For anyone interested,
Glastonbury tickets go on sale October 3rd at 9am UK time which is 3am central here. If they haven't changed anything, you can put down your deposit early and decide until February if you want to pay for your ticket. You could still bail all the way until May if you bought insurance which is recommended.
Last year I stayed up until 6am during ACL weekend getting me and handguns tickets.
Now is the time to register if you are interested. Also, registration lasts for 3 years.
I plan on going back in 2013 if possible. I know there is some other inforoo people planning on it also.
I am one of those Glastonbury 2013 hopefuls. I've already got a fund started with about 500 saved up. Ballpark - ticket, plane, food, transportation, lodging, etc what would you say you spent or would need to have saved up to do this trip? I have talked a little bit with some folks, none of which have gone though, and we were estimating between 2,000-2,500 total, is this a good number to start with??

$2000 is probably good to start with. I recommend adding some extra time in europe if possible.
Some of the expenses include.
$1000-1300 plane ticket $325 glastonbury ticket Coach from London to Glasto $65 We left from Heathrow. hotel in London is around $100-150 minimum a night, hostels are cheaper. Spending cash $300+ The conversion rates are a huge factor when going also. It was near the all time low when we went at $1.50 = 1 pound Supplies can be bought there or brought. It depends on how much you want to carry which can be a big issue. Baggage fees are another item to add $100 to the cost if doing both ways. I will see if I can add to this later. I probably spent around $4k over the three week Europe journey, still haven't totaled it up yet.

Also, if you have Palladia they are playing Glastonbury footage all day tomorrow with the 2010 footage premiering in the evening.
If there is any chance of me being on there, it would be during Willie holding up my don't Mess with Texas shirt up front on the right side of the pyramid.
I will see if I can add some more pictures here later, but I have close to 1600 photos total up on my facebook page linked in my signature. If you are thinking of going, it basically totals up to a review in picture format. I tried to capture as much as possible. The pictures would be entirely different if there was mud to deal with.
Don't know much about it, I just replied to the guy asking for some more details and personal experiences with the work. I'll be sure to pass them on when he responds.

Beyonce is now confirmed as a Glastonbury headliner, my twitter feed goes crazy at night since I still follow a bunch of people I met at Glastonbury in the UK. U2 and Coldplay are most likely the other two headliners.
Eh. If I were gonna take a trip down there, I'd need more than U2, Coldplay and Beyonce to get me there. Even looking at the undercard, theres only a handful of artists (Primal Scream, James Blake, Caribou, Chem Bros) that I'd really want to see.

Worrying about the line-up at Glasto is pointless. This issue needs to be addressed. The experience is greater than the sum of the bands playing.
It's a complete commitment if you are able to get tickets. This will be the main issue for anyone in the US going.
From what I heard, there are still some more bands going to be added, possibly pulp and The Klaxons. Don't forget they have a Dance village with about 6 stages. the late night areas have to be experienced and don't need great bands playing (although it would be awesome). You never know who may be playing secret sets either, last year it was Thom Yorke and Johnny Greenwood.
It's hard to comprehend the fact that it has over 60 stages all over the places. A lot of those stages are basically bar type venues.
That being said, The chemical Brothers headlining The Other stage and U2 on the Pyramid are both a really big deal.

I don't care about the line-up in 2013 to be honest. I just need to experience Glasonbury. And going with this group of people will be amazing, no matter what the line-up.
thats really how I feel....Glastonbury is a music festival lover's dream. Im sure there will be enough bands that I want to see and enough bands I discover to validate the trip.
I do really want to go to Glastonbury at one point. And after further review of the lineup, I don't think it's as bad as I mentioned before. However, this is definitely not the year to get me to go, and even if the lineup was mind blowing I wouldn't be able to go anyway. Didn't notice Morrisey, Big Boi, Kool and the Gang, Joy Formidable, TVOTR, Lykke Li, Yuck, or Battles (even though I'm not a fan of their new album) earlier when I looked.

Anyone contemplating going should DO IT! It is the greatest music festival in the world, and is guaranteed to be the trip of a life time. I went in '09 and will be going next year once again. It probably helped that I am the world's biggest anglophile and nearly all of my favorite bands were playing...I mean...Maximo Park, Blur, Pete Doherty...three artists that shaped my entire existence.
