Whether it's your first Bonnaroo or you’re a music festival veteran, we welcome you to Inforoo.
Here you'll find info about artists, rumors, camping tips, and the infamous Roo Clues. Have a look around then create an account and join in the fun. See you at Bonnaroo!!
The only reason I'm calling you out is because you were on a Bonnaroo message board saying that Rothbury was better, yet you had never been to Rothbury. Can't you see how that's f'd up?
well done linkovich. I for one defended Bonnaroo till the death before this sumemr hit. but i knew i would have to go to Rothbury before i could really stake my claim to which one I "perfer" or which one had the better vibes.
The experience i had was amazing. I loved every second of my first Rothbury festival. Obviously there are things they need to improve on. This was only their second year after all. But IMO the VIBES were better at Bonnaroo. It can be different for each idividual. Im from Nashville so naturally have a special place for Bonnaroo in my heart.
Bearing major setback i will return to the double j ranch next year in hopes of a more music friendly lineup, no kicking people out of the forest at 345, better sound quallity on stage, and more intelligent individuals running security. There are a couple more things i would like to see different but whatev.
BONNAROO> Rothbury and everything Phucking else

I don't mind a going to a smaller festival with good vibes and better weather. There are several out there, my issue is that Rothbury costs just as much as Bonnaroo with half of the lineup.

That's a good point.....but hopefully the ticket prices don't get much more expensive but they keep expanding the lineup at roth. I'm sure the possible cancellation of Rothbury a few months before the fest had some effect on the lineup. Maybe they had more bands in mind? Who knows......but Roth has plenty of time to grow.

well, you're just going to disregard every point i actually make because i disagree with you, which is extremely mature
sorry you can't accept that a festival might ACTUALLY be better than bonnaroo. in the end, i guess it's all just opinion anyway. but MY .FUCKING OPINION is that rothbury kicks roo's ass in every way. sorry you don't agree. actually, no, i'm not sorry. bring up whatever stupid examples you want. i think you're wrong, you think i'm wrong. you changed your mind yet? yeah, me either.
^Every way except diversity of music, and the price to bands ratio. Also didn't I hear the venue closes at like 3:30 or so instead of letting people rage until the sun comes up.
I just don't get why anyone wants to be on a Bonnaroo message board spouting off about how much better Rothbury is. Maybe I am confused.
Iknow that we all have our own opinions about festivals. I like Bonnaroo. Having never been to Rothbury I can't say that it is better or worse. But I know that I am not going to go over to Inforbury after Bonnaroo and say "Rothbury sucks and Bonnaroo is soooo much better and the vibe is better and the line up is better." That just makes no sense.
Why can't everyone just give us yur opinion about the festival; i.e. it was great/good/bad, the music was this/that/the other; there is this really cool thing there, blah blah blah without having to try to compare the festivals.
All of the festivals are different and will have their own unique things about them. It's like comparing apples to oranges and then getting all superior over the fact that you like apples better.

Bonnaroo > > > > Rothbury. You shouldn't even be able to compare the two, both different monsters. But if you did, more diverse lineup, bigger headliners, late nights with no curfew, and diversity of people beat the almost all jam band lineup and the mystical great vibes of Rothbury. I'm sure it's great, peace love and all that, but Bonnaroo has a bunch of that too. However I'm glad you guys enjoyed Rothbury, but if you can't appreciate what a juggernaut Bonnaroo is becoming in the music industry, and how awesome it is that it exists, well have fun once Rothbury runs the same jam bands at you guys every year.
And Austin Hippie, I didn't believe you until you started typing in ALL CAPS. THEN I UNDERSTOOD YOUR ARGUMENT BETTER. THANKS FOR THAT.

have a lovely day
I realize you have your opinion. The point I was trying to make is that back in March, you were on here saying Rothbury was better than Bonnaroo, but you had never been to Rothbury before. This was your first year. So, how did you have an opinion about a place you had never been? That's the only question I had for you and you still haven't answered it.

People tend to get upset on here (and other message boards) when you question them. Anytime i've asked someone to explain what they mean or give more info as to why they feel a certain way they just assume i'm being a dickk and trying to attack them. I'd like to see hippies answer as well.
I just don't get why anyone wants to be on a Bonnaroo message board spouting off about how much better Rothbury is. Maybe I am confused.
Inforoo is a bonnaroo message board, but this is the Rothbury thread. for someone who has been to bonnaroo three times and had just attended their first rothbury, this seems like the most appropriate place to express their opinion, at least to me. Some people seem to take this personally or an attack on the bonnaroo, but there are some of us (myself included) that have been up in the air the past two years on which fest to attend.and reading a post like hippieNaustin's , someone who has been to several bonnaroos, like me, and has recently made the switch to rothbury and claims she personally had more fun at Roth, well i just look at that as someone informing us other 'on the fence' people of which she personally recommends.
as a four time bonnaroo attendee who has been flirting with the idea of attending rothbury for two years, i am on inforoo more so than infobury and check this thread for people who have been to both so i can see whether the 20 hour drive to roth is really worth it, more so than my 6 hour drive to bonnaroo. if i was rich i'd attend both every year, but i am a broke college kid that can only afford to do one $300 fest a year.
^^^Oh I have no problem with Hippie posting her opinion as to what Rothbury was like but why come on here and say that Rothbury was soooo much better and basically imply (not outright state) that Bonnaroo sucks.
I was just trying to get hippie to admit that she had no business saying Rothbury was better than Roo before she had ever been there. This was her first year at Rothbury, but a couple months ago she was saying things like the "vibe at Rothbury is 100x better than Roo." If she had come on here saying Rothbury sucked, but had never actually been there, I still would have called her out.
i can understand what you mean about the dead's second set. i think it was one of those things where you either were with them or you weren't. i know quite a few of my group felt the same way you did. i also agree about the sets at the dome. i didn't go to many of them, but they were definitely short. only an hour? really??
but, the shows i decided to go to blew me away for the most part. and to actually be REALLY COLD at night, and even throughout parts of the day is amazing. the lack of 30-40k extra people was also very nice.
Hahhahahah I was there....... and I wasn't there...... hehehehe
What a stellar show! At times I had to sit down because I thought my mind was blown.
Hippie can I fondly poke fun with you more? COLD? I guess thats my Canadian BODY compared to your Texan body! heheheh I was roasting at night and all day! I've got such a wicked sunburn and you know my braid I had in all weekend? Well I have a "Racing Stripe" down the middle of my back, its BEAT RED, and in the middle where my braid was, its white..... its the only part of my back that doesn't hurt.
As cool as Roth sounds ( really, it sounds like the setting is much cooler than Roo), I have not been feeling either of their year's lineups. Just... I dunno. Not enough diversity for me.
The eclecticism of Bonnaroo is what keeps me coming back, year after year.
I'll give Roth a shot when they have a good, well rounded lineup that would allow something for, literally, every fan (don't get me wrong, they do get some GREAT acts, but you all should know what I mean)... in the mean time, I'll get that with Roo.
my 2 cents = any smaller fest is inherently going to be better than Roo for the simple fact that its smaller and don't get me wrong I love Roo but for pretty much only one reason though and thats the line ups but in every other aspect I like every other fest I have been to better. My opinion prob doesnt meant shite though since imo Camp Bisco is the best festival to ever happen.

well meg, here's the thing. this forum is for OTHER FESTIVALS. rothbury counts as OTHER FESTIVALS. so, i came to the OTHER FESTIVALS forum to talk about my opinion on rothbury with is ANOTHER FESTIVAL.
and please point out to me where i said bonnaroo sucks. would it be because i've spent thousands of dollars on tickets, travel, time off work, etc 3 different times to go to bonnaroo? so if you could please stop trying to infer something that isn't there, i'd appreciate it.
i'm coming on a thread about ANOTHER FESTIVAL and expressing my opinion on it. you say you have no issue with that, but your posts screams otherwise. i have never once said bonnaroo sucks. and in fact, have spent countless posts on infobury, and even here, defending it. but, my opinion is that roth is better. sorry that upsets you so much that you don't think i should talk about it. but if you think I'M instigating so much, why don't you read the posts of those who seem to want to flame me for thinking roo isn't god. they're doing the same thing.
don't read it if you don't like it. if you want to talk about how great roo is, don't come to a thread about ANOTHER FESTIVAL. pretty easy i'd say

i had the opinion based on people who had been, and who are good friends of mine. like is stated before...i base vibes on people. and i've found that the people i know through the festivals individually tend to be more laid back, and more like the kind of people i generally hang out with. i posted that before, but i can't help it if you're just not hearing what you want.
but now, let me ask you...have you been to rothbury? if no, then why do you CONTINUALLY discount my opinion now that i HAVE been to both? you seem really stuck on making sure the past is the issue rather than conceding that now that i've been to both that i CAN make statements like i do.
i'm sorry i don't think roo is the best festival to ever grace the planet. like i've said before(i feel like a gd broken record), roo will always be my first love. i feel like fests like roo have paved the way for fests like roth...i don't discount any of that. but overall, i feel like roth kicks any festival's butt that i've attended up to this point. that's my opinion, and i'm sorry you can't accept it, but that's how it is.
I just don't get why anyone wants to be on a Bonnaroo message board spouting off about how much better Rothbury is. Maybe I am confused.

geee - you conveniently skipped over my other post that says this
^^^Oh I have no problem with Hippie posting her opinion as to what Rothbury was like but why come on here and say that Rothbury was soooo much better and basically imply (not outright state) that Bonnaroo sucks.
I just don't get it
so - I did follow it up with stating that you did not out right state that -
why do you always get so defensive when anyone (me included) doesn;t agree with your opinion. You come back and post really aggressively when all I was doing was expressing my opinion also. Was not trying to bash you or anything about your opinion.
I understand this is a thread about Roth and all BUT it is still a Bonnaroo message board. I get that you had a great time at Roth - can we not just get an opinion as to what the highlights were without the ROTH>>>>roo attitude.
Besdies - isn;t there a Roth board to rave all about Roth and talk about how much more fun you had there then at Bonnaroo?
you seem really stuck on making sure the past is the issue rather than conceding that now that i've been to both that i CAN make statements like i do.

You CAN make statements like that but it IS obnoxious. Anytime it seems like the negative vibe goes out of this thread you DO jump back in and start it back up.
I am sure it was great like Lakai said a smaller festival is always going to have an advantage over a larger one in terms of crowds and whatnot. However lower ticket sales mean they will never match the lineup or diversity of a larger festival. There is always a trade off, and you seem happy with it. Thats great I am happy for you, and that you enjoyed it. However just because this is in the thread for other festivals, it is not in the thread for Bonnaroo bashing, and when you come do that on a Bonnaroo board expect flack from the members. Nobody has a problem with constructive criticism, however no one likes a troll either.
I'd like to talk about how much better All Good was than Roo or Roth, but I wasn't there. So I'll just guarantee that All Good was better than either in a lot of ways, which I do not care to list at this time, although I reserve the right to do so at a later time. ;D

This thread always gives me the lols. I never thought I'd see the day where someone was so persistently hanging on to an argument over a post from 4 months ago.
