45 now and a teenager in London in 1977 - what more could I ask?
I guess it's equivalent to a being a teenager in 1967 in San Francisco for the hippies.
Oh please please tell me that you will sit down with me this year and tell me some stories - i think I was born a few years too late - I missed all the fun

37yo mother bringing 17yo daughter this year. 47yo hubby went with me in '06. Had a blast and made some great friends! Have done fests with and without kids (also have 15yo son and 9yo son). Have not once felt old or out of place. Guess it depends on the mind set. This will be the first one where it's just my daughter and I without the rest of our family and we're both really looking forward to the "bonding". We listen to some of the same music, introduce each other to "new" music and are tolerant of each other's likes and dislikes. She's not really into Willie Nelson, who I love, and I'm not really into Kanye West, who she likes. That's one of the best things about Bonnaroo - the wonderful diversity. Anyone of any age can have a great time if they want to. Hope to meet some of you this year. Hi, again to those of you I've met before (seen a few of you from JamFanForum over here). And to those of you I don't meet - enjoy the fest.
tql4peace I started this thread and think it is starting to blossom which pleases me greatly. I started it since This is my first Roo and I'm 46 with a 17 yo daughter coming with me. I was hoping that others would be in the same great position. Would you care to see an act together and let our daughters have someone their age to talk with during the show? Just a thought since we will be alone and might be cool to meet someone new. Anyway just a thought and if interested pick a show and we can talk about the act.

No problem Meg - I'm assuming there's going to be a brunch again?

I've got to get in and look at the Infroo brunch.
I've decided to bring my 16 year old son with me. Glad to see others bringing there kids. I had to think about what he will witness, but decided I would rather have him witness it with me, rather than on his own. This changes my plans a little, but not much.
After Bonnaroo, we head to see memphis and Graceland - he has been a big Elvis fan for 5 or 6 years. Then we head up north to Windsor to make a quick visit to Canada. Somehow the cartoon "Fairly Odd Parents" has warped his mind about Canadians.

Nice to meet you Allen. I'm Tammy. We would love to get together with you guys. Shoot me an e-mail @ tql4peace@hotmail.com and we can work out the details. Maybe the girls will like some of the same music and we can bow out of any unwanted torture. My daughter gets along with most everyone and is a yakker. We're going GA - how 'bout you guys?
WoW, Glad I'm not the only "old hippy" bring my kid along! She grads from HS on the 11th, we're leaving for 'Roo that night. Shes's looking fwd to our trip more than graduation! We share alot of music tastes & she introduces me to new music. She def needs to see Willie as he is a classic like B B King. I really look fwd to Fathers Day @ 'Roo with her & folks sharing "family traditions" together! We're in GA so Tammy if our paths cross, hope we can have a nice chat!

Glad to hear you're bringing your daughter. Is this your first Bonnaroo? We're thinking to do the family camping area to try to get a spot close to Centeroo. Otherwise there is truly no rhyme or reason to where they put you. You'd think they would fill up back to front but they don't. It's luck of the draw unless you go RV, VIP or handicap GA. I talked to some people at Langerado this year with 12-14yo kids who did family camping at Bonnaroo last year and said it was about a 5 min. walk and that the folks at kidzjam said that it wouldn't be in the same spot this year but would be about the same distance. I don't mind a little walking but we walked to the last tent area in '06 just to see how far it was and it took us 65 minutes! Let me know if you want to try to meet up. tnmorrow and I are planning to get our girls together. We always love meeting new people. My daughter and I are both social bugs.
And we will definitely be at Willie Nelson's set! I have loved him since I was 2!

My 14 year old daughter doesn't express much interest in Bonnaroo but if AVENGED SEVENFOLD or BULLET FOR MY VALENTINE ever plays Roo I will undoubtedly have her in tow.

Funny you said that - I am about to leave for Memphis to see My Chem, Flyleaf and Driveby tonight

Hey this has been quiet. I look to see how old some people are and realize that I am a dinosaur. I've been prepping y son for Roo. We leave on the 7th and make a slow trip east, trying to find things along I-40 that are really cool. I only need to cover about 250 miles each day.
Planning to hit the OKC Zoo and the memorial. Visit Central High in Little Rock, maybe the Clinton Museum. May swing south of Memphis to Tupelo. He has been a big Elvis fan for last 4 years or so. Not sure what to try to hit in central Tenn.
^^^definately hit Graceland in Memphis and Tupelo is a great place for Elvis also - plus the Memphis Zoo is a really good zoo - and it is on the same grounds as the Art Museum
AND the Gibson guitar factory is in Memphis also - and the offer tours at a very reasonable price

Hey Todd, these may seem tacky but try the Jack Daniels Distillery and go to downtown Nashville and walk down Broadway, it has tons of honkey tonks. Yes, it is a tourist trap, but you'll see some interesting things and people. Be sure to step into Tootsie's Wild Orchid Lounge on Broadway. It has tons of old photos of performers, old and new.

What is the place that prints concert posters? I was through Nashville a couple years ago and visited the shop.
I appreciate the suggestions. I also want to hit Mammoth Caves after Bonnaroo. We have visited a couple caves in the National Park System and I think it will be fun to compare them.
I've also seen the thread about food places in Nashville, so I'll have to feed the monster.

I think the Jack Daniels Distillary is really interesting, plus its free I think
Mammoth Caves are pretty cool - there is one point in the tour where they have you look up at the roof of the cave (about 2 feet above you) and it is COVERED with cave crickets, I am talking thousands of the things. They looked way to much like spiders for my liking and I totally freaked out

I was just reading this, but I'm not old yet. I just wanted to say the Jack Daniels Distillery is a really cool place to see. Glad it was brought up...some of the rooms smell so bad they make some people stand outside. phew

Haha yeah they do smell bad. My daughter hated it so much so told me that I would not have to worry about her ever drinking whiskey

That's cute. But you know the smell has never stopped a lot of people. ;D I was about 8 when I toured the place and nearly got sick and threw up in some rooms.
This word also has a underground meaning once you break it down. Let’s take “Bonn” for example and it actually turns into the word “Bone”. We all know gays use this word to describe the action of when they are fecal fisting their Cuban cabana boy at their sex bath house parties. Now let’s look at Roo, “Roo” is short for “Kangaroo”.So put the full true message together and you get“Bone a Kangaroo

^^ha nice. I've already noticed some big changes in my sleep. I wake up very early now, and I used to be able to go right back to sleep, not now. I'm up now like it or not.

Well I'm not an OLD hippie I'm 43 been going to shows since May of 76' when my father passed on and my uncle took me to a greatful dead show in Tampa where we lived . Now here I am 33 years later over 200 dead shows and all I can say is our gouverment lies not little lies either . One out of four people smoke pot as adults in this country on a daily basis yet we as a group cannot seem to get together and get it leagleized . If we are going to allow are gouverment to continusly do this we have no one to blame because its our sheer lazieness that helps it go on . that is the main reason a skunk lives in my pocket and forever will . I guess you could say that I state with high conviction " they can have my pipe when they pry it from my deadcold hand " !!!!!!!!
