Wow -- Goldenvoice gets billed $1000 a minute by the city for sets that go after midnight. That's $50K for Sir Paul and $33K for The Cure. I don't know if that counts the amount of time that they played after they had the plug pulled on them...

So how does Bonnaroo get away with late night concerts? Granted I don't know what surrounds Coachella, it looks like nothing but desert, but Bonnaroo is not necessarily surrounded by nothing. I remember walking to the bus station on Sunday last year, and going in the wrong shell gas station, the right one was just a block down the way, and hearing an elderly gentlemen complaining about how loud the concerts were.
How does Bonnaroo work it, is it just lucky to have a understanding local government?

fests like lolla, ACL, and other city fests are bound by city noise ordinances to cease playing by certain times.
i have no idea if the farm is actually within the city limits, but i would venture to guess that their neighbors aren't close enough that a time limit is necessary.
