Maybe some hardcore avett fans could help me out as to why they all sing as loud as possible. It reminded me of the beatles not being able to hear themselves.
i'll just give a piercing glare to people talking. But i would almost rather trying to block out talking to hear rather than have everyone ruin the mix right in front of your eyes.

1. A bunch of my friends go to school in Syracuse and have houses so I went up there. Nothing too exciting happened really, drank beer, sat on balconies, looked (unsuccessfully) for a girl to kiss at midnight. The normal. Although I had to bite my tongue when my friend who believes Incubus is better than Radiohead found someone who shared his opinion. It wasn't worth it to get in another argument about it.
2. Since I live up north and it's a slow season for touring anyway, not too many shows on my horizon. Probably Cold Cave in February unless things change soon. I'm holding out for a Spoon or Vampire Weekend show in Toronto to save my winter though.
3. Zach Galifianakis. I know it's kind of become popular to say him, but the man is hysterical. For the sake of coolness his dvd live at the Purple Onion won me over before I ever saw the Hangover. Seeing him onstage with MMJ at the end of their 2008 set was a highlight as well. Many will say they stayed all the way through that set to see him, but only the truly determined (I had no sweatshirt and it was freezing and wet) actually saw it.

1. I visit the comedy tent quite often actually. It's a great way to rest/recharge early in the day when there really aren't that many bands I want to see. This year I saw the Daily Show all stars , Bonnapoo, and the Comedy Carnivale. The only one who wasn't funny, like at all, was Janeane Garofalo. Absolutely terrible.
2. Not really, I think when I was younger (like 3 or 4) I met Don Beebe, WR for the last good years of the Buffalo Bills football era. My brother knows Michael Angelakos of Passion Pit though. He went to my middle school and was in a crappy emo/ska band Cherry Bing before splitting with that group and going to a private high school. He actually just saw him the other day at Spot Coffee (our Starbucks alternative that is owned ironically by Halliburton,) and spoke to him.
Holy crap. Ok what are we talking about here, who I'd like to see at Bonnaroo or just in general. If it's who I'd like to see at Bonnaroo I'd go: White Stripes (Haven't seen them yet, Headliners) Animal Collective (Late Night This Tent) Thom Yorke (Late Night The Other Tent)
If it's personal preference just switch out MMJ for the White Stripes, although all of those are really close.
Is there some kinda law requiring every high school to have a band including Cherry in its name? Or just our schools?
Do you feel more, less, or about the same amount of guilt being in Starbucks vs. the Halliburton java joint?
I'm trying to figure out why that would be a popular name for high school/middle school bands. Maybe something to do with popping a cherry? It could be a way to hit on girls, a poor one, but when you're in a band that's semi decent it doesn't really matter I guess.
Less guilt. I could have heard wrong about it, because when I googled it the sixth result was this thread. Who knows though, maybe it's some conspiracy google is not privy too. It's still better than Starbucks, and there are slightly less yuppies who go there.
Boxers. For the first few weeks it was strange, but now I honestly couldn't see myself going back. I don't think I have enough hipster cred anyway to wear the american apparel multi colored briefs.

Forgive me if this has been asked and answered, because I have honestly not read this thread in a while, but what's all the gear behind you in your avatar? If this has been answered just point me in the right direction.

1. No regrets, I think the thread is a good way to get to know other board members who maybe don't post out of the music threads often.
2. Let's be honest here, the Bills have been out of the picture since the Titans threw that forward lateral ten years ago. This year though, the Saints. I think New Orleans needs something to hang their hat on still, and a Super Bowl victory would be nice.

That is quite awesome! I have a pretty big crush on Michael, haha. Anyways...
You attend the University of Buffalo, right? What are you majoring in? And how did you go about becoming music director at the college radio station?

Yes I do, English major because I would like to do something with writing when I get out of school, most likely music journalism. I figure the best way to go about this is to listen to a shit ton of music and learn as much as I can. Also I suck at math.
Honestly our music station is kind of crappy, so it wasn't that hard. But the people in charge were quite impressed I did a radio show in a solid slot at St. Bonaventure my freshman year. Before I transferred to UB, I did a show with my dorm neighbor Drew at what was then the #1 radio show in the country, WSBUfm. When I told the kids at WRUB this, a station which was, (and still to a point, but I'm working on it) in the shitter, their eyes lit up. This coupled with my obsession with all things music, allowed me to earn 200 bucks a month talking to record promoters, receiving albums early, and playing SNES in the radio office. Best job I'll ever have.

I had just picked up this album, when I finally signed up for an account. I don't listen to as much alt-country as I used to, but this is sort of the start of the genre.

1. I just picked up a bunch of lps the other day, Pavement Wowee Zowee Jeff Buckley Grace Bear in Heaven Beast Rest Forth Mouth U2- War
2. It was either this
or this
3. Bruce Springsteen Darien Lake 9/20/2003 for my friends birthday.
4. I have been to two, 2008 and 2009. 2009 had the better lineup and overall better time but 2008 changed my life. Unless the lineup turns into Warped Tour or Mylie Cyrus headlines all three days this year, I'll be back for 2010.
5. Nope just Bonnaroo and Pitchfork, 'm hoping this year to change that. Once ATP NY announces their curator I'm going to get a ticket and I already have Lolla tickets.
