Jesse came from a very loving family. His little brother even told him that he is still all his patents talk about. He just went against the grain. Jesse is a young stupid addict, who is really not that smart and makes bad decisions. He doesn't calculate his actions like Walt does. He truly does have good intentions. He never wants anyone to get hurt, he'd rather quit than be violent or hurt people. He got sucked into this because he just wanted to cook a little meth to sell to his friends mostly, so he could get high all day everyday. Walt kept pushing him further and further into helping him build an empire, and Jesse has a real hard time saying no to Walt.
Oh, poor Jesse, he's sad that he shot some unarmed dude in the face. Let's give him a group hug.
You had an extra spoonful of condescending douche this morning didn't you? That's not what I'm saying. I'm also not saying that he's completely innocent. Just that he has good intentions, but because he's easily manipulated, and not real smart it leads him to make poor decisions that effect people in ways that he otherwise wouldn't have intended.
On the Lydia/ricin theory: way too obvious for this show. Remember Pinkman's Law: "Whatever you think is supposed to happen, I'm telling you, the exact, reverse opposite of that is going to happen."
Oh, poor Jesse, he's sad that he shot some unarmed dude in the face. Let's give him a group hug.

No, I've just grown tired of people excusing Jesse's bad actions because he feels sorry for doing them. It means he's less of a bad guy than Walt, but he's still a bad guy.

Flanzo is always a condescending summers breeze, but I actually agree with him on this.

Coming from the guy whose most wanted Roo headliners are:
- I think the Ricin is for Lydia, as cheap as it seems. I don't think he goes after Elliot & Gretchen, I think they were simply a vehicle to bring the Heisenberg out of Walt.
- Flynn telling him to f*ck off was a great scene, and it's between that and the scene with Saul for my favorite of the episode. I loved the part where Walt tries to intimidate Saul into doing what he wants before keeling over in a coughing fit. It really shows how much his health has degraded and how physically weak he is.
- I think the idea that Walt and a single big gun can take out a dozen or so neo-nazi's with some level of training with heavy weapons (or at least a lot of practice) is naive. I think the downfall of the nazi's has to be two-pronged, and I think what ends up happening is Walt makes his presence known and they send a welcoming party, and Jesse sees the opportunity (perhaps while in the lab) to take out some on his end. Walt and Jesse fight their way through the nazi's from opposite ends, so to speak, and end up meeting in the middle, both armed. This leads to their last face-to-face of the season (hey, a man can dream, can't he?).
I just think Walt taking a gun and laying waste to a bunch of fairly skilled killers would be a crappy ending. His evil brilliance has always been in planning things so he has the utmost advantage, not running into a gunfight like he's John McClane.

...I think it'd be better if the Nazis captured Walt and then he and Jesse, in one final cook, blew EVERYBODY up. Edit: including themselves.
Throughout the show Walt has had to fall back on his knowledge of chemistry to get himself out of jams. It's the only edge he has, so I think he has to use it.
Because I agree with Flanzo; there's no way Walt in his weakened condition with his lack of combat training and that big heavy hard-kicking rifle can take down all those biker Nazis. And does Walt even know where the Nazis keep their base?
Maybe Walt would finally have to trust Jesse to do something correctly; he collapses in a coughing fit right before the final bomb/poison gas/whatever ingredients are concocted, and Jesse has to finish it.
So I like that idea of the cold opening being young Mr. White lecturing young Jesse in chemistry class.

A good point someone brought up.....that for all the talk of ricin on the show it's never actually been used. So maybe this one doesn't get used either?
