I dont of any other bigger festivals unless you went to Woodstock or something else overseas in Rio or something. Let's see.
60+ stages, an entire dance village, 135000 people camping, no major corporate logos plastering the site, 1100 acres with an 8 mile long fence surrounding it, selling out in 12 hours with no lineup at all. SXSW has more bands, but thats the only one I know of.
I am gonna stick with the word Ultimate. Burning Man is another Ultimate fest, but thats a whole nother ball game.
I did check and your 61, so you do have some experience. For whats available now, I am gonna side with my statement.

I agree fully with what you said "for today". Yea things change so Glastonbury may stay the biggest and baddest. I was at all the early fests WS69, Altamont, Watkins glen (650k) yada yada so when people talk about 100k I sort of

The lineup overall is epic (of course with that many acts it is hard not to be), but I actually prefer Bonnaroo's headliners. I have never been a U2 fan and while I like Muse I'm not crazy for them like most. I know it might sound blasphemous to some of you, but I would rather have KOL than Muse. At least after Stevie Wonder at Bonnaroo we get Jay-Z. Definitely give me DMB over U2.
Just read that U2 is having to cancel their Glastonbury appearance. Those are some big shoes to fill in a short amount of time.
my gf is majorly pissed about this situation since she has tickets and hotels and whatnot for a bunch of upcoming U2 shows.
she hoped / thought there was a possibility of U2 at roo - especially since they were going to play glastonbury. not this year, of course, but maybe next year - that said, bono doesnt like rehearsing for a one off gig... so the odds were slim.
this changes things, imo. since they'll be on tour next year - it opens them up to Roo 2011 and would make Roo their first (for profit) festival.

I am definitely bummed about this. It sounds like rumors are leaning towards Coldplay replacing them which seems meh. Friday night still has major conflicts but nothing on par with how U2 would have been. I've already seen the flaming Lips twice, Fatboy Slim or Boys Noize seems like the main choices, Sasha is also along with Groove Armada and XX. Seems like I will let the night guide us.
Black Keys are right before the headliner spot also on another stage along with Hot chip or Broken Bells. Friday conflicts are retarded on the lineup, this makes it less complicated I guess.
This should take you to my highlighted schedule which is ridiculous.
A Thieve's Parade 2/24 Conspirator 2/26 Kevin Smith 3/11 Keller 3/17 Papadosio 3/18 JJ Grey 3/25 Bela Fleck/Edgar Meyer 3/26 Toubab Krewe 3/27 O'Death 4/11 Budos Band 4/22 EOTO 4/28 Summer Camp 5/6-29 All Good

I like the whole picture aspect since you cant scalp them whatsoever. You have to have your picture approved for ticket preregistration and you are allowed to bail up to a certain date. Glastonbury is definitely a commitment.
The ticket is like a dollar bill, almost completely impossible to copy with watermarks and embossed emblems. I wish more tickets were like this. I am not sure if Zoie knows yet since she is at Wakarusa rright now. Haven't heard from her this weekend.
Also, Glastonbury late night is ridiculous. Cube Henge is supposed to be a mix of these two. Orb headlines Friday night.
There are 5 different late night areas open until 6am or later.
Here is a description of the 3 new areas, Shangri-La and Arcadia are the other two.

Glastonbury is now 8 days away and I have been getting my final packing done. This weekend will be the last stops on getting supplies for us.
Considering my usual festival attire of shirts and a tshirt for all our USA fests, it looks like we will be needing sweaters and jackets. The high temperature of the festival may be 70 degrees. The outlook is good as of now for no rain, but it looks to be as cold as 45 degrees at night. I guess I didn't realize that until now. My tent has a full rain cover, but underneath its like a screened shelter. Pretty mulch zilch on cold protection.
Oh well, freezing or not, it will be epic.
Most of the lineup is finalized now, with a couple open slots of uncertainty. Last week they released the schedule for 34 of the smaller stages around the site. I am still trying to grasp this. It seems really hard to abide by a schedule here.

Pictures are definitely a must, one reason I am bringing my netbook is so I can upload them if I run out of memory cards. Glasto has multiple lockup checkin areas for basically anything around the sight. My plan is to use it as storage for anything important not on me. Also, join my facebook page below. I am gonna try and finish uploading my Bonnaroo pictures from the past 3 years before I go. I am about halfway through. Pictures from tons of other shows and festivals are up also like Flips New Years.

We leave for London tomorrow afternoon. Finally feeling a little trip anxiety, just finished packing and our gear is not a light load. Its gonna be a minor inconvenience hauling our gear to our campsite, but will be all worth it once camp is setup. Glastonbury is a little more than 2 days away. Whoa.
