i grew up listening to motown and elvis costello, thats what my parents listened to and i thank them for that..however, for all you people that have been puttin down bob dylan, im the big bad pot calling out the black kettle..both al and elvis were at jazzfest last year both were not as good as they were in their primes, so enough hatin on bob.
sorry to call the undercard weak, its not weak...but ive seen better this year IMHO
as for the weather...i did not mention rain/shine, i said strictly temps...its common sense that somewhere 600 miles further north and next to a gigantic body of water will be cooler than somewhere in southeast us, so no i will mention "this weather Bull-Sh*T" as you so kindly put it. and btw it did rain on sunday night so when we left monday morning it was a nightmare, but after the greatest 4 days of my life, the rain just didnt bother me.......i would love if it rained at roth, that means more time in the forest
p.s. my cousins live in mufreesboro, i was not tryin to put down roo, just got sick of all the rothbashing...for us who went last year we know what we saw. all ive done since july 7 2008 is tell everyone i know about it i hope to see yall there
Last year at Bonnaroo was fairly cool every day except Sunday, so I will stick with what you are saying being BS. It is just as possible for Michigan to be 90 that time of year same as in TN, it is all up to the Weather gods.
As to the weak undercard, it is still laughable you say this. Rothbury undercard is a rerun of Bonnaroo's past, and honestly nothing you can not get at AllGood or Wakarusa for about half the price. The headliners are ok, but who cares about Cheese when Phish is touring. I just hope you don't get a Dylan and the Dead show that was weak in the 80's and is not likely to be any better these days.
Finally the hate on this board has almost solely come from Rothbury people, I almost wish inforoo would make this fest off topic, and send it all to infobury, or rothfest.com. Bonnaroo bashing is practically a sport over at those two sites. Rothbury sounds like a good time, and I have heard about the Sherwood forest enough to think you all are gonna wear green tights this year. However it is still a regional festival not a National festival, and if it does not diversify it's music some it will never cross that barrier IMO. So be happy with your fest, but do not expect to come onto a Bonnaroo board and start crap, and not recieve any of your own.

i didnt just do a "one-off" and leave...im here to take it
i gave roo its credit ( has roth beat on headliners and i did not put down the venue i gave it props) like i said i did it because of the rothbashing not because i hate roo. i dont hate roo. ther prob wouldnt be a roth if it wasnt for roo. but the biggest argument ive heard is that people dont want to see "bonnaroo __ (insert your favorite year here) all over again, and thats what roth is"...there has only been one rothbury and i feel like yall put it down before even going to it...just go look at past bonnaroo lineups its been several years since some of those bands played roo
as for the crowd numbers, i noticed yall avoided that because its true...here ill shock yall...i would LOVE to go to roo, phish and beastie right there are 2 of top 5 bands that ive never seen live that ive been dying to see...but i dont want to have to watch phish with binoculars....
so once again..i never intended to put down roo, just got sick of reading all the rothbashing
First off, undercard of the century, are you kidding? Yea it's great if you like jambands that tour constantly, are playing at almost every other jam festival this summer, and have already played Bonnaroo multiple times. However for the rest of us who want something new at the festival and not just a rehash of Bonnaroo 2003 (now with less Neil Young!) but in the comforts of Sherwood Forest, that's great. Once again I'm not arguing that Rothbury isn't a great festival if you're into jam bands and cooler (not a foregone conclusion, if you live by the great lakes you know this) weather.

A crowd is a crowd most music festivals have about 1000 people per 150 sq feet it seems like it does not really matter the total size you will still be in a crowd. Also I am lot more tolerant of board members who are a part of the community here, rather than people who signed up to start nuts .

bonnaroo is bonnaroo
roth is roth
one has a higher maximum number of people who attend
they both have great music, great vibes, and awesome environment.
some prefer one, some prefer the other.
i'm sick of the "which one is better" argument (this goes for all festivals). it's a stupid argument because it's based on individual opinion. there's no set rules that make one thing better and one worse. there aren't protocols for this.
some like one. some like the other. to bash one is just pointless.

and for the record i stand by my word...yes it is undercard of the century since technically the only headliner right now is the dead...if you think dylan and willie nelson would get a headliner spot ur crazy...MAYBE one of them does so the undercard reads something like this: sci bisco sts9..twice black crowes lotus john butler (trio?) les in some form g love yonder toots SHPONGLE railroad earth zappa plays zappa future rock
See, the reason why Roth doesn't really appeal to me this year is it's stacked with jamtronic and electronic and I don't really care too much for that kind of stuff. It's simply my own musical tastes. I like some jambands, but they aren't gonna get me to go half-way across the country to a festival. That's why I like Roo, especially this year. If I wanted to go see a line-up stacked with jamtronic and jam bands, then I'll just go to All-Good or something closer. I want diversity in my line-up and that's what gets people from all over the country and all over the world to attend Roo every year.
Nothing wrong with your musical tastes if Roth is right up your ally. Nothing wrong with ours if we say that Roo looks better to us. So it's all kind of a pointless round and round, if you ask me.
Monkeys, most arguments are based on individual opinion.
Sorry....poor choice of words on my part. My point was that it's stupid to argue which is better because there's no definitive answer. It's different for each and every person which one they like more or which one appeals to them more.
It's fine to have arguments.....but I don't see how someone can say one is completely better than the other. There are positives and negatives of both.

SCI and Dylan are the other headliners I am pretty sure. SCI there is no question, with Dylan I am still betting on it. I have never heard of a festival who did not release the headliners with the initial lineup. Maybe you will get Neil Young instead of Dylan, but that is still a big maybe.
So your undercard is more like
bisco sts9, and a live PA show (Not the same thing) black crowes lotus john butler announced solo les in some form g love yonder toots SHPONGLE railroad earth zappa plays zappa future rock
vs
David Byrne moe MGMT Al Green Booker T Robyn Hitchcock (Played Nashville Monday with all of REM except Stipe) The Mars Volta Galactic TV on The Radio Rodrigo Y Gabriella Tony Rice Unit David Grisman Quintet Crystal Castles Wilco Public Enemy Erykah Badu
For my personal preference Bear Creek has the best Undercard this year, but not much in the way of headliners. 99$ Early Birds
Galactic x2 Karl Denson's Tiny Universe x2 Ivan Neville's Dumpstaphunk x2 Lettuce x 2 Perpetual Groove Steve Kimock and Crazy Engine The New Mastersounds x 2 Lotus Hill Country Revue Porter Batiste and Stoltz x 2 The Benevento -Russo Duo Trombone Shorty and Orleans Avenue Garage A Trois Fred Wesley and the New JB's Papa Mali Band The Slip DubConscious x 2 Zac Deputy x 2 The Pnuma Trio Bonerama The Ryan Montbleau Band Surprise Me Mr. Davis

Forget Rothbury, there's not a festival in the WORLD this year that compares to Bonnaroo's lineup. Coachella and Lolla (probably) have both fallen short, IMO.

hes rumored to be an add hahahahahahahahaha
I know he's rumored to be an add, but only by a guy who may or may not have been taking to the guys from rothfest. So I'm going to hold off on believing this until I hear it from someone not named towel something or nother.

of the 12-14 bands i listed i would say 1/2 are electronic...sci may headline but dont be surprised if they wind up a late night...bob dylan will NOT be a headliner= epic fail. i see him being a late afternoon set as a possible pre headliner.
sorry to offend anyone, i tried not to make any personal attacks thats not what im about...just trying to give rothbury some more credit

wolfman: i think a minority of people roobashing have bashed this years roo lineup, or any year, except 2008 (and seriously kanye west and metallica?? even you have to admit thats one that roo will sweep under the carpet), and i dont plan to bash the line up..it appears the vast majority of roo that was bashed was the crowd, ie..."brofest" and "drunken frat kids ruining my good time at roo"
