I still think the map thing was exponentially cooler and more fun than just an announcement of a time and place. I mean really, I don't think I've ever seen people gripe over a band's creativity so much.
PHISH: FESTIVAL 8 Share Today at 9:50pm We're thrilled to announce Festival 8, a three-day Phish festival which will take place on October 30th, 31st and November 1st at the Empire Polo Club in Indio, California. With lush green fields and palm trees, and surrounded by vistas of California's majestic Santa Rosa mountains, the festival site is simply breathtaking. And for the first time ever, Phish will combine two of its most cherished traditions - a multi-day camping festival and performing on Halloween - in a glorious three-day celebration.
Keeping the tradition of past Halloween shows, Phish will don a musical costume on Halloween night and cover another band's album. The tradition began on Halloween 1994 with Phish covering The Beatles' The White Album. In subsequent years, they covered The Who's Quadrophenia, Talking Heads' Remain in Light and the Velvet Underground's Loaded.
The band will play eight sets over the course of three days, and as with all past Phish festivals, fans will enjoy on-site camping, numerous attractions and art installations throughout the weekend.
Tickets for Festival 8 will go on sale Monday, July 27th at 10AM Pacific Time for $199 + $1 WaterWheel Donation (plus applicable service fees) via places.musictoday.com/festival8/ . This includes entry for all 3 days into the event area. All vehicles entering the Car Camping area must also purchase a $15 Vehicle Pass. Limited Car Camping is available. Gates will open for the event at NOON on Thursday, October 29th. Capacity is limited, so advance ticket purchase and carpooling is strongly encouraged.

Alright glad that this is finally confirmed, I'll be there for sure! Really glad they are offering the shuttle from the airport, really didnt want to have to rent a car. Im so excited, its going to be a hell of a weekend.

cant decide if i should get one these hotel packages or just camp. would love to camp but just seems like it would be much easier to just get hotel instead of having to fly with camping gear. should have booked the holiday inn express a month ago that i was looking at.
$199+$1+$15+all applicable fees...? Do any other bands play too?
I know people love them but really? All told I paid slightly more for a roo ticket and got to see them play 2 nights plus atleast a dozen other large named bands I really wanted to see that put on amazing shows. I like phish but I'm not a huge phan so can somebody who is explain the attraction? It just seems like a raw deal to me...

^^Comparing a Phish Fest to Bonnaroo is a huge mistake. You don't attend a Phish Festival to see a bunch of different large and upcoming bands or to discover some new music. You attend a Phish Fest because you get to see 8 sets of Phish (equals out to ~$27 a set = great bargain considering tour prices).
Not to mention I'd imagine it's an experience like nothing you've ever seen before at Bonnaroo or any music festival for that matter.
^I would be a lot more excited about this one if it did not seem like so many people were planning on staying in hotels. Also 1 case of beer per person, and no liquor/wine is just ridiculous if you want to stay and camp. I am going to need more than that for 3 days in the desert. The price per set is not bad, but it is about the same face value as all their other shows this summer. As much as it pains me I think I am just gonna have to wait until the NYE, or Cinci run, and just go to Bear Creek instead of Festival 8.

Yeah well I'm sure they're gonna be really strict about that beer limit. It's kind of like the no glass bottle at Roo, yet somehow I found myself with a bottle of Jager in my hand more than once.
I'd probably be trying to make excuses for myself too though if I could even remotely afford it
