Josh and one of his friends are planning on going to the Marilyn Manson/Slayer show at whatever the HiFi Buys Amphitheatre is called now (oh, yeah, it's Aaron's Amphitheatre at Lakewood). Also on the bill are: Killswitch Engage, Bullet For My Valentine, Trivium, All That Remains, God Forbid, Cannibal Corpse, Job For a Cowboy, Behemoth, The Black Dahlia Murder, and White Chapel. Essentially, we are talking about hours and hours of music that . . . I can't think of anything clever to say, so I'll just say hours and hours of music that I hate. Nevertheless, Josh and his friend think I should go. The thing is, I love people-watching, and I figure that this will be quite the opportunity to see some people that I ordinarily would not be seeing. Also, Josh's friend gets all prettied up for Marilyn Manson shows. Last time they went to one, he ended up in the Atlanta paper. So, it also might be fun to watch him/people's reaction to him.
So, my question is: Should I go?
Yes. Bring a camera, take pictures of the people, and post them on here for all of us to laugh at. Maybe bring an ipod, too
I have officially agreed to go.
And for a new question:
For what movie would you be willing to sit in a really uncomfortable seat in order to be able to watch it in a theater?
For what movie would you be willing to sit in a really uncomfortable seat in order to be able to watch it in a theater?
Ya know... I haven't seen a movie in a theater in forever. The admission price is more painful than any seats for me these days. I'm not really a big movie person in general either, so my answer for this is rather weaksauce... But I never saw Saving Private Ryan in theaters and I'd imagine that would be worthwhile I guess.

Do you think that with roo on the horizon the board will be active enough one month from now for there to be a second board member of the month? If so, who do you nomnomnominate?
Post by strumntheguitar on Jun 1, 2009 11:47:47 GMT -5
^^I'm sure it'll be active enough. It definitely stays pretty busy for a month or two after Roo usually before dying down. And even when it does die down, I'd say the majority of questions being asked here are from more of the year-round regulars and not the seasonals
If you were in jail who would your one phone call be to?
You know... I actually don't know anybody's phone number off the top of my head except my mom's house phone. That would leave me in quite the bind I suppose, wouldn't it?
I'd rather not have to give her the call, but unless I had the option of looking through my cell phone that'd be the only choice I guess. Otherwise my good friend Adam. If anything, he'd be good for a few laughs on the ride home
if you could shut down any one company in the world, which would it be?
Right when I read this question I only had one answer pop immediately into my head. After further thought, I realize there may be some small consequences of these bastards getting shut down but it'd be totally worth it in my mind atleast.

Okay Strum, try this:
It's 10am on a fantastic, warm, summer Friday in beautiful Roanoke, Virginia, you just got $300 dollars from selling your old acoustic to the old man, you've got no work all weekend, and not a worry in the world. The planets have aligned, and seemingly dropped this impossible predicament in your lap. Phish is in town playing at the Roanoke Civic Center, it's in town, it's Phish, you just found out Shakedown has already been erected, and the lot raging has begun. The show is only $49.50, and word on the street is that Kuroda had something new up his sleeve for this leg of the tour. To the North, The Dead have just rolled into Charlottesville for a two night stand at the John Paul Jones Arena, these are the last two shows before their next hiatus of God knows how many years. You have a place to stay, but tickets are $89.50 for each show. Next, in a shocking turn of events, Roger Waters and David Gilmour have buried the hatchet for a one off show, this said show is to be performed on the National Mall in Washington DC. It is free, being filmed for a dvd, and is expected to draw over 250,000 people. You do however, need to drive 4 1/2 hours not including traffic, and have to fend for yourself for a place to stay, or tough it and drive home afterwards on a head full of cid. And now finally, My Morning Jacket has just rolled into Hampton to play the Coliseum Saturday. It's their last show before heading home to Louisville on their farewell tour, the band has run its course, and have decided to go their separate ways. The band has been playing in an "A Evening With" format all tour, playing 3 1/2 hours every night, complete with an all acoustic set that has been really heavy on the "Tennessee Fire", "At Dawn" side of things. Becca and Ali have a room booked at the La Quinta, all you need is the $39.50 ticket for the show. Why are Becca and Ali in town you ask? Oh because Bisco is playing the Norva of course, an added facemelting bonus.

^^You know it's a clusterfuck of good shows when My Morning Jacket and Bisco aren't even in consideration as far as who to go see!
The Dead would be nice, but they'd rank 3rd in my list for that fateful night. Phish in Roanoke? Score! Except... I hate the Civic Center. And I've seen Phish once, and I'm about to tack on 3 more next week. I can never have enough Phish, but....
I would be an absolute fool to miss out on Waters and Gilmour, not to mention having the extra $300 to spend, with which d I'd probably buy your ass a plane ticket to Dulles

Man, who could've made such a badass button?
damn...i wonder where you got such a headie button ?
Are you watching Conan's first Tonight Show at the moment?
What is your favorite set you've ever seen at Bonnaroo?
Did you waste any time on Kanye, and if so, how much?
Celebrities with Same Birthday: Haley Joel Osment, Mandy Moore, Steven Seagal, John Madden, and Joseph Pulitzer.
I took Spanish in high school through Spanish 4, but that's it.
No Conan for me, although I probably should.
It's a tossup between STS9 or The Black Keys from 2007.
The only time I've spent on Kanye is laughing at him and ridiculing him on his blog. I consider both of those time well spent. I wasn't even on the farm last year though

I mean, I wouldn't throw it on my ipod or start running if I heard it being played at a stage a couple hundred yards away. But there was a time within the last decade where I would have, so I guess physically repelled isn't the best way to put it.

If this has been asked sorry, but is there one band that everyone loves on this board that you just don't get? Or don't think is as good as people make them out to be?
Also is there any show at Bonnaroo that you wish you had went to? A set that you wish you hadn't?
