apparently many teens dropped off by parents. That's hearsay, though.
It didn't take much for me to go the first year but it took alot for me to go back the 2nd and 3rd time. I really have dropped that festival from my list and hoping Vineland Festival made an apperance this year, but no. I don't mind city festivals but for some reason it raises the douchebaggery level to epic proportions. I heard the Merriweather rumor but I find it odd that announced they were doing FIVE V Fests in Canada.

That Saturday lineup is something I might be interested in. I'd rather get waterboarded than sit through a Coldplay show though, so I won't be anywhere near there on Sunday. Is APW really as bad as I've heard it is, what with long beer lines and generally uncool concertgoers?
6/18: Phish in Hartford 6/25: Phish in Camden 7/2-7/4: Nateva 7/17: God Street Wine at Irving Plaza 7/23-7/25: String Cheese at Red Rocks!! 8/17-8/18: Phish at Jones Beach 9/3: Rush at PNC
This Bonnaroo lineup is in dire need of some Rush.
Blink-182 The Bravery Danny Howells Franz Ferdinand Girl Talk The Hold Steady Holy Fuck Jet Lee Burridge Mates of State The National Pete Tong Public Enemy St. Vincent Taking Back Sunday Wale Weezer
And yes. It is free. Which creates a little conflict for me. The National? The Hold Steady? Crap.

damn..i wonder how long each set will be at merriweather. i assume there will only be one stage.
i really want to see the national and the hold steady are worth the price of admission every time.
plus ill be able to beat the traffic when blink 182 plays (lol.)
i was at the RHCP/flaming lips/the who one at pimlico. had a good time. it was 10x the fest that APW was (i was at the radiohead year). if it wasnt for a great perfomance by radiohead and the roots..that would have been the worst experience ever. the ridiculous security and joke of a beer situation was terrible.

The FAQ on their site mentions 2 stages... but I would think 1 as well.
And now Merriweather will be turned upside down for Virgin Mobile FreeFest, transforming it into the quirky musical escape-land fans have come to expect at V-Fest. It'll include two enormous stages and a massive rave-worthy dance tent - in addition to other mind-bending surprises.
I'm guessing they arent using the pavilion area at all? Good if so...
