Whether it's your first Bonnaroo or you’re a music festival veteran, we welcome you to Inforoo.
Here you'll find info about artists, rumors, camping tips, and the infamous Roo Clues. Have a look around then create an account and join in the fun. See you at Bonnaroo!!
wolfman: i think a minority of people roobashing have bashed this years roo lineup, or any year, except 2008 (and seriously kanye west and metallica?? even you have to admit thats one that roo will sweep under the carpet), and i dont plan to bash the line up..it appears the vast majority of roo that was bashed was the crowd, ie..."brofest" and "drunken frat kids ruining my good time at roo"
all IMO..of course
2008 was my best Bonnaroo experience ever. I slept through every headliner and raged Midday and latenights. When everyone was at Kanye I was at Chali2na and Galactic which was one of the best sets of live music I have ever seen. 2008 was a banner year if you just knew how to do it, in all fairness inforoo taught me how, and I raged for four days solid.
, except 2008 (and seriously kanye west and metallica?? even you have to admit thats one that roo will sweep under the carpet),
I understood the bashing in 08. I liked Kanye.....was indifferent towards metallica. But I saw a lot of people (on here and in real life) complaining that these two artists were on the lineup. They hated that they didn't fit in with the first few bonnaroo lineups.
The kanye bashing was warranted. After what went down I was definitely less of a fan of his and he validated most of the things people were complaining about.
Metallica on the other hand embraced Roo and were welcomed. They played a high energy, rocking show and proved people wrong. While they may be a different type of music than the jamband heads enjoy......they definitely did all they could to fit in and win over people. They really seemed to have a good time.
I don't see how people could bash this years lineup unless they are just upset that the bands/artists they wanted aren't listed. There aren't bad artists on the lineup.

2008 was sweet for Roo! Not a whole lot of people that year. It was like a Music Playground! Bonnaroo's set up is so good, I was able to go from one stage to the next and easily get really close without having to wait a million hours in one spot before each show. The crowd is always good and if you do it right (being just enjoy the fest-it's all good!) you could've partied your face off until 4:30am and then stumble into a full on Kanye West show bringing in the morning! If you just love music go to any fest you like and try not to stress about seeing these exact bands and needing to be super close, just let that sh*t go and you will probably have it anyway without worrying the whole time. Kinda lost my way at this point, both Roth and Roo are sweet as long as you see them as a whole and not in pure which band and which time slot.

Also to add: Kanye and Metallica - so what! There was still Levon freakin Helm, Disco Biscuits late night, Phil Lesh, Ivan Neville, Charlie 2na with Galactic, Bela Fleck, Broken Social Scene, Sigur Ros late night, Robert Randolph, Umphrey's Mgee, Dark Star Orchestra all in God Damn Tents!!!! Those sound pretty Bonnaroo to me, never mind the fact that the tents provide a nice intimate atmosphere that these bands would not get in a million years at any other fest. Plus never mind the 4hr MMJ show and all the Which stage performances, where again most of those acts would be on the main stage at other fests. Bonnaroo is always a win for these reason's - you actually get to SEE the band's, living legends, jams, stage art ect... Plus need I even mention late nights!?

I actually love Metallica, so all in all 2008 was the Sh*t - Loved it when Hetfield said "Do you know what song this is??!!!" as And Justice For All... rings in.
there's no dmb, john mayer, snoop, 311 there this year. i thought they were going to get no doubt or incubus or something like that. but they went pretty much with the bonnaroo 03 lineup. so what do you expect?
Ouch 25% behind last year, I would guess this will hurt the Neil Young Chances.
Looks like Bonnaroo is selling better than last year:
"And ticket sales for Bonnaroo in Tennessee "are looking really good compared with last year," says A.C. Entertainment president Ashley Capps, whose company co-produces Bonnaroo with Superfly Productions.
"Two weeks ago we were up 10% and this week we're up 15%, so I'm feeling really optimistic," Capps continues. He declined to reveal specific ticket sales numbers."

the dead, bob dylan, sci, sts9, bisco, yonder, les, mule, ani defranco, femi kuti, john butler, g love, guster
1) thats a small percentage of those 3 lineups put together
2) theres at least 60 other bands on the bill for roth 09
if you are going to rothbash, please use another excuse.
You're right, Roth '09 is a lot more like Roo '04, thanks for the heads up.
Edit: For the record I think Roth's a great fest. Great atmosphere, jam band lineup, and supposedly people, although we're not getting that from the Rothbury message board trolls who feel the need to have everyone know how much better their festival is than everything else on the planet. I'm sure most are not like this and are "kind" folk, but do we really need to keep hearing from Roth fan boys all the time.
I love Roo, I love the lineup this year, but I've only gone to this festival. However I know that there are other great fests with great lineups like Coachella, Lollapalooza, Glastonbury, All Points West and a bunch of others. But do I feel the need to go on their boards and tell them how much Roo is better than them, no.

I started my whole festival experience with Roo in 07. I loved it and will continue to attend Bonnaroo in years to come. I believe that coming from Canada, and driving over 20 hours to get there, I may be able to provide some intelligent insight here.
These boards provide not only a place for us to enjoy and get to know the people we can meet at the particular festival, we learn the lay of the land and logistics which is very important to the people who are first time fest goers to this festival scene.
If it weren't for Inforoo, I personally and other wouldn't have learned about Rothbury. The first time I heard of this festival was when Cupcake (The creator of created the forum. I personally got my tickets the first day os sales lastyear.
These forums aren't just for us to talk about the specific festival that this board (inforoo) promotes, we also talk about other festivals that we can attend.
So, I guess my point is, while I and others appreciate how you may be concerned that the "Trolls" over at other boards come here to promote the festivals they attend because they love these other festivals, itsn't it the plain truth that we raise awareness and boost the suffering economy?
These boards are here to promote this festival, and others too.
I'm still as much a loyal member of Inforoo, I am an Infobury member too. Each festival has their great points and fans really love to talk about that.
If you think Inforoo shouldn't allow talk of other festivals, you should discuss this with the Moderators.
^In all fairness I don't think any of us mind discussing Rothbury as well. The "Trolls" are the people who come here only to discuss Rothbury, and then do so with the same attitude as that of a Christian Missionary just arrived on a small island full of pagans. Namely that they are here to deliver the Word to us from on high, about the vibe, and how us pagans can never understand it. However they are also the first to cry foul if you point out things like a lack of diversity or the repeats in the lineup, and go back to the ineffable vibe.

WolfmanJess! I find this board sooooo great to look up information and the veterans are so helpful with us newer people travelling to Bonnaroo YET I also find its hard to keep up with all the posts because there are almost 8000 members and its super quick.
I guess I haven't been following inforoo as much as I should! I barely comment in the Rothbury threads because I have seen people who post that sort of attitude. I think all festivals have their own attributes and downfalls. I've also seen people who haven't actually been to Roth, say how great it is.....
I kind of laugh because people take this whole Festival thing sooo serious! Its almost like a religion! I'm Catholic, so I'm right, you are Pagen and your thoughts are right, he is Calvary Baptist, so she is right. Festivals are the SAME way!
I truly don't understand the debate on the whole Roth vs roo thing......
I'm wondering if the whole debate is here because of all the legal problems with the bankruptcy of JJ Ranch.
Thanks too for the clarification Jess-I wasn't sure what the issue was.
Sangreal-Here is some Karma for ya. I just saw that the mods changed the names of karmas, so I'm hoping I don't actually smite ya......
