Also from columbus... anyone know how long of a drive it is to bonnaroo from here? It's my first year going to bonnaroo, and I have no idea what to expect.

I think it usually takes us about 8 hrs from Columbus. We do go a different routte than most and it helps avoiding some of the traffic. This past year due to work we didn't arrive until night time and the one good thing about that was we didn't have to wait hours on the side of the highway in line to get in. Of course that meant we parked further away and had to walk further to centeroo.
I agree! I really want to be with another group of people, to minimize the chances of getting lost... I already have five other people in my group. If anyone on here wants to meet up, you should find me on facebook. I'm relatively sure i'm the only Katie Millay in the columbus area..

what day/time are you planning on leaving columbus for manchester??
i'm heading down solo (so far) on weds (6/8) morning/afternoon.
my plan (as on now) is to crash in nashville on weds night then get up early and drive down to ROO early thurs morning.
i think we were all planning late wednesday evening, and just driving through the night? we were hoping that we would run into less traffic that way. what time do cars usually start lining up?

I am in Athens, but probably heading out close to Columbus if I go this year. Still don't have any idea what will be my travel plans, as usual for bonnaroo.

katie503, they start letting people in BFE (Camp James Bond) on Wednesday night. Once that fills up, the line starts for Thursday. And I've never run into any traffic issues on Wednesday, but I drive during the day, so I don't know what it's like at night.
I'm not really sure when the BFE camping fills up (I know they don't start letting people in until after 7-8 p.m., and we've gotten set up and seen cars rolling in long past sunset). One word of warning: The later you get in line, the farther they put you away on Wednesday night, and it can be a LONG walk to Centeroo from the James Bond camp area. We did the Wednesday thing in 06 and 07 and haven't done it again because of the crazy long walk to and from Centeroo. Exhausting isn't a strong enough word.
I usually head out of cbus around noon on Wed. and hit Wally World around 8 (we pick up an hour- time change on the way down). If you decide to get in line for BFE think about going tent only. Tent only opens Thursday a.m. and is very close to Centeroo.
I thought about going tent-only, but I'm going in a group, and it would suck to have to carry our tents, coolers, etc. from my car. Is it really that far of a walk from parking to tent only?

depends on where you get parked.
if you get stuck in BFE (Pod 1, 007 Camps) then yes, it's a hike.
there's a map of the ROO grounds/camps in 1 of these threads.
some staying in tent only will bring a beach wagon or other device to haul stuff from car to tent. On the exit out I believe you can drive your vehicle close to tent city and pack up
First timer from Cleveland more than likely going solo. If there aren't people going from around Cleveland I could stop in Columbus or something. I was planning on leaving on Wednesday at some point.
My friend and I from Columbus are going! Caravaning sounds fun. Are most people camping? I've never been before but I've heard mixed reviews from those who camp. I'm thinking about reserving a hotel tomorrow that I found. Any thoughts/suggestions?

camping is part of the entire ROO experience.
just say no to the hotel.
camp or die.
showers and laying in a bed at the end of the day are nice, but you can do that the other 361 days in the year.
Alright well my friend and I think camping would be more fun anyway so I think that's what we are going to do. Since I'm a first timer, who wants to fill me in on "things you should know before you go"? Also, we'll have room in the car for 2 others if anyone's interested.

browse the fest 411 tab on bonnaroo.com and the That Tent forum on this website for everything you need to know when it comes to camping/survival/what to bring, etc.
Thanks for the links, you guys rock! Someone I know had suggested bringing a Camelbak. I'm assuming they are allowed in, but wanted to verify with someone else who knew for sure.
