You were vegetarian for a while, correct? Yes, 8 months from mid/late 2006 into earlyish 2007.
What was the best thing you ate during that time? The worst? When we first moved to Atlanta, we went to this place because we thought it was a vegetarian restaurant, but that place had closed, and a different restaurant had taken its place. We decided to stay and make do. I think they only had one vegetarian option on the menu, so that's what we got. I don't even remember exactly what it was now, but it was an eggplant and red bell pepper dish that was really, really good. It was also really expensive, though, so we never ended up going back. As far as day-to-day stuff, I really liked the MorningStar Farms fake chicken nuggets.
As for the worst, there was a vegetarian place in Atlanta called the Sunflower Cafe. We ate there a couple of times and they had some good dishes, but Josh got their "meatloaf" one time, and it was just gross.
How long have you worn glasses?
Around 7 years. I had great vision until I was in my early 20s and, ironically, working at an optometrist's office.
What do you miss most about the south? Miss least?
It's not actually related to the south, but my family is all there, so of course I miss them the most. But as far as the south in particular, I miss southern food the most.
I miss humidity the least. I'm really looking forward to the dryness this summer.
Ever been to DC?
Nope, the closest I have been was Annapolis.
What is your favorite holiday?
It seems too easy, but I have to go with Christmas because it's pretty much the only time of year that I get to visit with most of my family.
When was the last time you wrote a letter? Who did you send it to?
I wrote a ton of cover letters when I was looking for a job, but they weren't very personal. The last personal piece of mail I sent wasn't actually a letter, but a card that I sent to my mom with some pictures that I took around town. I can't remember the last time I sent an actual personal letter.
any celebrity crushes?
In no particular order:
favorite time of the day?
Around 7ish in the evening when all my responsibilities are (usually) taken care of, and I can just sit down and relax.
most memorable roo moment?
In 2006, there was a guy camped near us who had a big 'ole freakout, pacing back and forth yelling about how he didn't give a quack and it wasn't his fault. He threw his shoe, his keys, and his wallet into other people's campsites and had to go later and apologize to people and get them back. The whole thing seemed really exaggerated and unnecessary. (He was quiet the rest of the weekend though.)
your closest (friend) board member?
I reckon that would be Druid.
your closest (musical taste) board member?
I really have no clue. I don't venture much into the music-related forums, so I'm not all that sure what other people's tastes are.
best looking board member?
Yeah, I don't know how to answer this one either. I was going to go back and look through the My Mug thread to find an answer, but my computer is kind of temperamental, so it's too much of a pain in the ass. I'm gonna say that everyone on here is beautiful and leave it at that.
favorite troll?
Seriously, though, I have always enjoyed anyone with the initials N.H.C.

what do you think of Kevin Smith movies? what highschool did you go to? where do you see yourself in five years? ten? your top five bands? what do you think of Kevin Smith movies? In general, I like them. More specifically, Chasing Amy, Clerks, and Mallrats are super-super nostalgic for me. I remember going to see Mallrats with my friends when we were in high school and the oldest of us had just gotten her license. Chasing Amy and Clerks, I watched on video with my best friend at the time Stacie. She had a big crush on the guy at the video store that we went to, and he recommended Clerks to us. (Side story (this is what happens when I tell stories drunk): The video-store guy's name was Eric. The first time that we talked to him, we were trying to find the movie Hair, so we said to him, "Excuse me, do you have Hair?" He was wearing a baseball cap at the time, so he was all, "Um, I think so." Maybe that's a had-to-be-there kind of story. I don't know. It was funny at the time.) So, we watched it. And, by the way, I do mean video, not DVD. Okay, you kind of have to love Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back. I mean, who can watch that and not laugh? But Dogma is by far the best of the Kevin Smith movies. It's a really damn good movie. And then he made Jersey Girl and Clerks II, and, well, I just don't even know what to say about that. Okay, that's a lie, I do. Jersey Girl was fine, for what it was, which was a feel-good romantic comedy, which, as a general rule, is not my thing. Clerks II sucked.
what highschool did you go to?
South-Doyle High School, class of 1997.
where do you see yourself in five years?
Not in that much different of a place that I'm in now, really. I graduated law school in 2006, and I got a temporary (2-year which became 3-year) job, so I knew I'd move on from that in the relative future. I loved that job but hated knowing that I was going to have to leave it and move on to something else, so I looked for my next job with the idea that I would be at it for awhile once I got it. Right now, I'm a staff attorney for the NV Supreme Court. It's pretty low-level, as far as attorney jobs go, but I really, really like it. I have a lot of flexibility with regard to how I plan my day, but I also have accountability with regard to how much work I actually get done. Right now, I've just started the process of thinking about buying a house in this area. Obviously, that will tie me down to this job for awhile. There are a few supervisory positions that I could move up to in the office, but there are also a number of people who have been there longer than me who are likely to fill those positions should they come open. So, I figure I'm pretty stationary for awhile, and that's cool with me.
ten?
Ideally, another one of those supervisory positions will open up sometime in the next ten years that will go to me. I can't say that I'm super-ambitious, but I would make a good supervisor.
your top five bands?
Taking this literally, so where I would have maybe said something like "Beck," I won't because Beck is not a band, I'll say:
Talking Heads Primus Gogol Bordello Electric Six Frank Zappa and the Mothers of Invention
Damn, I made a list of just my favorite bands and cut it down to five. There were some that I really hated to cut out, but these are my top five.
Fav Radiohead album?
Hail to the Thief
what kind of wine have you been drinking?
Yellow Tail Shiraz
do you drink often?
Been trying to cut back. I'm partial to wine, so it's too expensive to drink too often.
why were you drinking tonight?
Because it was Saturday.
does your zodiac sign adequately apply to your personality?
Libra is the only inanimate sign of the zodiac, all the others representing either humans or animals. Many modern astrologers regard it as the most desirable of zodiacal types because it represents the zenith of the year, the high point of the seasons, when the harvest of all the hard work of the spring is reaped. There is a mellowness and sense of relaxation in the air as mankind enjoys the last of the summer sun and the fruits of his toil.
yes
Librans too are among the most civilized of the twelve zodiacal characters
YES!
and are often good looking.
not really
They have elegance, charm and good taste, are naturally kind, very gentle, and lovers of beauty, harmony (both in music and social living) and the pleasures that these bring.
Yes!
They have good critical faculty and are able to stand back and look impartially at matters which call for an impartial judgment to be made on them. But they do not tolerate argument from anyone who challenges their opinions, for once they have reached a conclusion, its truth seems to them self-evident; and among their faults is an impatience of criticism and a greed for approval. But their characters are on the whole balanced, diplomatic and even tempered.
This is why I'm a lawyer.
Librans are sensitive to the needs of others and have the gift, sometimes to an almost psychic extent, of understanding the emotional needs of their companions and meeting them with their own innate optimism - they are the kind of people of whom it is said, "They always make you feel better for having been with them."
I like to think so.
They are very social human beings.
No.
They loathe cruelty, viciousness and vulgarity and detest conflict between people, so they do their best to cooperate and compromise with everyone around them, and their ideal for their own circle and for society as a whole is unity.
Most definitely.
Their cast of mind is artistic rather than intellectual, though they are usually too moderate and well balanced to be avant garde in any artistic endeavor.
Absolutely.
They have good perception and observation
This is hilarious. I'm not very perceptive or observant.
and their critical ability, with which they are able to view their own efforts as well as those of others, gives their work integrity.
Yes?
In their personal relationships they show understanding of the other person's point of view, trying to resolve any differences by compromise, and are often willing to allow claims against themselves to be settled to their own disadvantage rather than spoil a relationship.
Yep.
They like the opposite sex to the extent of promiscuity sometimes, and may indulge in romanticism bordering on sentimentality.
Their marriages, however, stand a good chance of success because they are frequently the union of "true minds". The Libran's continuing kindness toward his or her partner mollifies any hurt the latter may feel if the two have had a tiff. Nor can the Libran's spouse often complain that he or she is not understood, for the Libran is usually the most empathetic of all the zodiacal types and the most ready to tolerate the beloved's failings.
Agree (circle gets the square!!!)
The negative Libran character may show frivolity, flirtatiousness and shallowness.
Also true.
It can be changeable and indecisive, impatient of routine, colorlessly conventional and timid, easygoing to the point of inertia, seldom angry when circumstances demand a show of annoyance at least;
Oh, most definitely.
and yet Librans can shock everyone around them with sudden storms of rage.
Yep (once, I got kicked out of West Town Mall because of this. Seriously.
Their love of pleasure may lead them into extravagance; Libran men can degenerate into reckless gamblers, and Libran women extravagant, jealous and careless about money sometimes squander their wealth and talents in their overenthusiasm for causes which they espouse.
Yes.
Both sexes can become great gossipers. A characteristic of the type is an insatiable curiosity that tempts them to enquire into every social scandal in their circle.
Yup.
In their work the description "lazy Libra" which is sometimes given is actually more alliterative than true. Librans can be surprisingly energetic, though it is true that they dislike coarse, dirty work. Although some are modestly content,
Yes.
others are extremely ambitious.
Not this one.
With their dislike of extremes they make good diplomats but perhaps poor party politicians, for they are moderate in their opinions and able to see other points of view.
Yes.
They can succeed as administrators,
I could see that.
lawyers (they have a strong sense of justice, which cynics might say could handicap them in a legal career
I'm a lawyer.
antique dealers, civil servants and bankers, for they are trustworthy in handling other people's money.
I could see being any of those things.
Some Librans are gifted in fashion designing or in devising new cosmetics; others may find success as artists, composers, critics, writers, interior decorators, welfare workers or valuers, and they have an ability in the management of all sorts of public entertainment. Some work philanthropically for humanity with great self-disciple and significant results.
I always wanted to be a fashion designer or a writer, but, as it turns out, I'm not terribly creative.
Libran financiers sometimes make good speculators, for they have the optimism and ability to recover from financial crashes.
Maybe.
Overall, I'd say that was a pretty accurate description.
will you tell us a secret?
The last place we lived in Atlanta was a duplex, and the key to our part also unlocked the downstairs. The guy downstairs moved out all of the sudden and we didn't know if he was all the way gone, so we went down there one night to see if he had actually moved out so that we could let our landlord know. As it turned out, he had mostly moved out, but had not gotten all of his stuff out yet. One of the things that he left was a burned copy of a White Stripes CD, and we took it. I never would have taken it, but the guy was a huge douche_bag. (Some of you may remember him as the guy who left his dog there by itself when he went camping one time. Eventually, someone came to take care of the dog, but it was there by itself for a loooong time.)
any question you are suprised that you have not been asked?
Not that I can think of.
Age at which you lost your virginity? ;D
18.
Memorable or prefer to forget him(or her)?
I can't say he was a bad guy, but it's probably preferable to forget. He was an ICP fan. I was young.

Only 10 days left for me. Thanks to everybody who's asked questions so far! They've all been fun to answer. I hope you'll keep 'em coming because I'm bored a lot, and I like to talk about myself.

When are you coming back to San Diego?
I don't know. Hopefully soon. It would be nice to visit when I don't have to go to conference classes all morning.
How many pieces of IKEA furniture do you own?
A computer desk, a regular desk, an entertainment center, a side shelf thing that we keep our dvds and records on, an office chair, 5 shelves, two footstools. Not furniture, but we also have some knick-knacks and a picture of trees.
We used to have a sofa, but we left it in Atlanta when we moved. We went a little crazy when we discovered IKEA.
Also, we were at some friends' house a couple of weeks ago, and they had the side shelf thing.
What is your favorite TV channel?
I was going to say Bravo, but Project Runway's not on Bravo anymore, and I just can't say Lifetime. So, I'm going to have to go with the Food Network.
What was the last completely frivolous purchase you made?
I bought 8 shot glasses on the way out here, which is frivolous considering we don't drink liquor. When I'm irresponsible with money, it's usually by going out and having a big dinner with drinks.
How many boyfriends have you had in your life?
Actual boyfriends, I've really only had 3. That sounds kinda' sad, but I've been with Josh since I was 20 (10 years), so it's not quite as bad as it sounds.
How old were you when you experienced your first kiss?
16
Will you please come back to bonnaroo?
I'd have liked to have gone this year, actually, but there's just no way we could afford it. I think my little brother is going this year, though. Maybe someday.
What kind of cell phone do you have? And do you like it, love it, or hate it?
It's okay, but the buttons are really tiny.
In honor of earthday, what are three GREEN things you do on a regular basis?
I walk to work instead of driving. I use a Brita Water Pitcher instead of plastic water bottles. I use a reusable, fabric shopping bag.
What is your favorite smell? If you can't pick 1, top 5 will do
Rain in the summer.
Acoustic or electric guitar?
Acoustic.
When was the last time you were in the ocean?
I think it was about 6-7 years ago. I went to Wrightsville Beach with my stepdad's entire side of the family (like 25 people). I've been to the ocean since then, but not in it.
Hippies or yuppies?
Hippies.
Do you ever watch oprah?
Never.
who put the bomp in the bomp bah bomp bah bomp? who put the ram in the rama lama ding dong?

#1- On a scale of 1-10, how appealing does this sound to you?
LIGHT COFFEE & MALT ICE CREAM WITH WHISKEY CARAMEL SWIRLS & ENGLISH TOFFEE PIECES
I'd give that an 8. I'm not 100% sure on "whiskey caramel swirls" so I took a couple of points off, but it still sounds good. I hadn't really paid any attention to the Bonnaroo Buzz news. Now I'd like to try that. (Upon doing some research, it appears that the closest Ben & Jerry's store is 139 miles away. Would it be strange to drive 2 1/2 hours to try a new flavor of ice cream?)
#2- If you were forced to see Jekyll and Hyde the Musical, who would you rather see play the lead?
Sebatian Bach
OR David Hasselhoff
OR Jack Wagner
Okay, I just spent like 7 minutes seriously debating this with myself. I think I would have to go with Sebastion Bach. Jack Wagner will always be Frisco Jones to me, and I'm not sure I would want to change that.
#3- EF?/MARRY?/KILL? (You must choose one for each)

given any thought to the next BMOTM(W?)? got any upcoming shows? were you as happy as I was last thursday at 11pm? coke or pepsi? what would you do for a klondike bar?

given any thought to the next BMOTM(W?)?
I have an idea, if she wants it, but I'll wait to say who.
got any upcoming shows?
Not really. Josh wants to go see Horton Heat in August, so we might do that. I'd really like to see Elvis Costello in a couple of weeks, but the tickets are just way too expensive. Unfortunately, we don't get too many good shows 'round these parts.
were you as happy as I was last thursday at 11pm?
I think I was asleep last Thursday at 11, but, thanks to the magic of DVR, on Saturday around 11 a.m., I was extremely happy.
coke or pepsi?
Neither. I don't drink sodas anymore. I used to drink Diet Coke, but I'm afraid that it will give me brain cancer, so I gave it up.
what would you do for a klondike bar?
Almost nothing. Klondike Bars are not really my cup of tea. Also, I'm extraordinarily lazy.
