I just sam him 2 weeks ago for the first time...good show but not super impressed...he's got good music to lay around and drink too tho...I would like to check it out sat. afternoon but doubt it because of the craziness the night before...than again I'll prob be up and if it's not too far of a walk I might jump up there for that show and than hop back to camp and rest.
Would be pretty cool if he shows up...glad that the Parrotheads won't be crashin the party...nothing against them...
^From everything I have been given to understand there is a lot of mutual respect between them. He has talked about them, and even played some tunes when dj'ing on his sirius station. I really hope for a sit in.

The weather is here I wish you were beautiful The skies are too clear lifes so easy today The beer is too cold, the daiquiris too fruitiful No place like home when youre this far away I dont care what they say
and of course another great
Nothin' like this way out in West Texas Galveston Bay is a whole other world My wife's in our room gettin' over her sunburn How would Louis L'Amour get me next to that girl
She tells me her tan is the same all over She asks me to dance and says "keep your boots on" She never met a number one cowboy We rolled in the sand and drank rum until dawn
Who's the blonde stranger, who entered my life Makin' me over, in the moonlight This side of Texas, is all new to me Who's the blonde stranger, who lives by the sea
Stayed up all night and for me that's the first time Sneak in the room just as cool as I can Pull back the sheets and the bed is all empty Except for a note left from some guy named Dan
My head got all light and the room started spinning I stepped outside just to get some fresh air Out on a wave was my own darlin' Lola And some pretty boy with bleach in his hair
Who's the blonde stranger, out there with my wife What were they doin', in the moonlight This side of Texas, is all new to me Who are these strangers, who live by the sea
Back on the ranch and everything's normal Beach blanket bingo comes on the TV We talk in our sleep and then the next morning I ask her who's Dan and she says who's Marie?

Do you think they will play any of HIS songs though? If he wants the attention off of him, this seems the only way...
I mean, seriously, would you have penciled in this group if Buffet was not gonna be on stage?
This also could mean a lot of Parrotheads coming out of the woodwork as well. We often talk about Phish and their rabid fanbase...Buffet's fanbase probably would give them a run for their money, if not better.
True, it does seem to be only a brief "appearance" , but this does make things a little more interesting.

I was somewhat of a Buffet fan in the early days. I saw him do an arena show with just him on acoustic guitar and, for a few songs, his harmonica player, Fingers Taylor. He's written many good, some great songs.
My problem with him is the shows he does nowadays. They are mostly playing his biggest hits, which for me are his most banal. The epitome of this is playing "Fins" so all the parrotheads can do the shark dance. I can live without that.
If he does show at 'Roo, he really won't be under the obligation of having to crank out his top 40 hits. This could be an opportunity for him to play some of the great songs from a very deep catalog. I would love to hear "He Went To Paris".

Wow, this would be awesome. Hope it's true!
And now seems like a good time to share something. Was thinking of making a new thread somewhere for this but now it fits perfectly here! I love writing parody songs (um, I'm not exactly GOOD at it, but I enjoy it!) and last year before 'Roo I wrote a Bonnaroo-themed parody of "Come Monday." Never ended up sharing it with you guys back then, so here it is now: Come Thursday!
Headin’ down to Tennessee To the best place I’ll ever know I’ve got my tie-dye packed I just can’t wait to get back to all that rock and roll Before my first year, I didn’t know That I’d be missin’ it so
Chorus: Come Thursday, it’ll be all right Come Thursday, when the arch is in sight I spent all this past year waitin’ to get back here And I just wanna be back on the farm
Yes, it’s the best part of summer We’ll have fun even if it rains For four days, my mind’s on vacation It’s a feeling I just can’t explain And Bonnaroo, I love you so That’s the reason I can’t wait to go
Come Thursday, it’ll be all right Come Thursday, when the arch is in sight I spent all this past year waitin’ to get back here And I just wanna be back on the farm
I can’t help it honey It’s that much a part of me now Remember the late nights at Which Stage When the glowsticks rained down on the crowd?
The ferris wheel to the Silent Disco The mushroom fountain to the bobbleheads We could see My Morning Jacket The Flaming Lips, or even the Dead From Centeroo to the thousands of tents I just can’t wait to be there again
Come Thursday, it’ll be all right Come Thursday, when the arch is in sight I spent all this past year waitin’ to get back here And I just wanna be back on the farm
When the smoke rings appear and the songs fill my ears I just wanna be back on the farm

Gods Own Drunk
Actually that was written by Lord Buckley, who is another story unto himself. Though it was after recording it that the Golf Shoes>Cadillac>Buford Pusser>Ass Beating deal happened
Gods Own Cornhead
Well, like to explain to you all before, I ain't no corn eating' man I tried it once and it got me highly irregular And I swore I'd never do it again I promised my brother in-law that I'd go up watch his corn field While he went in to town to vote It was right up on the mountain where the map said it would be Friends let me tell you one thing, though it wasn't no ordinary Corn Field It stood up on that mountainside like a hugh golden Emerald
God's yeller moon shinin' on the cool clear evenin' God's little lanterns twinklin' on and off in the heavens Like I explain'd to you once before I ain't no corn eating man But temptation got the best of me And I took a cob That yella corn runnin' down my throat like honey dew vine water
And I took another cob, Took another'n an another'n an another'n For you knew I'd downed one bagful of that nuts and commenced to gettin' hot flashes Goose pimples was runnin' up and down my body And a feelin' came over me like somethin' I'd never experienced before It was like, like I was in love In love for the first time, with anything that moved Animate, inanimate it didn't matter It's like there's a great neon sign flashin' on an' off in my brain sayin' "Jimmy Buffett there's a great day a comin'" `Cause I was corned I wasn't knee crawlin', slip slidin', Reggie Youngin' Commode huggin' corned
I was God's own cornhead and a fearless man And that's when I first saw the bear He was a Kodiak lookin' fella `bout nineteen feet tall He rambled up over the hill expectin' me to do one of two things, Flip or fly, I didn't do either one It hung him up
He started sniffin' around my body tryin' to smell fear But he ain't gonna smell no fear `cause I'm God's own cornhead and a fearless man It hung him up He looked right in my eyes, and my eyes was a lot redder than his was It hung him up
So I approached him, I said "Mr. Bear, I love every hair on your twenty-seven acre body I know you got a lot of friends over there on the other side of the hill There's ole' rare bear, tall bear, Freddy bear, Kelly bear Really bear, smelly the bear, smokey the bear, pokey the bear I want you to go back over there tonight And tell them I'm feelin' right You tell them I love each and everyone of them like a brother and a sister
But if they give me any trouble tonight I'm gonna run every God damn one of them off the hill" He took two steps backwards and didn't know what to think Neither did I but bein' charitable and cautious Well hell I approached him again I said "Mr. Bear, You know in the eyes of the Lord we're both beasts when it comes right down to it
So I want you to be my buddy, Buddy bear" So I took ole' buddy bear by his island size paw and I led him over to the cornfield He's a sniffin' around that thing cause he's smellin' somethin' good I gave him one of them nugs of honey dew vine corn He downed it up right Looked like one of them damn bears in the circus
Sippin' sasparilly in the moonlight I gave him another'n an another'n an another'n For I knew it he downed eight of them and commenced to doin' the bear dance Two snips, a snort, a fly turn, and a grunt It was so simple like the jitter bug It plum evaded me
We worked ourselves into a tumultuous uproar And I was awful tired and went over to the hillside and I laid down and went to sleep Slept for four hours and dreampt me some tremulous dreams When I woke up, there was God's yeller moon shinin' on the clear cool evenin'
God's little lanterns twinklin' on and off in the heavens My buddy the bear was a missin' Want to know something else friends and neighbors So was that corn field

Never discount inforooers to take a rumor and run it to its extremes. The original source even said that he won't be sticking around all day and some of the Big Hassle folks were even in the dark about his presence there.
With his head out the sunroof, and his heart in the right place plan B was foolproof, he drove off to her place. Yelled out his feelings, among other stuff it was too much tequila or not quite enough it was too much tequila or not quite enough.
It's a semi-true story, believe it or not; I made up a few things, and there's some I forgot. But the life and the telling are both real to me. and they all run together, and turn out to be a semi-true story

You forgot the best verse, I had heard the story long before the song though.
Well the picture is fuzzy And the details are sorted It was on the same day that gods own drunk was recorded A walking tall sheriff and a big cadillac And me and golf shoes on the hood making tracks This daring young singer was under attack
^It was my first thought the first time I saw the farm. This belongs in the crying at 'roo thread but if he plays it I am sure I will tear up. It is even happening at home, when I listen to it.

I don't know, I don't know, I don't know where I'm a-gonna go When the volcano blows
Now my girl quickly said to me, Mon you better watch your feet Lava come down soft and hot, You better lava me now or lava me not
haha.. I tell my boyfriend you better lava me now or lava me not all the time & our friends just get confused at our little inside joke.
I skimmed through the thread, and I'm disappointed that some people may call Jimmy B. "bro" music. He's definitely got a certain vibe, but he's a talented musician and songwriter.
He's huge in Ms; they're building a massive Margaritaville Casino where I live. But even through all his merchandising, I never get the feeling he's only in it for the money. It at least feels like he cherishes his fans.
Even if he's only doing a small appearance at Roo, I'll still be happy to see him.
